Damn, why are the quality places closing so fast? Great charcuterie and cheeses. They carried Salumi meats from Armandino Batali in Seattle. It was the only place where I knew I could go get them. Excellent meat and cheese takeway boxes that make for great snacks and impromptu picnics. Sigh. 4.5 stars

I am so bummed that this place is closed. You know how there’s three rooms connected — the one on the farthest right has the sandwiches? Well, it’s THAT room that is now closed. I wandered over to the counter on the left side — they are now serving sandwiches, but it is not the same as the old Los Gatos Gourmet. The guy patiently informed me that the sandwich counter was a sublet, and not it’s gone. Alas, my beloved Turkey and Brie Sandwich is lost to the ages. Please re-open somewhere else, for the love of god!

I have been here a few times and the reason I come here is for the brie and turkey sandwich. i’m a HUGE brie fan and i am pretty sure they use double cream which is nice. the turkey is smoked and it comes on a baguette. i usually have it with a salad and a cold pellegrino. it’s delicious :)

What a bummer. I liked this shop for their sandwiches. I came here today to only discover that it is no longer open for business. Was told that a pizzeria will take its place. Pizza and coffee? Erh…

************************** 566 **************************** Cute little wine bar located in down town Los Gatos busy Main strip with the tiny and limited of wines selection shop adjacent to the bar, offer artisan cheese and charcuterie. Limited of less than 10 cheeses, less than 7 choices of cured meat, smoked salmon and jam. Prices are good. Service is always super friendly here. Friday night tasting is good here, for only $ 20 you get to try small production wines. P. S. closed at 9PM, oops, ut than is it a typical place in Los Gatos?!!

There’s a reason Los Gatos Gourmet is a Unilocal Hot Pick… Quality ingredients!!! Simple yet excellent menu!!! Great service!!! Had the McKinneylicious(salami, smoked turkey, brie, greens, aioli) and enjoyed every bite. My friends had the tomato basil soup and the smoked salmon sandwich and were very happy. With gourmet in the name, this place has much to live up to… and it does!!! Can’t wait to go back!

It was after a hike @ St. Josephs on a warm Saturday morning that I stepped foot into Los Gatos Gourmet. Nothing like some charcuterie and wine tasting after a nice long hike now is there? I’ve been introduced to and enjoyed some of the best meats and cheeses here so much that I’ve come back again and again each time bringing a someone new so I can share the experience. I’ve tried their soups and sandwiches as well, always fresh and tasty. A fantastic locals spot, a great place to enjoy a glass of wine with out having to be in a ‘restaurant’ environment… a great place to enjoy an intimate conversation or people watch!

TOMATOBISQUESOUP! Amazing. I don’t know where they get this soup but it is absolutely delicious. The Grilled Cheese is outrageous. Fluffy and crisp bread enclose like 5 different gourmet cheeses. Blows my mind every time I go there. I stuns me that such a simple comfort food can be turned into a flavorful gourmet treat. Somewhat pricey and I have had some unpleasant experiences with staff. I wish they were open later. Always have cool confections sprinkled throughout the shop including bacon flavored chocolate? Free wifi a MAJOR plus!

Keeping rating at 3 stars. I want to give this place 4 stars, but I just can’t. The sandwiches are good, but I was a bit disappointed(see below). I came by this time with two other friends. I got the smoked turkey with brie. One friend got the turkey stack, and the other got the proscuitto(he pronounced it pro-skoo-itto). 1. I couldn’t see or taste the brie, so that was a huge disappointment. 2. The sandwich was smaller than the turkey stack, and I was still hungry after, despite eating an earlier lunch just a few hours before. It was $ 8 after tax. 3. The baguette bread was still really hard and tough to chew, albeit slightly better than last time when I got the turkey stack. 4. One of the baguette halves was from the bread end.

I dont drink wine so I am going ot have to stick to reviewing the food here. I come here mostly for the delicious sandwiches. All of the ones that I have tried so far have been great. My favorites are the proscuitto and brie, the black forest ham with fig jam, and most recently the hot turkey and brie. The ingredients are proportioned perfectly-the key to a perfect sandwich. If you buy the whole sandwich it comes with a salad or something on the side. My girlfriend loves the butternut squash soup(seasonal). She usually buys a large container of it and we share at home. John, the owner has a really cool selection of gourmet food on his shelves. There are salts from around the world, olive oil, pastas, honeys, and the best red licorice I have ever had. And I am not even a candy eater. On to the cheese. John constantly has the best cheeses for sale. One of the best ways to experience Los Gatos Gourmet is to have them make you a meat and cheese plate. It comes with a variety of thinly sliced imported meats, several kinds of hard and soft cheese, grapes, and sliced baguet. This is perfect to share with 2 or 3 people. If you are a fan of meat and cheese, or just plain hungry, you should check out Los Gatos Gourmet.

Salami. That is all I really should have to write. I can’t say much about the wine, its the salami that keeps me coming back and probably the only thing that I can review. I have tried all of the salami here but one stands out. To be specific, the hot sporesetta. They have two types of hot sopresetta. They get one form Mario Battali father’s shop in Seattle and the other is from someplace in New Jersey. I prefer the one from New Jersey. This is my favorite salami of all time and because of this place, I have a hard time buying the regular Gallo salame you can buy at Costco or any supermarket which used to do just fine but is so bleh now. The lady(tall short haired-brunette and someone I refer to as my other girlfriend) who I believe owns this place really knows her salami(and cheese) and you can tell when you talk to her. I trust her so opinion so much that when I looked at the sandwich menu and I saw a PB&J sandwich, I thought to myself, «I might actually pay to eat a PB&J sandwich from this place.» I hate Stilton cheese. I think it smells like ass. But they carry a seasonal Stilton cheese that I was skeptical of trying but when that little sample piece fell into my mouth, it was like an angelic choir started singing. It is the only Stilton cheese variety I like. I still hate all other kinds of Stilton cheese. I can’t make any claims to the wine but the cheese and salami boards are top notch. I have had a salami sandwich here once and it did not disappoint at all. It is pricey in comparison to some other places I like but the quality is there!

The Salami and Mozzarella sandwich( ) is my new crush. It is TASTY and huge, with savory layers of salami on a chewy, buttered(?) baguette below fresh greens, juicy tomatoes, and soft, creamy mozzarella. Legendary. These sandwiches are actually not on the menu, but you can request them now that you’ve read this review. I bought Yann Y. a Turkey and Brie( ), which he liked, although not as much as the pulled pork(JJ special) at the nearby Los Gatos Meats and Smokehouse. The cupcake pictured is from Icing on the Cake, also on Main St. Service was superb the two times I came. I intended, the second time, to order a Gourmet Cheese Melt since I was eating there(interestingly, this deli is connected to an espresso bar and a café with seating areas) but I wanted the Salami and Mozzarella too badly.

I’ve gotta admit, I’m a little disappointed. I’d heard rave reviews and ended up with a prosciutto sandwich that while tasty, wasn’t outstanding or anything to write home about. The bread was WAY too hard… we’re talkin’ dutch crunch style(not the type of bread it was on) hurt the roof of your mouth every time you take a bite. The quality of the prosciutto though, was legit and definitely made up for the near-to-stale bread. I’d probably go back to get meats/cheeses — just not necessarily a sandwich. Or perhaps try the salami sandwich. At least the guy behind the counter was nice.

My next stop on the sandwich tour was courtesy of Los Gatos gourmand, Beth W. She always seems to know the good places there! Featuring cheeses, wines, and beer, Los Gatos Gourmet isn’t a place I’d expect to serve sandwiches. But they do and I’m happy to say they’re quite good. I ordered a McKinney-licious which is essentially their most popular sandwich(smoked turkey and brie) with the addition of their popular salami. I took a seat at the coffee shop that adjoins and they brought my sandwich out in minutes. It was served on a narrow baguette and accompanied by a nice handful of grapes. The key to the sandwiches here is quality. One bite and I knew all the ingredients tasted top notch: salami, smoked turkey, brie mixed wonderfully with the greens and aoli sauce. I’m a salami and turkey neophyte but I suspect the salami and«willie bird slow smoked turkey» are high end stuff. This isn’t the typical sandwich with excess condiment city either: no mustard, mayo, pickles, or onions here. Simple and high quality. I like it. The only downside is that it wasn’t a hot sandwich. Can you imagine the melted brie if it was? Mmmmm… But it definitely wasn’t as refrigerator cold as many of the others I’ve had. More room temperature. It all works and I found half to be quite filling though a bit smaller than the aforementioned sandwich shops. Prices, given the fancy-smancy downtown Los Gatos were reasonable. Most were $ 7.95. Considering Neto sausage was over $ 10 out of the way San Jose, I was happy. Los Gatos Gourmet happily accepts Amex and I’ll have to be back to try the Prosciotto di parma sandwich.

I’m long overdue for an update to my favourite sandwich place in Los Gatos. First off, a big thanks to the manager for actually reading my review and complimenting on it. That was a really nice gesture and it makes this whole Unilocaly thing seem worthwhile after all. Second, lets move on to the LG Gourmet Cheese Melt… I get it now, I get it now. Imagine you’re standing outside a cheese factory in Wisconsin… Theres an almighty explosion and hot cheese is flying towards you at 100mph… The only way to defend yourself from this approaching cheesy debris is by using two big fat warm toasted bread slices as cover… Thats right. Its cheese overkill. Multiplied by a million — Gorgeous. Thirdly, I cant forget to mention the delicious Prosciutto De Parma with that awesome aioli smothered ciabatta and the totally over the top McKinney-licious stomach burster. The hot brie, salami and turkey combo rocks! Finally, a big thanks to all the staff who make coming here such a pleasurable experience. Especially the one who gives out the free grapes. Lush!

When you tune into Celebrity Rehab next season you can expect the following: Dr. Drew to be looking as sexy as ever — and he is smart, stop the madness His staff to be understanding as always — even the Scarecrow Amy Winehouse — for obvious reasons Another Baldwin brother — for obvious reasons Lindsay Lohan — cause she will realize she doesn’t like girls and will go on a bender Me — cause I will need a 12 step program for my addiction to those damn sandwiches from Los Gatos Gourmet and expect to go into withdrawls should I stop eating them Ok, so Im not going to be on Celebrity Rehab — Im sure you can expect everthing else to come to fruition tho next season… In the meantime I will watch the show while chowing down on an insanely smoky Black Forest Ham and chevre sandwich or perhaps that fresh sliced roasted turkey with heirloom tomatoes — I don’t know how they get that turkey so moist or the ham so other worldy smoky — but it is fantastic. In my next life I am going to marry Dr Drew and open a sandwich shop… I swear

I was just reading some of the other reviews… and it seems like most of us feel the same. You forget that you are spending 9 bucks on a sandwich and you just enjoy. I was introduced to the Salami with Mozzarella by a few of the employees and I serious can’t stop thinking about it. I am a big sandwich guy and I can enjoy sandwiches a lot of different deli’s, but LGG is a different type of deli. It doesn’t have a deli feel, but more a feel of a wine shop that serves amazing sandwiches. I haven’t stopped by on Friday night, or tried their cheese, but I think that’s my best choice when I step by. Things are a bit on the uppity side their, but it doesn’t bother me as long as I can get something to eat.

What is with the crappy customer service? Just wanted 2 sandwiches, thats all… and it is not my fault that you are out of brie. By the way, how the hell could you be out of brie… for God’s sake! I don’t like to be ignored nor do I like to receive attitude from the baseball cap wearing teenage mumbling genius when there is no brie… Then, using superior customer service skills, looking like he could care less. The right thing would have been to say, «Sorry we just ran out of brie, would you like smoked gouda?» Duh? How hard was that? I might try them again and hope that was a fluke.

Want a cheese plate for one or two people? This is seriously the place to come! I have had a love affair with cheese for I don’t know how long, and have had countless cheese platters from different shops and let me tell you, for the cost to amount of cheese ratio, this place takes the cake. A platter of 3 cheeses for one person was enough to be an actual light lunch! And for $ 10 bucks, holy cow! I was at Wine Affairs and was served three small pieces of cheese for $ 11 that left me wondering if they forgot the rest of it in the back. Ok ok… enough about the cheese. They also have some really great sandwiches. Turkey and brie… mmm… peanut butter… hecks yes… and so many more that are tasty that I won’y bore you with listing them all off. I am definitely going to be a regular customer here from now on. For me, this place screams picnic lunch. A fancy picnic lunch of course hehe.

They carry Prima Donna and Truffle Chevre here! For all you people who think you know cheese, you don’t know anything until you come here! I was first introduced to Prima Donna, a nutty and caramelly Gouda with salt crystals, in Colorado while visiting my sister. It was love at first taste. I knew I had to have it! I have been looking everywhere for it in California and haven’t been able to find it. Till now! Los Gatos Gourmet baby! The Truffle Chevre is amazing! A wonderfully smooth goat cheese with truffles! What’s not to love?! It is a bit pricey but worth every penny. I also managed to get a stinky and perfectly ripe Camembert! It’s so good and smells nasty! Los Gatos Gourmet has some great cheeses, meats(they have lamb prosciutto!), wine, candies(Flake bars!), pastas, sandwiches and more! A must visit when in Downtown LG!
