Love this place! My sister goes to Fairleigh Dickinson and my family always goes to this place when they drop her off. I love the way it looks and how it is set up. It almost reminds me of the tavern from Beauty and the Beast. We went this past weekend as a family and ordered a few drinks and apps. I ordered a glass of Riesling and it was delicious. Most places don’t serve it cold, or if they do it’s never cold enough. This was perfectly chilled. For apps we ordered the spinach artichoke dip and potato skins. The spinach dip was so cheesy, I’ve never tasted anything like it. I would order that for my meal the next time I go back. The service was great. I enjoyed my first dining experience there and can’t wait to go see my sister and go back!

Great bar for a couple beers after work, great happy hour prices, the crowd and staff are always friendly. Regular bar food, apps were good and everything seemed clean and orderly. I’d skip the burger though, definitely a frozen patty.

Beer is not bad. Steak was microwaved… If i will come back, definitely not to dine in, only for beer and sit at the bar … 3 stars only because of the steak was microwaved(((((

A bunch of office staff and I went here for happy hour. The staff was a downfall. When I walked in there was no hostess and no one helped me for the first 5 minutes I was then told he could seat 10 people in the bar area and after I agreed i was told they have no high chairs so we would all have to stand for the duration of our meal so we sat on the dining room instead. The food was surprisingly very good and I was really happ. We ordered wings macaroni and cheese balls the calamari stuffed with crabmeat the spinach and artichoke dip(which was actually more of a cheese dip than spinach dip) and a couple of other appetizers and I got the Sunday regular which was very flavorful and hearty. The sangria is not so bad… which one? We had both! Overall an odd but fun and delicious experience!

Been here a few times for happy hour and dinner. It’s an okay place to grab beers and average American pub food.

Happy Hour 7 days a week from 3:00 — 6:00pm makes for a crowded bar. ½ priced beer and wine and a selection of appetizers. Last night there was a particularly rowdy group of guys and, though the bar wasn’t as crowded as we’ve seen it, they took over the room with their noisy behavior. On top of that tried to blast music but luckily the bartender turned it to a more fun level. We like the regulars, like the food, especially the wings, burgers and Reuben Sandwich. Good pizzas too. Def worth a try.

The lobster roll was sub par. Lots of filling but the bread was very bad. Stale hamburger bun with a generous portion on filling does not make a great sandwich. The lobster Mac however is a different story. That was creamy and loaded with the lobster meat. The atmosphere was nice, and overall it’s a good little pub in a wonderful little town.

Lots of TVs, nice big bar w/pub tables on the side. We’ve been here before, but something changed for the better. My wife and I popped in a few weeks back for a drink since we were in the area and decided to grab a bite after looking through the menu. I ordered the sliced prime rib sangwich while my wife went with the Reuben. I’m not a fan of Reuben mainly because I’m not a sauerkraut fan, but she said it had to have been the best Reuben she’s ever eaten in her life. I would have to take her word for it because she is a great cook with an impeccable palate. I enjoyed my sliced prime rib sangwich immensely. Great job to the guys in the kitchen and thanks a lot to Anthony who was tending bar and giving us advice on the menu. We went in another night on a Thursday and were pleasantly surprised w/some live music from a gentleman playing great tunes on his acoustic guitar.

Nice little spot for a cocktail and to hang out. Stopped in for a pre-dinner cocktail based on the reviews that it was a good spot for a drink. The bar area looks like it’s a good spot to chill and catch a game from time to time. They have half off happy hour everyday from 3 – 6 if I remember the sign correctly which we just missed. A decent craft beer selection, outside seating, and good views of the TV mean we will return to give it another try. We didn’t eat so I can’t comment on the food. Will edit next time if we grab a bite to eat. The main issue for me was the bartender looked bored beyond belief even thought the bar was about half full on a Sunday at 6 pm. It kind of set a strange vibe in that you thought they might tell everyone it was last call and to get ready to head out. I’ll give it another try but we shall see.

Had a great time staring at the empty patio you guys said would be too crowded for our group to sit at. Food was your standard bar fare. Needs a better beer selection.

The Prospect Tavern is average all around. Nothing is terrible or inedible, it just is that nothing stands out as being above average. We came here this past Sunday night, a party of 7 — 3 adults, 4 children. From the outside, it looks like it would be a charming older atmosphere inside. However, it is fairly non-descript inside and doesn’t have much«tavern» charm. There is an outdoor patio which looks to be a good place to enjoy a drink on a nice evening. The menu contains a wide range of food — appetizers, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, entrees, salads. I ordered a chicken murphy which was probably not the best choice for here. Once again, it wasn’t terrible, but it was not great. The chicken was fairly tender and the peppers and potatoes were cooked nicely, although the sausage was mediocre, not tasting too much like real italian sausage and the sauce served with the dish was bland and something that seemed made for a turkey dish vs. chicken murphy. Two of the children had the sirloin steak and enjoyed them quite a bit. They looked like to be cooked to how they were ordered and the boys were able to get french fries instead of the grits. Two people ordered the buffalo chicken salads and felt the buffalo sauce was quite spicy, a bit more than they expected. Finally, the last order was a sirloin sandwich, aka french dip. The menu said it was served on a french roll, but it came on something more like a hamburger roll and the meat contained a bit more fat than normally found on french dips. Overall, you may have a decent experience ordering a burger here, but based on our meal, I would veer too far beyond that and expect anything better than average here.

The service was horrible! On a slow Wednesday night it took forever for the bartender to get your order. Then my appetizer Stuffed Calamari was awful. When we ordered more beers while sitting outside, she didn’t bother bringing it. It felt like she ignored us on purpose. Terrible service!

Saturday night, prime time – place was pretty empty. That’s never a good sign, especially when you’re one of the few joints in town with a liquor license. Middling beer selection. Cocktail specials are uninspired. It’s the kind of place to meet for a drink before going to one of the surrounding restaurants that’s actually serving decent food. They’re serving a standard pub menu while doing nothing to elevate it or make it special at all. That being said, it’s reasonably priced. Just don’t expect to be wowed.

Nine taps of craft and macro brews, reasonably priced sandwiches and overpriced entrees, it’s a-ok for a beer & a meal, no doubt better in the summer when the patio is open. Don’t try to enter from the door on Prospect Street lol, look for the main entrance on the unnamed side road where there’s parking too. Mostly this review is a shout-out & thank-you to server Henry who was working the dining room totally alone on a very busy Wednesday evening — all tables full and more people waiting — kudos for hustling and doing pretty well. Contrast that with the clueless young host who stood around schmoozing seated tables while ignoring the line forming at his host stand, making all of us waiting for a table really question our judgement. The bar area is about as large as the restaurant. Those 9 taps included exactly one craft — Flying Fish from NJ — plus eight more macros: Paulaner, Newcastle, Stella, Guinness, Blue Moon, Labatt Blue, Yuengling, and Sam. Only $ 6 for a pint of Hopfish IPA, that’s extremely fair in 2015. If you’re in the dining room you might land fireside, that actually is a cozy spot in the winter. All the TVs on the walls are an unnecessary distraction tho. My dining companion ordered a pulled-pork sandwich with fries, heaping portion of heavily sauced meat with a smattering of coleslaw on a huge bun, a real steal at $ 11. The teenager got fried cod & chips, arrived smoking & steaming hot from the fryer, about exactly as good as this meal can ever be, not cheap at $ 15. I tried a seafood special: bay scallops, shrimp and lobster in a pink sauce over pasta, good and fairly generous with the seafood, but then again they better be for $ 22. Vegetarian ranting(instead of a rating): 2 stars and that’s pushing it bcos the choices are so thin. You can get a margarita pizza, an arugula & pear salad, or a portabello burger; that burger also has zucchini, eggplant, roasted peppers. Zero entrees are offered as veg, sole sammich is that burger.

We came here on a Saturday night. It wasn’t so crowded but had a decent amount of people seated for dinner. This place is good for both adults and kids. The menu isn’t that extent, but they have a good selection of food. We had the macaroni and cheese balls, which were awesome. My husband had the buffalo chicken and I had the corn beef. Both were good. The waiter was awesome and service was quick. The only thing I would say, is the restaurant itself needs updating, a paint job and dimming lights. It was way to bright inside. If they did that, the feel would be totally different. Needless to say, we will be back.

If you’re looking for a local tavern this is it. Great happy hour. Pretty low key environment. Food is decent — won’t blow your socks off but it’s so cheap it makes it worth it. I also will weigh in that the Mac n’ cheese balls are fantastic. Service can be slow but the wait staff is really nice.

I’ve been here for lunch twice, and so far I’ve had nothing but good experiences. When you walk into the building, you get the sense of history, as it turns out the building was built in the 1800s as a coal company for the nearby railroad. You got to love historical landmarks. The craft beer selection is pretty good! They have couple craft beers on tap and about eleven different bottled craft beers. All the craft brews are very good, I really liked the Pranqster Belgian and the Wyld Extra Pale Ale. Also, the Bartender told us that they were going to be expanding their taps, which is pretty awesome! I used the Unilocal check in offer for a free app. I got the Macaroni and Cheese Balls, which were super tasty and was served in a pink sauce. I would have never thought to serve Mac and Cheese balls with a pink sauce, but I got to tell ya, I now couldn’t picture them without it. For lunch, I got the Cuban Sandwhich, which was another awesome dish. It had the perfect combination of ham, pork, Swiss, pickles, and mustard; when you get that combination right(once it’s grilled) you get this beautiful flavor that really makes the Cuban Sandwhich what it is. The bar staff are very personable, the bartender actually remembered my friend and I from our last visit five months prior. Such a cool little spot.

It has been quite some time since I have been to Prospect Tavern. The place is quaint looking and probably an historic building. The staff is extremely attentive and very friendly. Water glasses were always kept full. We arrived early on a Saturday evening looking for a light dinner. We were seated in a great corner booth, I love booths. What I really liked is that there were only two of us in my party and they could have put us at any two top scattered in the dining room but they put us in this very nice booth instead. When I checked in to Unilocal we were offered 10% off or a free appetizer, we chose the appetizer. We ordered potato skins. The potato skins were delicious and each potato was covered with two full pieces of bacon, when have you ever seen that?! I ordered the prime rib sandwich and my husband ordered the salmon wrap. We both had sweet potato fries with NO up charge. My sandwich was very large, very good but a little fatty. The wrap was very generous as well and my husband loved it. The menu could use a little updating but there is plenty of variety. Next time perhaps I will have a salad. They have a really nice patio with tables that I would like to try in the warmer weather. Will we return? Yes we will.

Solid free appetizer offer, always friendly staff, and a good fun environment. The bartending staff is always very nice and are pretty good with remembering repeat customers names. Overall they are very professional while also being fun. Would come again. Actually definitely will. Maybe even later tonight.
