Good food and lots of sauce choices! Collard greens and sweet potato casserole is my favorite. The sweet tea is Real Georgia style SWEET diabetic goodness! *BEWARE* for CCL«weapon permit holders» Mall signs say in tiny writing **no weapons on the property** and it’s not in the safest part of town!

The most food for the $$. Great and very friendly staff. The smell on sweet smoked meat hits you in the nose as you walk in. This is my second time and each time I brought friends from other states to sample southern BBQ. Happy to report we had some very happy campers!

I was asked to leave because I asked my server twice to remake my fries. The server was slow and the manager was rude. It was the assistant not the store manager.

THISISWHY… You should check them out… * Food all had deep rich not over powering smoke flavor * Tender ribs, Not fatty or par boiled * Ms. Peggy — The sweetest, most welcoming lady with a touch of down home humor. like meeting a Norman Rockwell grandmother. * Collards– tender w no large stems, not greasy although lacking just a little more pork flavor but perfect for the more health conscious BBQ diner. * Cheesy Mac and cheese and not out of a box. No Char, no panko crumbs just good old plain mac & cheese * Salad bar w meal — Ya gotta get your veggies in * Peach cobbler… I was too full to have any, but it looked good! Located 1.5 miles inside 475 on the south side of the Macon Mall.

i stopped here for lunch one day while visiting Macon. I was able to get seated quickly at a table for one which is a plus. I don’t mind eating alone but I hate when I have to sit at a huge table or in a booth all by myself. My server was super sweet and very attentive. This seemed to be the case with the other servers as well based on what I could overhear from other tables. I haven’t had BBQ in a while but knew that I had to get some while in GA and this place did not disappoint. The portions are huge. I had the fried pickles as an appetizer and the pulled pork platter with fried okra and collard greens. The fried pickes and okra were amazing. They held their shape without the breading just sliding off in a soggy mess. The collard greens were super flavorful. I didn’t even come close to eating it all and had to take it home. The food was delicious. The sweet tea was a little bland. The salad bar was lacking though. The ingredients that were out just didn’t seem very fresh and I personally don’t see the point in piling a plate full of wilted greens just to drown it all in ranch dressing. Still, I was pretty impressed that I was able to get all of that food – which honestly was enough for two people – for less than $ 25. I’ll definitely be stopping in again if I’m ever in the area.

This is my favorite BBQ place to eat! I LOVE getting the select 3, I always have enough for a meal the next day. Good buffet style salad and dessert bar.

It was lunch time and one of few eateries in the desolate Macon Mall. We were seated quickly, ordered sweet tea for the table and THAT was delicious! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, fries and fried okra. The pulled pork was super dry and I sauced it up with the hot bbq and it still didn’t help much. I ate half of it and slurped more sweet tea. Honestly I don’t know why we come here, it’s not that good. Oh wait, my 3 year old niece loves this place but what does she know? … 3 year old taste buds are still developing. I think this will be my last visit to Smokin Pig and thanks for helping to keep the Macon Mall open. #sad

I’ve eaten here 3 times and every time it is the bomb! The pulled pork, brisket and smoked chicken sandwiches are amazing! Food portions are huge so you can easily share a meal. They offer dessert and salad bar which is a huge plus with kids! Wait staff has always been great as well.

I was finally able to stop in & give this place a try. My coworker often gets take-out & it always looks so good. Well I’m happy that I was not disappointed! The place is family friendly(I had my 2&4yr old with me) & the food came quick. We got the brisket sandwich & kids ribs & grilled cheese. Collards & Mac & cheese were our sides. Everything was tasty & seasoned well. The portions(even the kids) were large & we had enough for lunch the next day. I will definitely be going back for dine in or take out!

Best BBQ I’ve ever had in the state of Georgia. I was a little leary, I think Georgia BBQ is highly overrated, but this place is fantastic! Usually a restaurant thats not focused on the Cue is going to be a disappointment, when I saw the breadth of the menu that also features steaks, catfish and shrimp I let out a low moan, like I’ve seen this movie before. But with the encouragement of another diner, I ordered the Trio and it was terrific. The ribs were tender and had great texture, the chicken was smokiley delicious, and the pork was tender and had great flavor. A variety of sauces to satisfy most everybody(no white sauce), a nice salad bar that was included in the meal as well as a desert bar with an amazing peach cobbler that I will return for another sampling. My first impression was that the Smok’n Pig was overpriced, but after dining there I think its a pretty good value. If you’re traveling 75 give this place a try.

It’s curb appeal is fantastic! A beautiful front to a restaurant that is built into the side of a mall which is dying. The restaurant appears to be fairly new, probably open in the last 2 to 3 years. The menu has a lot of different things on it. Hamburgers, ribs, smoked chicken, Beef and pork barbecue. Something for the kids also. The dining room is nice. They play country music overhead which fits the atmosphere. The seats are very comfortable. Lots of color mixed in with a rustic cabin feel. The sandwiches appear to be overpriced even though they come with two sides. They charge a $ 2.99 surcharge if you want to add a salad bar. I think they are pushing you towards the platters which have a meat, two«trimmings» and includes salad bar and the dessert bar, which has peach cobbler and banana pudding. They also had a soft-serve ice cream machine but, it had a sign on it stating«out of order». The food was good. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was excellent. As is usually the case, nonalcoholic beverages are largely overpriced. My unsweet tea was $ 1.99. Some places charge more, but still, I think this is a rip off. At least they listed the prices in the menu, unlike so many restaurants these days. I had the pulled pork, with baked beans and fried okra. Everything was just lukewarm except the baked beans which burnt my mouth. Take it slow, grasshopper! I did make one trip to the salad bar which caused me to have insufficient room for the rest of my meal. The salad bar was fairly fresh. Honey mustard dressing was noticeably absent. In this day and age, I would think that is one of the ones that definitely should have been available. They probably would have had it, especially considering they have chicken strips on the menu, but I did not ask. My drink never went empty. A very attentive young lady waited on me nicely. She was not overbearing though. The dessert bar did have some very delicious peach cobbler, I did not try the banana pudding. Of course, as mentioned above, the soft-serve ice cream machine was out of order. It would’ve been nice to add to my peach cobbler. They sent me away with a to go cup which was a nice touch. Overall, I was torn between getting it three and four stars. I would have given them for stars had it been a bit more reasonably priced. I would return. I ended up here because the Sonny’s barbecue approximately 1 mile from here, had gone out of business. Presumably, because of the barbecue competition. There’s another barbecue restaurant within 1.5 miles of here.

When I was a kid, sometimes people might ask my grandmother how she was doing and she’d reply, «Fair to middlin’.» This was her way of saying not terrible, but not outstanding. The first few times I went to Smok’n Pig, this was true for them too. However, the more often that I went and the wider array of dishes I tried, the better it got. Now, this restaurant sits comfortably in my standard rotation. The first time I went to the Smok’n Pig, I mistakenly ordered the grilled shrimp and they said they could make it buffalo style. Well, I received a small kettle of shrimp that looked like it had been boiled instead of grilled. Also, they had the tails still attached which I personally am not a fan of. There was no buffalo sauce in sight and when I made the server aware of this, she brought some out on the side which was ok, but nothing to write home about. I had collard greens and green beans as my side items. Both came in small plastic cups. All of the sides here come in said cups, which I find to be a good thing because if you have leftovers, they bring you lids that fit snugly over them. The second time I went, I decided to order the barbecue(since it is a barbecue restaurant and all) and it was actually much, much better. The sauce selection is a wide variety of sugary, thick sauce. I prefer the thin, vinegar-based sauce, myself. But that’s just my opinion. The meat itself was tasty and the coleslaw on the sandwich was good. For side items this time, I tried the baked beans and the sweet potato soufflé. The beans were tasty, if not a little too saucy, and I’m still not sure what made the sweet potatoes a soufflé but they were ok too. In subsequent visits, I have tried the brisket and pork deluxe and it is very, very good. Sometimes their brisket can be a little dry, but if you get it on a day when everything is clicking in the kitchen, it is some of the best brisket around! The collard greens have become my new side dish of choice and the chili, when in season, is wonderful. Some of the sides(such as the collards) come with a big piece of sweet cornbread and it is simply amazing. All in all, if you go here, get the barbecue. If you aren’t really a fan of it the first time, go back for another try. They are inexpensive enough that it won’t hurt you to give them a second chance. I’m really glad that I went back. Oh, and I didn’t even mention the salad bar. The variety is small, but the items on it are quite good and it comes with a free desert bar(banana pudding, ice cream, and killer peach cobbler).

We dropped in with our party of three on a Sunday night around 7 after a full day of shopping. First, I was surprised by the sheer size of the place! I mean, it’s really, really huge. Anyways, our hostess walked us right by the salad bar(thanks for that – couldn’t resist it) and sat us all the way in the back where we had a view of the inside of the dead mall. Tables are a good size and there is plenty of elbow room. They have an array of sauces to choose from including original, sweet and spicy, and a mustard base among among a few others. We sampled them all and I liked the original best. The menu is a simple paper menu with several protein options and sides. I actually went to Unilocal to see what others enjoyed since I couldn’t decide and I finally decided on the«Three Little Bulls» which is three mini shave prime rib sandwiches on seeded buns. Each one is about the size of my hand and had meat falling out the sides. Oh so delicious! I chose to substitute my sides for the salad bar, and I’m glad I did. Here’s why: My hubby ordered the pork platter which includes two sides and the salad and desert bar. He asked for mac and cheese and green beans. My momma ordered the Prime Rib sandwich without sides and the salad bar and a side of shrimp. Waitress comes back to tell us that she is sorry but they’re out of shrimp. She then comes back about 2 minutes later and apologizes again but says they’re out of green beans and that the truck doesn’t come until tomorrow. I understand that, I do, but it was almost starting to get comical. We asked her what do they have and she said everything else except shrimp and green beans. Broccoli salad it is! Salad bar was awesome, except the tomatoes were watery(definitely not your homegrown type). I was going to go back for a second round, but we never got new salad bowls, and that’s our fault for not asking, but at the same time she also never came back to the table to check on us until our entrees came out. I didn’t once get a refill on my drink, once again that was my fault for not asking, but she also never took the initiative to ask. The«Three Little Pigs» were delicious and served with a side of au jus. The prime rib sandwich is literally a steak on top of Texas toast. She ended up asking for a knife and eating the steak as is instead of making it a sandwich. She said it was good though. The mac and cheese was not flavorful at all. I was disappointed and so was my hubby. The broccoli slaw threw me off because I didn’t know it was so sweet. He liked it though. I’m sure all the sides come from a can anyways. We got our leftovers boxed up and mom asked for a bowl for the dessert bar(Here’s where it really does get comical). She got some peach cobbler and went for vanilla ice cream and it was also out and ended up just being chocolate in the«swirl.» If we come back, we’ll have to make note to come during the week when everything isn’t sold out.

I was looking forward to some southern BBQ. It was sunday, not too many places were open so we tried this place. The brisket and corn were the best things that we had ordered, the baby back ribs were dry and really not flavorful. It was a little disappointing to say the least. The service was fast even if not the friendliest.

I had to pull a couple of miles off of the 475 today to purchase a forgotten item at Accademy Sports and checked Unilocal for BBQ. This place pulled up close by and with great reviews. Unfortunately the map accessed from Unilocal took me a couple of miles to a location where this restaurant was not. I had to google the address and go another couple of miles in a different direction. Unfortunately I was on a very tight schedule to get to Tallahassee so I had to eat my food much faster than I wanted to. I got the pulled pork sandwich with the salad bar and it was great. I loved the six bottles of barbecue sauce on the table and experimented with each one. I think the vinegar, hot and mustard were my three favorite. I loved that my option included the desert bar as well and enjoyed the peach cobbler. I found my Macon lunch spot for my Tennesse-Tallahassee trips.

Best bbq deal in town. For the price of meal and the amount is a killer deal. It comes with a limited salad bar and a few deserts. Service had been a hit or miss but the food makes up for it.

I absolutely love this place! I used to attend school in Fort Valley and Macon was the nearest city(of civilization). I went to smoking pig with a friend and became hooked! All of their food is great! Delicious, nice smoked flavor, mouth watering. Yummy! Their salad bar is amazing too! All of the BBQ sauces they have to choose from is amazing! I held my graduation party here. It is a huge space great for any event! Service is wonderful! All female servers but they are nice and attentive. I have since moved back home from school and I occasionally drive down there just to get smoking pig! I highly recommend it to everyone!
