«New York style» pizza place. I just came back from Manhattan where I had DELICIOUS pizza for $ 1 a slice. The pie at Tomato Pie Pizza Joint is $ 3 a slice and not nearly as good. The crust here is tasty. The sauce is pretty alright. But, the cheese is nonexistent. A medium cheese-only pie(6 smallish slices — very little cheese) ran me just under $ 15 and my daughter and I left the place hungry. People here were nice enough. Truth be told I won’t be coming back though.

GREAT pizza. best so far I’ve had in LA. it’s not Lombardi’s in new york or Grimaldi’s. Those are 5 star places. But this is very good. their NY style is as close as you’ll get on the West Coast. chill place. Came here for my birthday. Good prices, nice places to sit. I always leave happy. It’s slowly whittling away at my depression.

True NY style pizza in Cali. The cheese pizza and the tomato pie are show stoppers. The staff is always attentive and friendly. They offer a lot of cool sodas and seasonal sides. The knots are quality too. As a New Yorker who knows what pizza is supposed to be, I can highly recommend this place. Word of warning– we ordered delivery one night(live about a mile away) and the pizza showed up about an hour and a half later and cold. I think the driver took a detour through Santa Monica on his way here. Carry Out if possible!

This location is easy to access around 3 – 4 pm. After that, get ready for parking issues. As far as the food, they have a large selection of slices available in a heated glass counter case. The price per slice is $ 3 each. I prefer to try a pie made to order. They charge close to 17.00 for a single topping NY style pizza. That seems a bit pricey for what you get. They have a cooler with drinks that include small brand sodas in bottles, Coke brand drinks, various waters, slices of cake, cheese cake and other desserts. The staff is friendly and vast. The pizza? Excellent!

I normally prefer deep dish pizza but we decided to give this place a try and I wasn’t disappointed. Surprisingly, I find a lot of pizza is lacking in flavor, but not here… I tried 3 different variations and they all had flavor in abundance! Negative: The restaurant is a bit small and the 4 or 5 tables they have can fill up fast. Also, the hipsters that man the cash register are a bit snooty, even bordering on pretentious… you just have to laugh at shit like that though, I was born and raised in this city and I’ll be dammed if some Ohio transplant is going to make me feel uncomfortable in my hometown.

In the mood for pizza… It was good! Sat at the counter in the back and watched mine being made. It’s a bit small inside but it’s a local place so it felt cozy and not tight. Great garlic cheese rolls and a new age fountain machine that offered everything but alcohol!

I’m not sure if Tomato Pie has declined in quality or if their competition has simply improved. Either way, I haven’t ordered from them regularly since Postmates began delivering Mother Dough and Mozza. On a spontaneous visit this afternoon, I decided to give the Silver Lake location another try. I tasted their eponymous Tomato Pie and the chicken-based Syracuse. Both slices lacked seasoning and were sadly bland without garlic, Parmesan and Sri Racha. The crust was also disappointing on both, with a pasty, chewy base on the Syracuse and scorch marks on the latter. There’s no reason they should be dishing out burned pies by the slice. I wanted to return it, but figured nobody behind the counter would care. Slacking… past its prime.

Tomato Pie has the best gluten free pizza in the area! Yes, it’s expensive($ 18 for a six-slice gluten free pizza, one size only) but man oh man is it good. Their«grandma» pizza takes cheese pizza up a notch with a bit of garlic, and the blanco chicken pizza was better than any other white pizza I’ve ever had. But the best part is the crust! It’s not the super thin cracker-like crust that’s typical of gluten free pizzas. Their crust is thin and crisp without being crunchy and dry. I’ve tried a lot of gluten free pizza all across the country, and this one is by far my favorite for thin crust! My only complaint is it’s a little hard to find the location if you’re doing pickup: drive around the corner off Hyperion. If you’re doing delivery, prepare to wait for an hour and a half, even if they tell you 45 minutes. However, if you’re celiac or other-wise gluten free, I can’t recommend this place enough!

I went on… Weekdays ///3pm Saturday ///noon Keep in mind, I went to the H. S just a few blocks down. I’ve had my fair share of visits(more than I wish to admit). The Goods: ~ N. Y Style Pizza: *(FAV) Grandma’s Margherita Pizza is my go-to. Trust. You can never go wrong. * Mr. White: Not the most flavorful of the bunch, but it’s still worth the try. * Deluxe Pizza: It hits the spot. * Price is about $ 3 – 4 for a slice. ~ Other: * Drinks: They have a vast selection that includes regular fountain soda to bottled tea and boxed water(Yea, that’s a thing) * Hot Wings: Mama loves some wings, and these don’t disappoint. They run about $ 7 – 13(depending on quantity) The Habitat: * Silverlake: You know this joint is gonna be hipster. * Trendy & well-kept. * The employees have always been friendly. Expect top notch customer service. * Parking is limited. They do have a small parking lot, so I suggest finding something on the street. It only takes a couple times around the block, if that. * Seating includes several booths inside and several tables outside. * As mentioned before, there IS a H. S just a few walking blocks away. School ends around 3ish. You should know… they come in droves. Overall, this place is superb. I’ve never said no to Tomato Pie Pizza Joint and neither should you.

My short review is: the pizza and staff here is amazing. Grandma Margherita all the way! I’ve only ordered delivery from Tomato Pie. It’s been the house pizza place between my roomies. Though the margherita is my jam, the Hawaiian and BBQ Chicken ain’t too bad either. Crust is thin, crunchy, oven cooked to perfection. Reminds me of NYC’s own Lombardi’s pizza at times(well, at least the margherita). Could sometimes use just a hint more tomato sauce. The fellas who take your order and delivery have been really ace, and the experience and bond we’ve forged over the phone is something special. Delivery is always less than 45 minutes. These same attributes cannot be said about another pizza place which is actually comparatively closer to where we live(I’m looking at you Garage).

Good pizza. I’m pretty picky as pizza goes as a former east-coaster, and this is up to snuff. Good choices and ready to go by the slice, heated up in the pizza oven. Nice crunchy/chewy crust. I’ll def go back whenever I’m in the hood.

Been here a couple of times or got delivery. Very small parking lot, maybe fits like 7 cars. Street parking is not ample but not too hard to find. LOVED the hot wings here. We also got a large NY style pepperoni pizza and a mixed green salad. The pizza here is good because they do a cheese blend of prob 3 cheeses. The salad was good/typical. The inside has a couple of booths but the place itself is rather small. Still, a fun place to eat and they have dessert and many drinks and pastas and sandwiches so a great full menu. Can’t wait to have their chicken wings again! Damn!

Tomato Pie… oh Tomato pie! There should be a song about you. Okay, maybe a story. Once upon a time I ordered an extra large Tomato Pie Pizza. Something about a Granny and white sauce something something. My memory is quite foggy. PIzza was A-okay! But so damn big for 2 people. With a few slices out, I handed the rest to my neighbor 2 finish. I was getting ready for my road trip and there was no way that giant box was going in the car with us!!! The End! (2nd experience) After roaming through the Unilocal link for Tomato Pie and drooling over all the options. I picked up the phone and finally called. Hello: Hi Id like to order 1 spaghetti(no meat), one medium Bbq chicken pizza(no chicken), and one caesar salad please. Yes yes for pick up.“ After(40 minutes) with my fav Tv show on we devoured the food. He didn’t like so much. I seemed to be possessed by the spaghetti. I mean It was a whole week of no carbs and there was no way anyone was gonna stop me from downing this saucy, noodlely, goodness.(I tend to make up food words). The garlic knots come with the spaghetti. They were yummerz. I will be coming back for a girls date. Just for the salad and spaghetti. Pizza is yum, but not to die for. Check them out! Friendly service! Private Lot Parking! They have caller ID… they got your number… so don’t try anything funny.

Cute, yummy pizza place that’s kinda hidden in a tiny plaza. Love the modern/retro décor. They have several tables. Great place for lunch. They sell salads, pastas, appetizers, and slices of pizza or whole pies. [Pizza] –Miss Green(pesto sauce, spinach, broccolini, artichoke, zucchini, nutmeg, mozzarella, parmesan & ricotta cheeses): Very tasty! Great for veggie lovers. –Mr. White(olive oil, garlic, oregano, mozzarella, ricotta & romano cheeses w/NO sauce): Very delicious and cheesy! Great option for people who like cheese pizza and don’t like the marinara/tomato sauce. –BBQ Chicken & Onion(grilled chicken, red onion, smoky BBQ sauce & cilantro): Very flavorful! They did a great job seasoning the chicken and the BBQ sauce. –Syracuse-style Hot Wing(Grilled chicken in spicy hot sauce with mozzarella cheese): Tasty with a nice spicy kick! Parking: They have several free parking spaces in the lot or you can find residential parking on the street. Great place to grab a slice of yummy pizza or order some to-go.

Small & cute restaurant. Not all types of pizza comes as individual slices but there is a good selection. The only issues that I had was that they did not put utensils or napkins in my to go bag, after a hard days at work I just want to go eat at the park but went home for a fork for my salad. Dessert looks good but I did not participate in it. Parking: available but limited Pizza: by slice or by in its entirety. Staff: very nice

Food quality: Great thin crust«authentic» Naples style pizza from the brick oven! Not quite as good as those pies you’re going to pay almost twice as much for at some places(no names shall be named). This is thin crust pizza and there’s just something about the quality, simple ingredients that makes the dough amazing. Don’t reheat in microwave, instead use the oven or toaster oven(even the rubbery texture once it’s been microwaved is amazing though!). Price: not cheap but not expensive. say $ 12 – 25 per person. I think we fed our two kids and my wife and I for about $ 35 since we just got a pizza, salad and one soda. Our kids are young, however. You might spend $ 50 with some sodas and two pizzas. Service: OK. Not bad, not amazing. They were busy but we got what we wanted.

Pizza is always delicious and budget friendly! I have a quick 45 min lunch during the week and this is always the go to spot for fast cheap and delicious lunch. Most slices are $ 3 or $ 3.50 and are large slices that are thin crust. Therefore leaving the guilt aside. The options available are always good: mr. White, Syracuse, carnitas way, BBQ chicken are among my fav. Check out tomato pie when in the area! They also have small side salads you can pick up as well.

Tomato Pie, a pizza joint in Hollywood and Silverlake derives its name from, well, tomato pie. Tomato pie is a Sicillian’s take on pizza where the dough is fococia like and thick. It is normally topped with tomato sauce and sprinkled with cheese. Never having tried tomoato pie, Tomato Pie was an obvious choice. The color scheme inside was refreshing and fun. Entering, it seemed more relaxed than I thought. You order the pizza or slices you want, they prepare it, and you pick it up. They come in the flappy paper plates you get at Costoco, but the choices of pizza they offer is amazing. And of course the taste is great as well. Honestly, I did not like the tomato pie, but I do like Tomatoe Pie. The tomato pie was the first thing I ate, as I was excited to try it. Topped with marinara sauce, herb, and pecorinno romano cheese, it felt a bit lacking in flavor. The marinara sauce was better than most, but the lack of meat and melted cheese was too missed. Sad to say, maybe the simplicity of it all didn’t do it for me. The Grandma had crushed marinated tomatoes, basil, garlic, and light mozzarella. Though simple like the tomato pie, I really liked this one. Their pizza, the triangle sliced kind, has a crust so crispy and cracker like. The robust flavors of the basil and garlic were perfect with the light mozzarella melted on top. The Prosciutto Happiness, probably my favorite of the three was an obivous one — Prosciutto is the magic word. Having alfredo instead of marinara, it was a bit rich in taste. The fig, prosciutto, arugula, topped with a balsamic reduction was all a great combination. Prosciutto and fig is always a nice combination of sweet and salty, and the balsamic reduction gave it that nice punch. The crispy crust and thin pizza made it easy to fold and eat. Eating tomato pie for the first time was exciting, but didn’t really enjoy it. They offer a variety of different kinds of pizza, but the Gramdma and the Prosciutto Happiness is a nice starting point. Not exactly made to order, but prepared to order, everything still comes out warm and toasty. With a refreshing Light Coke and endless pizza options, Tomato Pie delivers, figuratively and literally.
