Stayed here for three nights. I’m glad I did. We stayed in the Hayloft Suite, which is great for a girlfriend’s weekend away. There’s two beds and a nice deep tub. There’s a common room with the tv and DVD player. The breakfasts were four course and fantastic. The walk to downtown is not far and connects to a nice trail system.

Kudos & «Dittos» Kudos to Kathy and Mike, the Innkeepers and renovators of this wonderful home in Lynchburg. And«ditto» to all the positive reviews that others have posted. What a labor of love! Meticulously revitalized, the house is a wonder – incredible staircase, fabulous wooden moldings, beautiful period antiques. Our room was huge, the bed fabulously comfortable(the sheets were awesome), nice sitting area, desk, and the period bathroom was lovely. The hosts are truly hosts, concerned about every detail without being overbearing, pleasant and delightful to talk to. Breakfast was top-notch, fresh fruit from their garden, piping hot and tasty frittata. We really can’t say enough to compliment this B&B. We had a full weekend of activities and this was a welcomed respite. Our only regret was that we were only there for one night! Highly recommended.

We came to a conference here and rather than stay in a boring hotel our choice was The Carriage House. So glad we did and it beats any hotel hands down. What a wonderful breakfast and the hayloft rooms are to die for.

Gracious people, and elegant yet comfy eco-friendly accommodations. They worked around mr special dietary needs and brought out a lovely breakfast with organic herbs from their garden, fresh local eggs, and some homemade dairy-free pastries that were out of this world. They were enthusiastic about the history(and architecture) of the Inn and the town, but took their cue from me and other guests about how much info to impart at a given time. In other words, if you prefer a very«quiet getaway» experience, no problem. Fascinating antiques, beautifully re-finished woodwork. I can’t wait to return this coming summer!

As B&Bs go, this one is 5-star from check in to check out. The beautiful 1800’s mansion was refurbished just a few years ago, while the separate stable was converted(flawlessly) into two additional rooms. Owners Mike and Kathy were welcoming as could be, and made sure our stay was enjoyable as could be. They even went to the lengths of leaving helpful info and the following day’s breakfast menu on our bed each evening. The rooms are not only clean and welcoming, but remain in period décor, thankfully with working AC and functional bathrooms :) Breakfast was beyond fabulous– Kathy prepared juices, coffee, yogurt, fruit creations, and a scrumptious French toast croissant with warm green apple slices. To say this place was«quaint and nice» would be doing The Carriage House a great disservice; rather, it is a classy and serene locale, with plenty to do within a 20-minute drive! I would without a doubt recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic getaway with plenty to do aside from enjoying the country life. To do locally: wineries, rafting, tubing, outdoor year-round skiing, museums, visit Jefferson’s other home, bike, hike, dine out, etc. Came with a package deal from — and am thrilled I picked this«escape package» — worth every penny.
