do not stay here. our room smelled like raw sewage and there was clearly something very wrong with the plumbing. others on the floor had the issue as well but the front desk employee was extremely unhelpful. she refused to come into the room, acknowledged how«disgusting» it smelled from standing in the hall, and gave us the run around for 2 hours until we were finally able to get in touch with the manager. a real disappointment for our valentines weekend getaway. thankfully another area hotel was able to get us a room at 11 pm once the manager at the Craddock Terry was able to «get back to us» and verify they would allow us to leave without charging us for the room. the hotel was attractive looking but the smell was nauseating and the employees were extraordinarily unhelpful. also, there was a very loud event and a train rumbling under the window. just a no across the board. 0 stars.

The Craddock is a beautiful yet cozy boutique hotel with excellent customer service. I stayed here for two nights and was more than impressed with the room and amenities. Visually stunning rooms with high ceilings and comfortable beds, nice mountain views, and a decent bathroom setup. The little details were what made my stay so memorable– especially coming home to my window curtains lowered and bed ready to sleep in! I also thought the shoe theme, given the hotel’s history, was cute– a little weird at first– but it grows on you. We also ate at Shoemaker’s restaurant for a rehearsal dinner and the staff went above and beyond to make it a good experience. There’s a reason this hotel is rated so well. If you’re in Lynchburg or the general area, see it for yourself!

Hands down, the best place to stay in Lynchburg. The renovated building is beyond adorable, and each room/suite is unique, with customized furnishings, fixtures, and more. There is a breakfast — one per room — included in the price. When we last went(a couple of months ago), we ordered two breakfasts: croissants, brie, fruit, juices — and the extra breakfast cost something like $ 7. No continental breakfast, obviously, because there are two restaurants attached to the hotel — the Waterstone and Shoemakers, both decent if crowded and loud. The personal products here are some of the most luxurious available outside of a spa retreat. There are no takesies — they leave large containers and inform you that you’ll be billed if you attempt it — but the bathrooms are incomparable to other local hotels. It’s on the pricey side — like, three times what you’d pay for the Marriott in town — so think about what cute and/or downtown location means to you in dollars — and then book away!(Incidentally, the Holiday Inn on Main St. downtown is pretty alright, too, and less than half the price.)
