Great little place in downtown corridor. Great patio seating and attentive service. Staff was knowledgable and friendly, no wine snob attitude. Our group ordered a cheese plate and bruschetta. Food was great and nice compliment to our evening. This is a great place to start your evening or dining and bar hopping on Santa Cruze Ave.

Horrible service. Bad food. My gf and I came in for oyster and win. Every single oyster was not cleaned properly. Never coming back.

I absolutely adore the outdoor patio seating and the champagne flights here! It is definitely a great place to grab a drink with the girls or head to for date night. Their happy hour is decently priced and the staff always takes care of you. I come here every so often and each time I enjoy myself. 3.5 stars!

Don’t bother with this place. It was extremely loud so it was really hard to talk and they messed up almost every part of our order. My IPA beer was served warm even though it was supposed to be on tap. The $ 16 salad was terrible and the first version was completely drowning in dressing, even when we asked for dressing on the side. Our server questioned whether we actually needed a new one, even though the order was wrong and the second one was mostly arugula. When they brought a flatbread with prosciutto, after we had specifically asked for a vegetarian version, we were asked if it was a food allergy or if they could just take off the meat and bring it back to us. Really? They took off the lowest cost item but still messed up the bill so we had to ask for an adjustment to that too. I am definitely not going here again!

This place was amazing thanks to our server obe. He was very knowledgable on all the wines, plus it was actually busy and he was very good about still being a good server. Obes customer service went above and beyond when my buddy had an issue with something a few month ago that had a to do with his membership. Obe made sure he fixed the issue, which was not easy to do. Overall awesome place, great wines and the customer service was above and beyond! Thanks obe!

The staff always makes me feel welcome, are knowledgeable about wines. I think one of the guys is named Obie. Always patient as my friends and I decide what we want. I will certainly be back!

Rootstock has management that CARES, and that reflects well on the team and the spot. Definitely recommend Rootstock to wine lovers as well as anyone looking to grab some light nibbles. A few months ago when I visited Rootstock, my friend and I had a lukewarm experience with the service. But management really took to heart the voice of the customers and voila, the next time I came in I was overwhelmed with great and efficient service! My homegirl is Brie since she took care of me a couple times since I’ve been in… and my friends who have gone in as well all loved her! I remember that another server/manager greeted our table too, and that was such a warm tidbit of our wine-and-girls-catchup. I’ve never been disappointed with their selection or their flights, and that’s amazing considering how wine-centric LG is becoming with the new Left Bend winery across the street. If you’re not looking to get beer or wine, they also have light bites from cheese plates to sandwiches! I’ve never chosen to eat at Rootstock for a full meal, but personally that’s my choice. I LOVE this place for catching up with friends, grabbing a glass or two, and winding down after a long shift or stressful week. Props to management, great service, and a 5-star-establishment. Rooting for y’all!

Great selection of wine with friendly staff ;)) I dig the happy hour and the deviled eggs! The fire pit in the front is nice on cold days. Would recommend this place ;)

Great service, good wine/beer, and yummy olives. I see this place as a «walk by stop in» not a «destination». Sitting outside by the fire is a nice tip!

I normally don’t pay too much mind to wine bars, but I heard this place was expanding INTO Cupertino, so I figured they must be doing pretty well for themselves. We made reservations for a table of 7(you know, like decent people should on a Saturday night), and even though there was someone sitting at the larger table, I was pretty surprised to see the manager(gently) boot them out of the table so that we could sit. Not only that, but they had a plaque set up at the table that read«Mr. Pham!» Boy, did I feel fancy. The vibe here is pretty casual — it’s one of the more well-lit wine bars I’ve been to, making it a bit less stuffy than those underground ones in San Francisco. Their wine list is pretty extensive, but thankfully have flight options if you’re a not-so-wine snob like myself.(I picked up the Red flight, the first two which I enjoyed, the last… eh, not so much). The servers were pretty knowledgeable about the wines, and warm enough that I didn’t feel like a complete boor asking for recommendations. That being said, they do offer a rotating beer tap, which my friend(who is a self-proclaimed boor) took advantage of and enjoyed as well. Overall, Root Stalk is a great place if you’re looking to sate that fancy-wine-and-cheese craving, but don’t want to be overwhelmed with the stuffiness/pretentiousness of traditional wine bars. It’s a nice addition to Los Gatos and will probably be embraced with open arms in Cupertino. — sweet: reasonable price point, good selections of wines, casual vibe(for a wine bar) bitter: flatbreads nothing spectacular

The hubs and I were looking for a place to partake in a friday evening Happy Hour when my hubby spied the sign outside advertising $ 1 oysters. I thought we might have trouble getting a seat during happy hour, but despite being pretty busy there were plenty of seats open. They do have a nice little patio, but there aren’t many seats there so if you are hoping to sit outside get there early. They had a nice offering for happy hour including the sample platter which was perfect for 2. It had 2 servings of 3 of their appetizers as well as some olives and sopressata. They had a great selection of wines and beers including Pliny the elder which my husband couldn’t resist trying. Though be forewarned, that’s a $ 20 beer! My husband nearly fell out of his chair when we got the bill and he saw the price(having never tried it before).

My husband, our pit bull, and I all enjoyed our visit to Rootstock! The patio was a lot smaller than expected and we had a short wait for a spot. The furniture outside wasn’t super comfortable, only one love seat had a back and the other spots were little ottomans/stools. It was a very cozy environment and I bet on a less busy evening it would be really nice to sit out next to the fire pit. The wine menu is extensive! I got the sparkling flight and my husb. got a cider. The two he was interested in were not in stock, but our server adjusted the bottle price on the one available cider, which was very kind. Overall, all the servers we spoke to were very accommodating. It was super busy at 4:30 on a Saturday. It was a really great first experience!

Great place, very comfortable style. Classy but not stuffy in the slightest. They don’t have a large beer list, but what they have is quality stuff. I tried the Primo Diablo Habanero DIPA, Bovine Intervention Milk Stout, Dogfish Head Piercing Pilsner, and the Almanac Blueberry Sour. All excellent, and all things that are not easy to find on draft. The service was great. Tyler and Joey were the ones that helped us the most, but every one of the staff members we interacted with was super friendly.

What is going on at this place. The service is dismal! 3 waiters came over to our table last night. We asked for water from all of them and didn’t get any until MUCH later. Then we finally ordered wine and spiced nuts. We got the wine and it was good, but had to wait for the spiced nuts a very long time. I’m happy we didn’t eat here this time around. Nash next door has fantastic food!

2015 Unilocal100CHALLENGE — 081⁄100 Came to Rootstock on a whim with some friends a few days ago. I am not a bar frequenter by any means, so my opinion may be different than most. We came here with 3 friends for a quick bite before an appointment we had nearby. We came on a Saturday afternoon and the place was almost completely deserted. We ended getting 2 flatbread pizzas + a salad to share between the four of us. Two of my friends also got glasses of wine. Here are my thoughts: ROOTSTOCKPIZZA($ 14) — mushroom, tomato, artichoke hearts, garlic, basil, mozzarrella, balsamic reduction: This pizza was pretty good! Definitely on the savory/heavier side. The balsamic reduction also added a nice touch. MONTESERENO($ 15) — mozzarrella, goat cheese, prosciutto, pears, caramelized onions, greens, balsamic reduction: LOVEDTHISPIZZA. If I ever go back, I would totally get this again. Couldn’t get enough! It was sweet and savory and I absolutely loved it! Highly recommend. BURRATASALAD($ 15) — strawberries, pears, wild arugula, spiced nuts: My first time trying burrata salad. I really liked the burrata cheese! Very unique and nice and light and fluffy. I’m not a fan of arugula so I didn’t like that… but the strawberries and pears were really delicious as well. This place was perfect for afternoon bites. Definitely wasn’t enough if I was really hungry, but the food held me over during our afternoon appointment. Service was pretty good. Our waiter was very attentive, had good recommendations and was helpful! No complaints there. Overall, I’d recommend checking this place out if you are in the area.

Obadiah was the young man who opened his door as my friend and I walked by Rootstock. I mentioned to my friend we should go there sometime. He said, «I see you. Come in. We have happy hour right now.» We were impressed with his knowledge of the wine. We loved the choices he gave us. We had deviled eggs that had a surprising kick. He was so kind and gave us an appetizer that was on the house, since it was my friend’s first experience. He wants to be the general manager and I think he should be. I was very impressed!

Rootstock is a home away from home. Great wine paired with homemade breads, cheeses and salami. Make sure you ask for KERI or OBI! They know their wines and are very attentive and helpful.

Rootstock is where it is at if you’re looking for great service, a lovely atmosphere and an enormous selection of wines and beers. Don’t hesitate to order food, it is all delicious! Make sure to ask for OB, Joey or Tony! They’re the best! They also have the most helpful wine selection menu.

While the food and wine options here are great, the staff is way too into themselves and their personal conversations with each other to actually be attentive to the customers they are serving. It’s always awkward and unfortunate to have to interrupt your server’s conversation to ask for basic necessities(like a fork) to actually eat your meal. Our server gave off a vibe of «yeah, I know I’m hot and you’re lucky to be served by me so I just don’t have to work that hard». When you’re spending $ 150+ on a meal for two, that is just not the type of crap I personally like to put up with.
