This was my first time coming here… it was not very fancy. Its in the ghetto side of town. place was very busy with kids running around and yelling.(annoying) I feel like its very unprofessional… the employees were loud and used profanity. They talked out loud about there customers in a bad way.(BIG turn off). Im probly not gonna come back to this place again…

This is really a 2.5 star review. Why? It’s an ok place so there’s 3. ** No Building Signage on the Moniker ** But I’ve experienced better so there’s 2. Would I go again? Only if someone else was paying and my regular spot was closed for good. Hence 2.5 plus the average of 3+2÷2=2.5(call me for a mean) Here’s the deal: Went on Friday for a Bridal Party extravaganza. The bride wanted us to have the same color polish and this would be our treat. I could’ve went without. They opened at 9am. I think they normally open at 9:30am. She’s all in love with these folks and has been going here for years — I think it was because she lived directly across the street like most grad students and went out of convenience. I know she’s a tipper because she does hair on the side so she believes in big tips coming back to her. BUTERGH maybe I just go the girl that partied tooooooo hard the night before. Only 3 of us. 1 getting her mani. The bride is dealing with the one that seems to be in charge. She preps for the pedi station. It appears clean and the place is brightly lit — I will admit I was shocked it was in disarray or disrepair like a nail shop I used to patronize on the westside. I get the last pedastal. Young thin girl comes in with her body hugging dress and it’s short. She preps, I’m put in the water and it’s luke –tepid at best. I like it to be warm — not scalding hot but warm. I make do. The massager controls are super glued to the arm of the chair. It’s somewhat broken down so they have to prop it for me. When the other 4 – 5 folks start getting pedi’s I noticed that my girl didn’t «bang my legs» like the older women were doing. Cute young boy came back to town and he was being made fun of by an older woman(it was for our benefit to laugh and we did). Back to my pedi: she did the most basic job and polished my toes. One side of their drying station doesn’t work. I tipped and that was that. If you can go to the shorter middle age woman or the average height but taller lady with long black hair(she wore two French braids and the hair length was in the middle of her back) as they seem to be attentive and detailed. I didn’t have to deal with the«hood» matters such as the previous Unilocaler wrote. BUT there was a note taped to the drying station that you will be asked to leave if(1) you talk to loud,(2) disturb others,(3) try to fight. And there’s another sign that says no children unless they are being serviced. I was shocked how many folks stopped in at 9:30am trying to get work done. She had to turn away everyone until noon. Sidebar: POSITIVEONEVERYONESPEAKINGENGLISHINFRONTOFUS. 1TV& it’s angled that you’ll never see it while in the pedicure pedastals. but there’s a sofa for folks to wait in front of the pedi station along with 2 folding chairs.

I was in Madison for a weekend event and needed to get my nails done, stat. Since there aren’t many Unilocal reviews in Madison, I searched Google and found some decent reviews on VIP so I thought I’d swing by. Well, it is probably not a good idea for someone from out of town to just go running around Madison. Let’s just say this place is not in the nicest of neighborhoods. That being said, the patrons are not that nice either. There are 8×11 «posters» hanging around the place stating«No eating. No profanity. Don’t speak loud., etc.» Ridiculous. That being said, this place was ridiculously dirty which made me nervous about their tools being sterile. As soon as I sat down I couldn’t wait for my nails to dry so I could leave. Why two stars then you ask? Surprisingly the manicure was decent and stayed on for a long time compared to others. As I’m moving to Madison soon, if anyone has nail salon suggestions, please let me know as I will not be going back to VIP.
