They advertise that they close at 10pm and I’m here at 9:40 and their doors are closed. Unfortunately I’m just here because I can’t find another place where they sell Mexican bread otherwise I would not be here. As it is I hardly come anyway

My quesadilla was missing the cheese… lol. Yeah, seriously missing the queso! So it was just a «dilla,» not a quesadilla. Lol. Im exaggerating, it just had little bits of cheese. Super skimpy amount, so little that i felt obligated to let you know, dear Unilocal reader. I ordered the pollo asado combo, which came with a tiny side of rice and beans. Idk, i think they were running low on supplies or something because even the chicken in my dilla was kinda low. Idk, its probably me… maybe im just used to eating cheese and chicken in my pollo asado quesadillas? :D The breakdown: Taste is good! Clean bathrooms! Delicious agua fresca! Parking sucks after 5 pm :(Customer service is strange, u get nice workers or angry workers. No inbetweens. All that aside, i would recommend it. Here’s why: the price is pretty average. So yeah, pay it a visit, more because u want to save $$ while getting a little flavorful snack.

We bought a torta cubana and the torta came directly on the tray. We tried to ignore this, but the food really wasn’t worth the price($ 22). The service was bad and there weren’t any condiments on the table at all.

Where do I start… okay from the beginning. Parking: it’s at the Plaza Alameda(there’s never parking!) Customer service: 2 ½ stars — nothing out of the ordinary — some are polite others are just here. Food: hit or miss! I always stick to sopes! I play it safe. Today my Mother ordered a Mar y Tierra $ 10.99 «molcajete» it came in a plastic plate/bowl with 4 shrimps that were under cooked. We told one of the ladies and she stated that the shrimps were cooked«but okay” — they weren’t! Don’t argue with a paying customer. We got 5 other shrimps that look better… I am afraid to taste them. Drinks: the Lemonade with Chia is good Restrooms: horrid! Overall experience: 3 stars more like 2 ½. The Gallo Giro on Pacific is better. Get it together EGG!

Food is delicious! I felt like I was coming down with a cold so I stopped by to get some caldo de res and a warm cup of champurrado. The excellent service is just another reason I frequent this place! Love, love, love this place!

This place change. I’m surprised they are still in business, not for long though. The food is not the same anymore. Rather go to El Gavillan. The food is great! delicious, you can serve your own drinks and they have salsa on the side and beans, onions, ect. you can get as much as you want.

The cashier was rude and she forgot to give me my horchata. Told her i needed my drink and she ignored me. Waited about 20 minutes for my food to be ready. At the time I was the only one, so there was no need for me to wait that long. Top it off food is pretty pricey and quality isn’t too great.

Are you freaking kidding me? Why does this always happen to me? I have some bad food luck. Anyways, I called ahead to place my order at this spot. I asked the paisa who answered the phone, what came with the taquito plate. They told me it was rice, beans, two taquitos and on top of the taquitos was lettuce, guacamole, sour cream and cheese. So I ordered that and asked for no rice just beans… I got my food and left. When I finally get to work, I sit down and open my food to start eating. I get a surprise(look at the picture attached). Dude, are you kidding me? Do you have to have a learning disability to work there or just be absolutely incompetent? Get it together El Gallo Giro… I WAS a paying customer who wanted to enjoy the best food you had to offer. I got two dry taquitos but at least you left ONE small piece of tomato on my plate. Geee thanks… I would have rather ate a hotdog wrapped in bacon sold from a homemade food cart.

This place is so expensive! Beware I spent 29 $ on 2 tacos rice beans and a tired looking shrimp cocktail plus 2 drinks. Also someone stole my phone. It’s a shady rip off type place! The FOODSUCKSSOBAD maybe they are just good with breakfast and tamales

This mexican restaurant is a rip off your money. Everything is too expensive. For two order of expensive normal tacos and expensive drinks I can go to Olive Garden instead. Plus is a noisy place with mariachi music that no one understand. I will never recomend it.

DONOTWASTEYOURMONEY. Ordered tacos, sopa de res, and cheese enchiladas. The vegetables for the soup were old and the soup itself didn’t have much taste, hardly any meat. COMPLETELY disappointed. The tacos were made with tortillas that are too hard, also felt like old tortillas. Seriously! What happened to this place? I don’t mind paying good money for goos food. This food was terrible and too pricey for its quality. However, I wouldn’t even eat the food even at lower price. Terrible food quality.

I had been craving a delicious chorizo con huevo breakfast plate for a while. I decided this would be a perfect spot to stop for breakfast after picking my Mom up from LAX(it’s right off the 105 at Plaza Mexico). I was sadly disappointed as they were out of everything we wanted. Chorizo con huevos? Out. Machaca? Out. Champurrado? Out. Jugo de naranja? Out. It was about 10AM and I asked the lady at the counter if we’d come too late or if there had been a big rush, but she said they were just making some of these things. Really? It’s kinda late for breakfast and you are just making them? I had also expected to find the restaurant packed since it’s in this cute little plaza, but I was surprised parking was no problem and the line was short. I guess that should have been a clue. So my review is based on what we were finally able to order, a breakfast burrito, a breakfast torta and 2 tamales(pork and chicken — they were out of beef!). The food was OK. Nothing to go out of your way for. The café de la olla was very delicious, but I’m certainly not coming back just for coffee. The lady at the counter also had a rude attitude. I can imagine it was frustrating to keep telling me they were out of stuff and it’s certainly not her fault, but having a better attitude would have helped. I will definitely be back to this charming little plaza, but not this restaurant.

Great place for standard Mexican fare, cafeteria style. This place is located in Plaza Mexico in Lynwood which I think is brilliant! Great place to be in the mood for some tacos, tortas, pozole, aguas frescas, or anything else you can think of. The customer service, music and atmosphere of this restaurant is great too! You feel like you’ve entered a little pocket of Mexico without actually having crossed the border. So why only 3 stars? This restaurant was closed for a while for«remodeling,» truth is, it looks the same as before minus the salsa bar. Several Gallo Giro locations closed permanently; it seems that the chain suffered money issues and it is evident in their lack of consistency in quality. My hope is that they return to their glory days and stop over cooking the beans and putting the beans in the same container with the rice, like a ghetto eatery. Don’t let this review discourage you, their food quality has suffered, but it’s still damned good compared to most places! It’s just not as good as it used to be, that’s all.

Usually all Gallo Giro’s are great but this one did not make the grade. Ordered a taco of Buche and one of Trompa. Both were horrible. The Buche was hard as if it was old and the Trompa was worse. Smelled bad and tasted worse. As if spoiled. I have eaten these 2 meats hundreds of times at different Gallo Giro’s but at this location it was not edible. If I get food poisoning later I know why. I left the Trompa and walked out after I barely was able to swallow the Buche. Never will come back here again. Bad impulse choice because I only stopped in because I dove by and saw it and instantly craved Trompa
