I had a fantastic experience here. The receptionist was so kind and helpful. She really made me feel special and took me through a nice tour of the salon and spa. I went in for my first facial with Marc. Marc was very professional, knowledgeable and kind. He listened to my concerns and took me through every step and explained everything. The experience was incredibly relaxing! I ended up getting two products that I can’t wait to try! My skin feels absolutely amazing and I plan to make this more of a routine in the future :)

Ashley is top notch. I have been to her for several services from coloring to blow outs, waxing to tinting. Every experience has been nothing short of wonderful. She listens to your ideas but it’s happy to give a professional opinion. She is extremely knowledgeable and offers exceptional customer service. My hair and eye brows have never looked better!

When I moved to Madison late 2012, I found Texture based on great reviews here at Unilocal.I started seeing Desiree and never looked back. I can say I had never found«the one» for a hair stylist before, but I loved everything Desiree did to my hair! I was a regular customer for over a year and a half spending nearly $ 150 – 200 every time on hair cut, color, and product. Now comes my visit in February. I had wanted to experiment with a darker hair color than I normal go, and the result was not something I liked. I have never once called a salon to say I didn’t like a service I revived and this was a big deal to me. I got my hair done on a Friday and I waited a few days to see if I could grow into the hair or get used to it, but after a weekend filled stares to my hair and upon returning to work where men and women alike were asking«what did you do to your hair» and I could see their glances shift to my hair instead of my eyes I knew I needed to call. I was greeted by the receptionist who was more than willing to book an appointment free of charge(after I asked her how much it would cost to fix as I couldn’t afford to put much more money in my hair after a $ 200 visit). I then spoke with Desiree and everything seemed fine and was set up with an appointment the next day. About 30 minutes later I received a call back from Desiree(whom I will not speak bad of) who was under order from the owner of the salon to inform me that since«I got the look I asked for(darker)» they would charge me 50% of the cost to fix. After that, I told Desiree I couldn’t afford to put that much money into my hair(would have been another $ 60 or so). I cancelled my appointment and she instructed me to wash my hair with dish soap. I have never felt more betrayed or disgusted with customer service in my life. It took 3 weeks of washing my hair with harsh and drying dish soap before my hair lightened enough for me to feel comfortable and people started to comment that my hair looked better. It seems to me that my hair was a direct representation of that salon, so I had no hesitation telling anyone who commented on my hair the situation with customer service I received at this salon, and where not to go. I had prior to this referred at least 3 people to this salon and would have continued to do so. I will not return to this salon, I am heart broken at how I was treated, and how they left me looking for 3 weeks. I will now be finding a new salon, and will continue to share my experience.

Today I had my hair highlited and cut by Tara. I have never been to this salon before. They were friendly and warm. Tara listened to what I wanted both in color and cut. The end result was exactly what I wanted. Tara is amazing and after having a not so good experience at another salon in Monona Tara was a very welcome change. This experience was excellent.

I waited a long time to write this review because I wanted to give Texture a chance to make this right. They didn’t. I am so upset at the lack of respect Texture showed for my time and for what I wanted. I spent hours talking, calling, going in multiple times, and in the end my problem was not resolved. If they had just consented to a refund like I had originally asked for, most of this could have been avoided and this review would have been different. Instead, Texture took it to a whole other level of inadequacy by wasting my time and my money. I am so disappointed. Thank you Texture for not only making me feel like a fool but making me look like one too. Here’s the story: My regular salon was all booked up, so I made an appointment on a recommendation from a friend to get a perm at Texture. Before going in, my hair was extremely healthy — not chemically treated, barely ever blow dryed, and trimmed regularly. It took Katrina about three hours to perm my hair. She told me not to wash it for 24 hours, which having had a perm before, I knew was wrong, so I waited nearly 3 days to wash it. The day after the perm, I could tell that the curls in the back of my head were falling out. There were sections of my hair that were completely straight, and my hair was straight for 2 inches leading into my roots. It looked like a damn mess and not like I had just gotten it done the day before. Still I waited a few days before washing, hoping that it would get better. It didn’t. Even though I used all the same products as I had with my previous perm, no amount of scrunching was getting the curl in the back to come back. I called Texture a few days after my perm, told them what happened and asked for a refund. I was told by the receptionist that a manager would give me a call. Instead, Katrina called me and to take a look at my hair, maybe put a few more curlers in. We set a time for me to come in but I had no intention of letting Katrina touch my hair again. In the meantime, I went to my regular stylist for a trim, who confirmed that the curl was uneven and strongly advised me to not let them perm it again. She said that there was a chance that my hair would break if they permed it again. I went in to see Katrina but we didn’t get past the sitting area as I told her that I wasn’t comfortable having her touch my hair again. I again asked for a refund. I was again told that a manager would be giving me a call. A manager called me a few hours later and said that it was against their policy to give me a refund(a policy that I have not been able to find stated anywhere in their salon or on their website) and said that they would prefer to reperm my hair. I again asked for a refund and again said that I wasn’t comfortable having anyone at the salon touch my hair. By this time my hair was a frizzy, damaged mess. Not only was it not curly but my beautiful, previously untouched hair was damaged beyond recognition. I was told that the owner would be giving me a call. The owner did call me at about 8:30 that night, which is pretty late. She again said that it was against their policy to give me a refund and told me that they would have their«perm expert» Brina wash my hair for an evaluation. It was the only option I was given so I finally consented. I went in to see Brina, who to her credit had unfaltering enthusiasm and some of the best customer service skills I have ever encountered. She washed my hair and confirmed that the curl was uneven and asked for the chance to make it right. During this whole time, not one person had told me, «We messed up,» and she was the first person to actually say that. Citing her years of experience doing perms, Brina said that she thought my hair was healthy enough to undergo another perm to try and fix the first one. So against the advice of my regular stylist but encouraged by Brina’s experience and enthusiasm, I agreed to another perm. I went in again for another perm attempt. Three hours later, my hair was curly, soft and just the way I wanted it. Brina said she would call me in a week to check on how I was doing but I never heard from her. Unfortunately, that’s all the time it took for the perm to fall out again. I followed Brina’s instructions, waiting even longer to wash my hair post-perm. While my hair is wavy, and the wave is fairly even, it’s not the curl that I wanted. I can achieve that curl by using A TON of product, which should be the case months after a perm, not only a few weeks. My first perm was done at a rinky dink salon in the Dells and stayed for over two years; I hardly had to do anything except wet it and scrunch it. This time my hair is frizzy and damaged and will take years to repair. I blow dry it straight now and aside from the considerable damage, there is no trace of the two perms I had done a couple months ago. What a waste of time and money. I hope at least those reading this review can benefit from my experience and stay far away from Texture.

Texture has exceptional customer service and really tries to please its customers. I went to this salon for the first time when they were first opening and they’ve since expanded their services. Did the group blowout class; so much fun! My friends and I were taught how to blowdry our hair first by observing the stylist, then the stylist helped us one on one. So far I’ve tried their hair&nail services. The staff really listens to your requests and provides a relaxing atmosphere. Their email list is also good keeping up with promotions and events(usually I hate being a part of too many mailing lists but this one is worth keeping)

I’ve been here twice. The first time, I would have given this place 2 stars. It was overpriced, and I felt like the hair designer didnt listen to a thing I said. So I cashed out $ 55 for a choppy trim. About a year later I receved a coupon in the mail for 50% off my next service. Considering the close proximity to my office, I decided to brave the Texture chair again. I’m so happy I did. Desiree was my designer/associate. She was easy to talk to and I felt like the understood what I wanted out of the appointment. I’ve lived in Madison for a few years now and haven’t found a salon and/or designer that I wished to continue seeing. However, now, I see myself going back to this salon as long as Desiree keeps doing the great job she did last time. The only con is that Texture is rather pricey.

I went here for a very simple color and cut– After the first attempt and two hours, it wasn’t close to what I wanted. They tried to fix it which took another 1.5 hours. When I got home and had a good look at my hair, it wasn’t at all to the standard I would have expected from a professional hair dresser. I called the manager who graciously offered to fix it for only an extra charge of $ 10. After this visit, it’s definitely closer to what I had originally wanted, but it will probably take another couple colors to get it back to how it was previously. I may have just had an unfortunate experience, because I feel you could come here and get exactly what you want– but I don’t think I will chance it again.

I had a really great experience at Texture. The salon is a very pleasant space and everyone I interacted with was helpful and friendly. When I arrived I filled out a new client form which, as another reviewer mentioned, demonstrated right off the bat that they were interested in providing a really personalized service for me. Great first impression. It also facilitated a great discussion with my stylist right off the bat so that we were on the same page from the beginning. My stylist, Desiree, specializes in curly hair with lots of body like mine and she gave me a fantastic cut. More importantly, she really took her time with me, explained everything she was doing, and showed me how to recreate the look she gave me, which I really appreciated! She also told me that if I had any questions about using a diffuser or any of the products she used, I could give her a call — so helpful and so reassuring. She’s obviously ready to stand behind her good work. I really hate getting my hair cut because I’ve had so many lousy experiences but my trip to Texture was relaxing and excellent. It felt like a treat instead of a chore. Thanks, Desiree!

The only place I trust for a consistently great haircut! I’ve been seeing Alicia as my stylist for about 5 years. She is the best! She is a highly trained stylist(as are all of them!) and she takes care to make sure it works for you, even after you go home and style it yourself. A great haircut that looks good and grows well is worth the money!

My hair was driving me crazy so I called the salon and they got me in for a cut with Brina. The first thing that really stood out to me was the new client form. I’d never been asked on paper before a salon service what I liked or didn’t like about my last cut. I knew I was in for a good experience right away. Brina, my stylist, did a great job of giving me the cut and style I wanted. She even gave me a lesson in home styling and had me try to the flat iron technique in the chair until I got it right. I couldn’t be happier with the service I received and I’ll be back in a week to try out color.

This salon recently opened down the street from where I work, in the Arbopr Gate comlex. A few weeks ago they dropped off a sample box with products and $ 10 gift cards. I decided to give them a try when I needed a pedicure this weekend. I called last minute and they were happy to get me in, the girl on the phone was very pleasant. When I arrived she gave me a quick tour of the space and offered water, coffee or tea. I chose the 30 minute Power Pedicure for $ 35 and Eva was my technician. She did a great job! I did not see much difference in the Power Pedicure and any other pedicure I have had at other salons. She told me there would be a longer leg massage and some additional product for the longer pedicure. I was totally satisfied with the Power Pedicure and not sure I would schedule the other one. The salon is lovely, all brand new. I will definitely return for a pedicure, and may try a color or cut. It helps that the location is very close to where I work. Bottom line, great pedicure for $ 35!
