UPDATE #2: WOW! Not only did GCD send us a GC for our troubles, they sent us a $ 25GC to ToyRUs for our son because it was his birthday! GREATPEOPLE and they did not have to do that! Food quality has never been in question and now I know how nice they are I can’t help but feel optimistic about humanity!(wink) UPDATED: The owner Chris gave me a call a day later and was sorry about the situation. As most would agree, a simple call can go a long way. We will go back to GCD for two reasons; 1. the food is fantastic and 2. the owner cares about his product. We need more folks like this in the restaurant biz. Thank you. Welp. Hate to be the party pooper, but i have real beef with GCD right now. We walked in with no wait(amazingly) around 11:20 on a Sunday morning with a party of nine. They had just hung up with a party request for 12 on the phone, mind you roughly at the exact time we were PRESENT in the restaurant with our party. We discussed this with the hostess and manager present and left the conversation thinking common sense had won the day(the party present at the same time as the call would take precedence.) we were wrong. After waiting over an hour(we expected some wait) the party of 12 we discussed was sat before us. I didn’t raise too much fuss thinking there was going to be a ‘mass seating’ of both tables. Nope. We waited another ten minutes only to be split up like we had requested not to be. We left. Unless GCD goes to an all reservation set up, they made a customer service mistake and it wasn’t the first time they’ve done this to us(skipped us on the wait list a previous time with a party of three. They apologized. We moved in, no biggie.) this time was unacceptable as it was my son’s 5th birthday and he had requested GCD. Nice goin’ peeps. Ruined a kids birthday.

We had breakfast here on 12÷27÷15. We had spent the night at the Hampton Inn nearby and opted for Goose Creek Diner because we don’t like Hampton breakfasts. Well, this was basically a Hampton breakfast except for $ 15 each instead of free. Boring bland food in a kind of grimy buffet set up. Not appetizing at all and we’d never go back.

Thank you for a fantastic Sunday brunch! I’m so overwhelmed by the food, staff and atmosphere that I don’t know where to start. The Hot Brown Casserole is fantastic! Their buffet only brunch is perfect for everyone in your group from the breakfast appetite to the lunch as their fried chicken is extra special. I can’t even begin to say enough about Thomas the«omelet, eggs Benedict, waffle, crêpe and whatever else you can imagine» maker. The crepes were made gently and eggs Benedict with style. Great job Goose Creek!!! Thanks to James for keeping our coffee fresh and us feeling welcomed.

This review is based off the Sunday brunch buffet. There were several items to choose from from eggs to baby back ribs. I went the breakfast route because that’s what I was craving. As far as that type of food there were scrambled eggs, cheese grits, fried potatoes, bacon, ham, biscuits and sausage gravy. There was also another table where the cook prepared pancakes, crepes, omelettes and stuffed french toast. I didn’t go as far as looking at the other food, but I see they offered baby back ribs, diced fruit(pineapple and melon), veggies, salad, cheesecake and other desserts. Since I only had breakfast let me only critique that. I was surprised they didn’t have sausage on the menu. I could tell the eggs weren’t real, and the sausage gravy was from a powdered mix. It was confirmed later the eggs actually came from a carton when I saw someone from the kitchen bring a container out to the omelette guy. I must admit it was a bit disappointing. On a more positive note the bacon was yummy, and even if the gravy was powder before it was still good. The eggs on the other hand were super bland and in little pebbles because they were scrambled to smithereens! Not my fav. I enjoyed the cheese grits and also my blueberry pancake. As far as the price goes, I personally don’t think it was worth $ 14. Especially considering I only had one plate. Maybe if I would have really went buffet gung-ho I would have felt better about the price. If they dropped it to $ 11.99 I might come back. Service was good, the staff were friendly, food is reasonably priced on the menu, and they had club music pumping through the speakers(this made me giggle). Ya know, it’s convenient because I live across the street and did serve the purpose of feeding my belly. I also didn’t try everything, so more than likely I’ll give it another whirl and make an updated review later.

This is a great diner. It does not get 4 stars because it’s fancy, hipster or modern like a lot of highly rated restaurants. It gets 4 stats because I ordered food and got it within ten minutes. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are friendly. The food is good, and they have liver and onions — the first place I’ve encountered that sells this in the area(the first time I’ve ordered it!). Overall, I would recommend for a casual dinner. Probably not a first date.

Love this cute lil diner!!! Went on a Monday evening and to my surprise their fried green tomatoes were on special for under $ 2.00!!! I had them and also ordered smokey tomato dressing to dip them in… truely outstanding!!! That dressing/dip is a must have, TDF! Next being new to the Louisville area I decided to finally try a «Hot Brown». For 11.99 and served with a salad, how could I go wrong? The salad withe the smokey tomato dressing was delicious! Next came my sandwich… one of the best sandwiches Ive ever eaten!!! It was hot and smelled like heaven! !! I devoured it in minutes! !! Wanted to try dessert but I was too full… something to look forward to on my next trip because I will for sure be going back OFTEN!!! The service was quick and very attentive, my drink never got less than half full. keep up the great work! !! All in all this place ROCKS!

Table for 6. A bit cramped. But very good food. Fried green tomatoes and pickles great. All entres are home spun. Reminiscent of Cracker Barrel, but higher quality, and home made not institutional. Deserts looked great, we were too full to try any.

Total diner, so set your expectation! Not a fancy place, with exposed brick and live music… straight up diner. If you are ready to eat some good food and literally feast on Sunday morning buffet then you’re good to go. Omelet’s and eggs benedict to order was totally legit. Their hollandaise sauce had a bit of a kick, almost like Franks red hot got dumped into it, but good. just expect that as I don’t think they have plain. They also had a good variety of food from fried chicken to shrimp pasta dish. I loved the place, would totally go there and will be back again!

Totally enjoyed the Sunday brunch. Plenty of tasty choices and very friendly staff. Our waitress was Kara, and she was great with seeing to our needs, and always had a smile for all. We called ahead to put our name on the list, which was recommended in a previous review, which I’d recommend for others, especially if getting there during the after church crowd time. Even with a crowd, all foods were well stocked on the buffet line. Loved the sweet potato casserole, the cheesy grits, and the waffles. I will definitely be back and will recommend this establishment to others when looking for a yummy Sunday brunch.

I am giving this 5 stars BUT you need to know what to expect. This is NOT fine dining. The dining room is plain and functional. Patrons ranged from families with kids to sometimes looking like an AARP reunion. This is simple home cooking, stuff your momma made, country fare. And done amazingly well. Your plates will come out looking like something from a ‘60s Morrison cafeteria. But the food is just awesome. They have a «creek sauce» that is ranch with cayenne, paprika and other herbs that is wonderful for dipping. Fresh mini corn muffins come automatically. All the sides are homemade. We ordered 6 different types and shared. And we fought over finishing everyone of them. Everything was awesome. I ordered 4 pc Fried Chicken. Hand breaded. The dark meat was perfect and juicy. The breast was tough– as a chef myself I expect the skillet cooked all the pcs at once as the breast many times overcooks to make sure the dark meat gets done. One quick comment and the server returned with 2 pcs to replace our 1 breast. Service is beyond stellar. The front operates like a team as I saw other servers helping throughout the room. With appetizers our meal was about $ 11 each. Awesome. We have found our new home. Sometimes you don’t want fancy. Sometimes all you need is some great comfort food. This is it.

I went there with my Mom the other day for lunch. I had heard it was good down home cooking, «like Grandma use to cook». So I just had to try it. I did, it was and I’m glad I went. I’m a sucker for fried chicken on the bone so that is what I ordered, a thigh and a wing, Cole Slaw and their Kale greens and Sweet Tea. They brought out these small sweet corn bread muffins that melted in your mouth and were so good I thought I was eating dessert first. I felt like I went back in time and was 12 years old again sitting at my grandma’s kitchen table at Sunday dinner. I was so impressed with how everything tasted. Chicken was juicy and the outside was crispy. The Slaw was just the right amount of sauce, not too much mayo, the greens were perfectly seasoned, and the price was perfect too, my whole meal was less then $ 9.00 I look forward to eating there again.

Omg!!! This was my first time to Goose Creek Diner and it was Ahhhhmazing. We had the sampler appetizer of fried green tomatoes, cheese sticks and fried pickles. Holy crap, literally THE best of all 3 I have had in my 36 years of life. For dinner I had combo of country fried steak and chicken fried chicken with sides of fried okra, fried green tomatoes, and fries. This is also the best country fried steak I have ever had. The chicken fried chicken was probably the second best I have ever had. The fries were just ok but the okra was amazing! I also tasted my friends hot brown which was good. I wish we had this little gem of a restaurant in Florida.

Thanks, Unilocalers! This is a great local diner if you’re in the mood for a home-cooked, southern, greasy-spoon-type diner. We ordered combo plates, so we could try a variety of dishes and sides: chicken fried chicken, fried shrimp, chicken fried steak, fried green tomatoes, fries, green beans, steamed broccoli, mac & cheese, etc. Everything is delicious. The sauces for the fried green tomatoes and shrimp, and the white gravy for the chicken fried chicken and steak are AMAZING! I wanted dessert, but the chocolate pie was all gone by the end of our meal. Apparently you can make dessert requests when you get there. If you go for Sunday Buffet, our server recommends making a reservation. Arrive hungry and order your desserts early before they’re gone — ENJOY!!!

This a local favorite spot and a great place for country cooking in the city! Everything is southern style and they have an amazing breakfast buffet on the weekends! I suggest not planning to do much afterwards as you will fill up with the omelet station, breakfast and brunch options, and dessert bar! They even have drink specials some nights and offer takeout as well.

I love this restaurant. Down home cooking at its best. The fried green tomatos and creek sauce are great. I love the vegetables and the fish is always really good. I got a ton of food with my Friday special all you can eat fish and shrimp. We got carry out and there was probably 10 fantail shrimp plus three good size pieces of fish and the sides were descent size too. It also comes with cornbread muffins.

Diner had a Cozy atmosphere with local flair! Real diner feel and staff was very friendly. Homecooking menu with Great daily specials. Ordered the fried green tomato salad. Loved the fried green tomatoes with spicy cayenne ranch dressing. Wished the salad had a few more vegetables and less bacon. Perfectly prepared corn muffins. Also split the chocolate cake and coconut cream pie both were amazing.

I have to admit. I love Goose Creek Diner. We were looking for somewhere to eat on a Saturday night and everyone had at least a 45 minute wait. Someone suggested GCD and I was like, heck yes! So off we went and we were seated right away. Everyone loved their food, all 6 of us! I had the chicken fried chicken, collard greens, and fried okra. Hubby had the Hot Brown, friends had the fish and pork chops. Kids got the ribs and chicken fingers. Everyone was super happy with their meals. We also had the sampler appetizer with potato skins, onion rings, and fried green tomatoes. We polished that off in no time flat. fantastic, all of it. Oh and as a bonus, they had ½ price bottle of wine the night we went.(Maybe I should have said, Double Bonus ;)) Lastly, the wait staff was STELLAR!!! Drinks were always full and we always had what we needed!
