When traveling, I attempt to stay at an HGI because of the amenities and quality. For the most part, this property was adequate. However, it needs some work to truly meet expectations. After reporting that the adjustable bed had issues(wouldn’t adjust and I woke up in a hammock formation), allegedly someone fixed it. Unfortunately, two more nights in the deflated bed that would not change the firmness. As a Hilton Diamond member, I will be asking this question prior to checking from now on. My associate identified the same problem but the desk folks seemed to think it was operator error. I guess they would prefer to just say it is taken care of. The bar is not a bar. It reminds me of my kitchen at home. That may be the look they are going for. The dining area at night is not welcoming, so it is easy to cross the parking lot to a restaurant. The morning breakfast was truly the best. Tamaki served so many people with a smile and keep such a fast pace. This was the highlight of the stay. Overall, it is an adequate property… clean, safe, etc. However, if not for the excellent service at breakfast, I would be rating this more as a 2. Some strategic thinking and consideration on the part of management and the owners is in order.

I booked this hotel blindly for a work trip without much research; trusting the Hilton name. There weren’t many hotels available the night I needed to stay. The location was easy to find, in what seems to be a safe area of town– it’s a short drive from St. Matthews area, where I had business that day. It’s in a «sub-division» of other popular hotel chains. The lobby was inviting and busy, filled with families when I checked in around 9:30pm. The front desk was very nice, in true Hilton fashion. I hate to generalize, but I must admit, I tend to look for aLofts and Sheratons before choosing a Hilton, for a couple of reasons. I find aLofts are all newer and cater to demographic closer to my age. Both reasons why I may not choose to stay at this hotel again. The doors provide little noise buffering and I could hear kids running the halls up until midnight, where it calmed down, only after two grown men dukes it out in the hallway about whether one’s children should be more respectful of the noise and time. While you certainly can’t predict who your hotel guests will be, I didn’t get much sleep due to the bed being extremely worn in– I describe it best to the comfort level of a pull out sofa, where you can feel the metal bars underneath. While I chose not to ask for a new room, which I could have, I expect a little more from a Hilton. I give it three stars since I would stay there again if nothing better was available, but it would not be my first choice, mainly due to its(what I assume to be) older mattresses.
