Shannon Ridge Family of Wines at Vigilance Vineyards

Got a free bottle of Stone Ridge wine from a place we were staying with a free wine tasting pass. The wine was really bad, but thought hey lets go see the vineyard and try some free wine.
It was a great idea! The place feels very secluded and has a beautiful view of nature.
We went on a Friday before they were closing so there was no one there but us so we got perfect customer service! Tried 5 different types of wine and they were all surprisingly good!
Ended up leaving with two bottles :)
Would recommend for sure

Stunning views, beautiful grounds, excellent wines.
As you come over the hill the view will take your breath away. The tasting room is a renovated old country house with a rustic feel. The surrounding deck overlooks the beautiful vineyards, picnic tables and bocce court.
A nice selection of wines are available to taste from Vigilance and Shannon Ridge. And in typical Lake County fashion; they are excellent and affordable. The Sauvignon Blanc and Petite Sirah were notable. The $ 5 tasting fee is waived with a $ 20 purchase. I would definitely include this winery on a Lake Co tour and its conveniently right across the road from my personal favorite Gregory Graham.

Two stars ONLY because we LOVE their lamb! Didn’t know they had moved. Had planned on stopping during our return trip from Fort Bragg. Saw the large sign (still) on our way up, so didn’t give it any thought. So disappointed, upon returning, to learn they’d moved off our usual path. :(Won’t be returning, as their current location is out of our way. Their wine was only so-​so anyway, we really were only drawn to the lamb.
Sooo, made an unscheduled stop at the beautiful brand-​spanking new tasting room about 10 minutes down the road. Were NOT disappointed and didn’t have to go out of our way! Missed out on the lamb though. Going to have to find a new more local source.
Edited: because I realize they’re now called ‘Vigilance’. Can’t find anything about their once wonderful lamb. Without that, I’d drop this to about half a star.

Beautiful view with great wine, what more could you want other than reasonable prices. Oh yes they have that too.

Spectacular views from this winery. The view of the vineyard and lake alone is worth a visit. The Chardonnay was great — I bought four bottles — but I wasn’t a big fan of any of the reds. They also raise their own lamb and sell the meat. When we went they had a BBQ going and were giving out free samples. The samples were delicious but the meat was a little on the pricey side to buy. If you’re in the area definitely worth a stop.

Fabulous tasting room with breathtaking views. And the wine is great. Michael did a great job of juggling the crowd in the room. He still managed to give us individual attention even when the crowd came in behind us. We bought several bottles of the great wine and could have hung out for the afternoon if we hadn’t had more wineries to visit that day. This is a must visit. You won’t be disappointed.

Great ambience. Wonderful service. Amazing wine. This is the place where you can walk the Vineyard Pathway — about a mile walk through the vineyard grounds. Stunning views! We were greeted by Michael and his easy going attitude helped us feel at ease. There is a bocce court outside and picnic tables for a nice relaxing time — we had lunch there and enjoyed the wine afterward. I am not a wine connoisseur but it was fun to experience the fruits of their labor.

View: great. Tasting room ambience: good. Service: poor.
The key to our experience was being pretty much ignored by the staff, who had to be called over repeatedly to move us through the tasting.

Spectacular views on this winery overlooking Lower Lake. Ely was friendly and welcoming. The wines are very good and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend.

Found their wine in bevmo and was hooked. Finally made it up there to the tasting room and and had a great time! Love the wine and the employees are great. Michael has helped us both times we’ve been up and has done a great job on informing us of the history and club events of the winery. Besides the service and the views from the tasting room. They have a great picnic area where you can pop a bottle and just hang out.
Great wine for a great price. All of their reds are solid stress relievers. Make a point of stopping by.

We recently bought a house in Lake County and decided to check out some wineries. Vigilance is one of our favorites — the location has spectacular views. The tasting room is quaint and rustic — feels very homey. The people that work there always are smiling and very interesting to talk with. We LOVE the wines and whenever people come to visit us, we always take them to this winery.

Love the wine… especially the whites! Eli made the tasting especially nice with his lake knowledge and wine expertise. Not pretentious and great views too! Planned on buying a bottle, bought a half case.

This is one of those places where you drive up and you hope they serve food because you know you are going to spend a lot of time there. The view is awesome, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and their patio is the perfect stop to take a chilled glass of white wine and enjoy the sun and the view.

I blame my guy for introducing me to the wines of Lake County. It’s really his fault that I cannot walk away without a case of wine.

Vigilance wines make up a large part of those cases. Not only does the tasting room stun you with jaw-​droppingly gorgeous views of the lake and Anderson Marsh, the wines are stunning too. I love their blends, especially their zinfandel based Dalliance. It’s a fantastic everyday red, a highlight in a lineup of easy-​drinking and affordable wines.
On top of all that, it’s always a party! The people manning the tasting room are friendly and fun. There’s a bocce ball court and picnic tables full of regulars and locals in warm days. It’s worth a trip north to check out this winery.

I have a hard time abiding the pretension that so frequently goes along with wine tasting. It’s hard to find both good wine and a place I want to be when I’m tasting it.
Vigilance hits the nail on the head.
The wine is good, for a start. I’m impressed by their versatility. On my first visit, I decided to get a half case. They were pouring 6 wines, and I ended up with a bottle of each. Rarely would I do that. The prices are also quite reasonable, making it an excellent value.
Beyond that, the tasting has always been low-​key and friendly. Everybody I’ve met there has been genuinely nice and easy to talk to. The location is beautiful too, with a fantastic view down to the lake.
Vigilance is a place I’ll be sure to hit whenever I’m in Lake County. I hope their winning recipe can survive the increasing popularity of Lake County wines!

We were directed here by their sister winery, Shannon Ridge. I loved how knowledgeable the staff was and I loved the view. The tasting itself? It was really good, it reminded me of the tasting I used to go to back on the East Coast. Meaning that they actually guide you along, ask you to really savour the taste and try a piece of chocolate to see how the taste changes with it. The wines tasted like what they were touted to taste like — overall it was a great experience!

My daughter came to visit and first on her list of things she wanted to do was wine tasting of course. After all Lake County’s reputation for growing award winning wines is growing by leaps & bounds! I was very proud to start with Vigilance, and not just because it was the closest. I’d been there in the past and knew I could count on them to make a wonderful 1^st impression– and they did! We were greeted warmly, presented with some very good choices of wine to taste and enjoyed the view and a short walk through the vineyard for a photo op. Only bad thing was having to leave! We could have stayed there all day drinking up the view– if only I had remembered my picnic basket which was being enjoyed back at home by my husband and his buddy. When in Lake County, California whether to wine taste, or enjoy any of the other many amenities found here don’t pass miss Vigilance Winery & Vineyards!!! You’ll think you’ve died and gone to Tuscany!

I went here while on vacation with my wife. There are really good wines produced here for very low prices. It really should be a crime! The staff was friendly and took us on a tour of the vineyards. We ended up buying a bottle with a picnic kit of goat cheese, smoked salmon and crackers and sat outside at the picnic benches and enjoyed the glorious view of a Clear Lake and the vineyards. I know Lake County has a bad reputation, but if your a true oenophile you should make the trip out to this winery.

My Sister and I stopped by Vigilance on our way to our vacation home this past weekend. The wine was fantastic and the customer service was awesome. They have the most beautiful view too! To top it off they were having a penny sale. when you bought 1 bottle you got the second one for a penny. You can’t get better than that. I will definitely be back.

We stumbled upon this place on accident on NYE as we were trying to find another winery down the road. Boy am i glad we did! We immediately fell in love with this place the moment we drove past the entrance gate. The views reminded me of tuscany, and I can only imagine how much more beautiful it is during the spring! A total hidden gem.
We were excited it was open as we were greatly dissapointed with some of the other wineries nearby that were closed on nye. We were amazed at just how beautiful and serene this place was. There’s picnic tables in the front, and there are guided tours in their cellar. Meredith greeted us warmly as we walked in the door. She informed us that the place just opened in October of this year (they have both shannon ridge as well as vigilance wine here). Because we were the only guests there for quite a while, we got her full attention, and she was super knowledgeable and super sweet. A total southern bell she was! She gave us complimentary additional tastings as well and answered all our questions. Needless to say, there were 4 of us gals there, and we left with half a case of wine. I’m excited to come back here in the spring when the vineyards are in full bloom. Perfect place for an intimate gorgeous wedding (or proposal)!!!
