Pulled pork was pretty good, but I didn’t get too excited about the rest of the menu

Tried these guys at the Heal the Bay sandcastle building competition in Santa Monica last week. Food was delicious and the truck driver was awesome. I left my wallet on the bumper, the driver found it and mailed it to me and included a tee shirt and a hilarious hand written note. These guys are the best!

Didn’t enjoy the chicken tikka masala. It just didn’t taste like chicken tikka. Someone else said they really liked it so maybe it was just me.

The food was pretty good. But, wayyyy too much rice and I do not like that they mandate your email address in order to get a receipt.

You don’t realize the corporate food giant ConAgra is behind this«little» food truck until you do a little bit of research on the internet and find out you’ve been duped! Stay away! It’s corporate food giant ConAgra trying to take a bit into the food truck market!

Great eclectic menu and favors! There’s something for every taste. Not your everyday sandwiches and pizza.

The flavors were excellent, the staff cool and the truck looked awesome! I walked up and ordered the pork– extremely tasty, filling and it tasted like something from the streets of Southeast Asia. I would definitely return to the truck and can’t wait to try something else.

I’m not one to write big long reviews, BUT I am one to compliment a job well done. WICKEDKITCHEN did it Right! It’s a new truck so they chose not to overload their menu, rather, pick a few items and knock them out of the ballpark. Great chicken tempura Great pulled pork Great spring roll Great slaw The only reason they got 4 stars and not 5, is because they only have rice and noodles, which are delicious, but I am a salad guy. The guys on the truck are rad, it is normal food truck price, they have tons of Sriracha, and coolest of all, they have a big flat screen TV playing killer vids. While you wait for your food, or just feel like eating and watching, the vibe is right. Thanks for the great experience WICKEDKITCHEN, you rock!

@WickedKitchn We had to think about this one. We both tried different things and they were both good. But after weighing the pluses and minuses we were torn between 3 or 4 stars. Finally we had to look at it comparatively, and 3 stars is where we went. As I said, the food was good. I tried the Thai chicken tempura and my fellow stalker tried the Vietnamese noodles. The chicken had a good flavor and was overall very flavorful. The Vietnamese also had nice flavor and very good texture. So what are the minuses? Well, as some others have pointed out, they are pricey and small. These bowls would rate another star if they were 5 or 6 dollars. But at 8 dollars, not so much. When I got mine, I added a bottled water. The total went over the 10.00 price point that it should have been under. Additionally, In a dish where the primary ingredient is carbs,(rice or noodles), it becomes very pricey. Suggestion guys, make your portions larger with more toppings and less rice or noodles or lower your prices. Personally I think the larger portions would be a better choice. Either of those 2 ideas would get you an extra star from the stalkers. Your food is good.

I gave this place the benefit of the doubt. I didn’t know much about the truck, and reviews were mixed so I thought I’d give it a shot. The menu was small, but that’s expected for a new food truck. They only had 4 items. Tempura, Jambalaya, Vietnamese Pork Noodles, and Mapo Tofu. All items are in the form of bowls. First thing to note are the portions. The bowl sizes are quite small, but since most of the bowl is filled with either rice or noodles, it fills you up quite quickly. One coworker got the jambalaya and said it was average. It didn’t taste like anything special. Another coworker ordered the mapo tofu and was quite displeased about it. They both didn’t go on about why it was so bad. I ordered the Vietnamese noodles. At first I couldn’t believe how small the bowl was. The first bite was some sort of asian coleslaw, which was not bad. Carrots, cabbage, and bean sprouts with some sort of(sesame?) dressing. The pork was too salty and I didn’t taste much outside of soy sauce. Digging into the noodles, we get a complete lack of flavor and texture. Noodles were soggy and were only flavored with a bit of soy sauce. You can imagine the level of complexity that went into making this bowl. All of this was $ 8 + tax. Next time you see this place, don’t be enticed to order because they’re showing the top 10 youtube videos of the day on large 37″ tvs. Skip to the next and find something much better.

I’m eating the chicken tempura as we speak, it has a good flavor. I agree with one of the reviewers that you only get a few pieces of chicken, a total of 4 pieces in my order. The bowl is about 90% rice, which lets be honest costs about 25 cents, 5% slaw mix and 5% chicken. I wasn’t really impressed and probably won’t be back unless of course I am dying to pay $ 8 for a bowl of rice.

Even for just $ 7 it wasn’t worth it. I tried the Wicked Kitchen Don’t Lose Your Tempura bowl. The portions are small, and while the few pieces of chicken I had were good, the bowl was almost entirely rice. There was good flavor in the four small pieces of tempura and small spoonful of their promised Thai slaw. Not very spicy but I ultimately felt ripped off as it is this was two cups of rice with a chicken accent. With so many other food trucks to choose from on the row, I felt like I made the wrong choice. If the portion had been bigger and there was a better balance to the chicken, slaw and rice ratio, I’d have put this higher. I’m sure the truck is profitable, but its at the customer’s expense. Pass on this truck.

I went out and checked out Wicked Kitchen yesterday in downtown LA because a friend of mine had told me about their Jumbalaya, and she knows how much I love Jumbalaya. When I need a fix, I usually head over to Cheesecake factory and eat theirs because I live so close to one but my friend said I had to check out the goods they were serving over at Wicked Kitchen. Well safe to say, its probably the best Jumbalaya I have had in a long time… Definitely worth the trip out to Downtown just to eat it, seeing as I live on the west side of LA. It’s funny to think that the food from a mobile food truck could be better than a nice restaurant. I was thoroughly impressed. So much so that I haven’t Unilocal about a place in a little while but it was time for me to return the favor of the flavor I had just induced and spit up a delicious review for these guys. Great job Wicked Kitchen… You will be seeing me quite often!
