Horrors. I love unusual culinary fusions — and sausages — and curry. Alas, the sauce on their«original wurst» is glorified barbecue sauce slop, no curry flavor to it at all. The wurst itself was anemic and sad. Genuinely disappointing.

I’m truly puzzled why I had to wait 20 minutes for a cold bratwurst in cold curry ketchup but rest assured it won’t happen again. They both had potential and I’m sure they would have been tasty if served hot and timely. However I don’t enjoy potentially great food — I enjoy delicious food served well — and this was most definitely neither.

You ever start purposely eating slower because you know you are gonna be sad when it’s gone ?? This is how I felt eating my bacon grilled cheese and garlic fries tonight! My husband felt the same of his German one. So good I have had a lot of grilled cheese and this is now my new favorite. Well done!

Stopped by this truck today off Ocean Park and 31st — really surprised there are so many meh reviews! Service was quick(although at that point we were the only ones waiting), and the two guys in the truck were really sweet to my little toddler, even offering to let him explore inside! I got the bratwurst and the kid plate(turkey brat with fries) — thought both were tasty and on delicious bread. As an aside — I think most trucks suffer when you get food from them at a festival. Just too many people; lines get long and it’s probably honestly hot and miserable for the dudes making the food. Haven’t had this experience with this truck but just putting it out there after reading other reviews — feel that it’s best to go during lunch or even better toward the end of lunch.

Had them at the German market in Old World today. Ordered a Philly grilled cheese, garlic fries and a regular grilled cheese but for a picky eater. Pro: fries were good but small Negatives: serve time. took 10 minutes longer to get the regular grilled cheese than the Philly and the fries came out first. Price is expensive for what you get. Menu is not a correct description of what you get. We had finished ours before our daughter got hers. Then when we ordered we made sure to tell them only American cheese and wheat bread, she’s picky. No worries she said. She took a bite and said it was spicy. We could see what looked like mustard under the cheese! I asked her she said the use a spicy cheese. What the heck! Your sign says American not nacho out of the can crap! Apparently they use both. Not happy! Also at $ 7.99 for a grilled cheese I expected a lot more. Overall: Not worth it, poor communication and honesty. I hate giving bad reviews but they earned it.

Currywurst plate: I thought it was just okay. I guess you could say it wasn’t the wurst~ I’m reviewing the Facebook menu, and apparently, you can pick the type of French fries and spiciness of the currywurst. I didn’t know this when I ordered so I don’t think my currywurst was spicy at all. When the plate came out, it smelled like curry, but here’s the disappointment. I didn’t really taste that much curry or there wasn’t much flavor in my plate?! I am a lover of sauces/condiments(no shame in my game) so seeing a big glob of ketchup and mayo on my fries was quite an eye pleaser. The little sausages were sauced up in what tasted like BBQ sauce. I’m not really sure what the sauce was supposed to be, but I do wish it had a bigger kick to it. The french roll was ehh… I could live without it. I was super hungry and decided to go with the plate, but I wish I got the hot dogs instead… oh well maybe next time!

On July 14, 2015 the Currywurst Truck came to my job. I had never had the food and decided to give it a try. The person who served me was in my opinion rather rude when my food was ready. I was speaking with another customer who was also waiting for their order and was only about 15 feet or so away from the window. The person who had my food, shouted that the order was ready three times. Again I could be seen from the window, seen speaking with someone. This occurred back in July. I reported this the same day via email rather than posting something here. I and received an email from the owner, apologizing for the rudeness and stating he would reimburse me for the meal, something I did not expect or ask for: Two weeks pass, and I receive a second email asking for my address again so the check could be sent to me. It is now September 28th and I have not heard back from Chris, who stated he was the owner, nor did the check ever come in the mail. Again, I did not ask for it, it was offered and never received. The brat was ok.

OMG. I am addicted to currywurst. I grew up in Getmany and I can never get enough of this stuff. First of all this guy was very rude! Very unfriendly and I figured no problem as long as I get my Currywurst. He put my Currywurst on the counter and the bread on it was completely touching the counter and very unsanitary. I still figured I will only enjoy my Currywurst, but to my surprise this was the WORST one I have had in my life. Fully dry and burnt. I don’t think I could EVER experience such thing. I can eat anything and especially a Currywurst anyway it is cooked but what I the world was that? Ironically I had experience several times the same truck in San Diego. I think it is called Currywurst San Diego and has the same wrapping so must be the same company but it is definitely not the truck and it is who actually running it. The San Diego one was completely moist and just like back home. Very disappointing for a Currywurst addict!!! I’m going to post his pics too so you guys know who the truck operator is. Maybe other ones are better but skip this one.

Currywurst pulled their truck into a really good bar… Bootleggers Fullerton. They were charging ridiculous prices for half ass brats. The fries were $ 4.00 extra EACH combo on top of $ 8.00 for a brat… which were under cooked, and were pretty much bread & frozen toppings. I asked them why they were charging $ 4.00 extra for frozen fries, while charging $ 8.00 for a frozen brat = $ 12.00 for airline food. Nothing fresh, and they were even trying to up-sell the Brats & Basa’s as being«grilled», telling me everything else was«boiled»… but it all cost the same, and after waiting almost 15 minutes for«grilled» brats, they were still not inadequate. They assured me they would sell me two full orders of fries for $ 2.00 each, instead of $ 4.00 each, after I pointed out the discrepancy. My bill should have been $ 20.00 for 2 brat combos, with fries. I thought they understood me, and they were giving me a good deal for buying more food. Instead, they gave me(literally) 10 fries in ONE combo, and gave me no fries in the second combo. Essentially, they charged me for less fries, only gave me a third of the fries I would expect, instead of giving me two full orders of fries, which was the agreement. I feel especially foolish, because I tipped them heavy for the privilege., as I thought I was getting more food. I didn’t realize until I got home. When I called the listed LA Currywurst #, they admitted it was their truck, but told me to «go to the OC Facebook page to complain», which is a huge cop-out.(Who goes to Facebook anymore, and what validity does a review left there have?). So, you get the raspberry folks. If you are not confident enough about the product of your OC crew, then get a separate Unilocal page. I look forward to seeing upgraded service in the future.

if I could get my money back, I would. an uninspired, flavorless chicken brat smothered in too much grocery store barbecue sauce, sprinkled with curry, accompanied by a side of garlic fries, unceremoniously covered in huge globs of ketchup and mayo. I DON’T EVENLIKEMAYOLIKETHAT! I’m usually happy and satisfied after lunch. today I’m just pissed off. the beautiful magey is being used as a diversion. consider yourselves warned.

Spicy currywurst roll– the saurkraut and the sauce really gave the sausage its flavor. I don’t know if I would come here again as I’m not a huge sausage fan. Also, they sold out on the fries and the wait for ordering and receiving was too long.

I don’t understand the low ratings from my fellow Unilocalers, this little truck is fantastic! The food came out quick, it was delicious and the pricing wasn’t any higher than any other food truck on the street. Plus, the guys behind the register and grill were fun! We didn’t even have a wait before ordering the Currywurst and the Curry fries. The currywurst was really good. I loved the sauce and the juicy sausage was cooked perfectly! But oh man the curry fries… take me out back and let me have my moment alone with these delicious little finger licking morsels! We had our fingers in the paper bowl like we’d never eaten before! They were wonderful! You have to try them!

The Original Currywurst is on point. The bratwurst is cooked well and juicy. The curry ketchup is pretty close to what I remember having in Berlin, but let’s get on to the MAYO. AMAAAZING. DONOTFORGETTHEMAYO. ASKFORTHEMAYO on everything.(it aint just your normal american boring mayo) Germans know class and this mayo is amazing. The bread roll isn’t anything super special, just like a normal dinner roll. The Smoked Bacon Fries were good as well, BUT it’s the MAYO that really makes it special. The fries are a good portion for two people, while the currywurst original is definitely not that much but still I would get it just again for that curry ketchup. All in all, a solid 4 stars. not to mention the 20% off when you«follow» them on social media.

Great german food. Try their curry cheese fries. They’re huuuge! Also had the currywurst original. Delicious just like in Germany. Friendly and funny staff. They offered me ketchup and some other sauces/dips to try. I’ll definitely come back! Auf Weedersehen!

Should have read reviews before ordering at last nights North Hollywood Food Truck Collective. Order $ 24.00 — Smoked Bacon fries — Dont salt your fries if topping with salty bacon… Curry Cheese fries — Where’s the curry? :(Should be renamed cheese fries. Polski roll. — If it wasn’t for the juicy kilbasa I would have been completely disappointed. Overall — Auf jeden Fall nicht eure Mütter Hausmannskost. Won’t order off this truck again.

Stopped by this food truck at a Octoberfest and I wish I got my money back. I check in on Unilocal and asked about getting the 20% off with the check in, because they offer it. The man in the truck said, did u write a good review about us” Me: No, I haven’t tried your food yet. Man in the truck: We only give 20% discounts to people who wrote good reviews, but I can do it this time. This made me rethink my purchase right there. I bought one item, and they are a cash only truck, he accept my card and changed me $ 0.50 cents. Well there goes my 20% discount! I read reviews on here where your receipt gets you 20% off again next time. Well he didn’t even give me a receipt. The food: honestly I did not enjoy it. To much sauce and not enough flavor in the food itself. A pathetic attempt of fresh onions, and just all around not that great tasting. P. s. To the owners, you can’t buy Unilocal reviews that’s what makes Unilocal so great we are honest consumers, and when you have a great product we announce it to the world, and when you don’t we still announce it.

20% off with Unilocal check-in. Ooohh baby! Off to a great start. Out of bratwurst? Not good. With my head-down and bit of depression, I went with the Original Weiner for $ 7.99. Good bun, sauerkraut, grilled onions, sliverd raw onions, drizzled mustard, and the weiner — served lukewarm and a bit snappy. A-ok, but not a fan, and wouldn’t order it again.(3.5 stars) I’ve been to the real restaurant/café, and I liked it alot. Go bratwurst, or bust.

Ran into this truck in Santa Monica and wanted to try. The grilled cheeses/sausages run ~$ 8. I got the Philly grilled cheese and was a little disappointed that they used straight up Kraft American cheese. It was super greasy and oily, but I was expecting that. The sausage was so much better than the grilled cheese. It was juicy and the bun was nicely chewy. The fries were good but nothing special. If I ever run into this truck again, I really want to try the Nutella grilled cheese, drooool!

Meh on this truck. But then again I only got fries and glad I only got fries. Things can get pricey here. $ 8 for a currywurst — nothing else. Can get a combo and stuff for extra. However, it was garlic powder not really garlic for fries. I got the curry mayo — nothing extraordinary. A little meh. I ended up dipping my fries in ketchup. The chefs hands looked really dirty. Dirty fingernails. Gross. And he was tossing my fries with seasoning with his bare hands. Not sure if I’d be back. Maybe if serendipity hits and we are in the same area.

Having just come back from Germany, I wanted to try the Currywurst truck and compare it to my experience in Berlin. I know it’s not fair, as it’s saying compare Chinese food from Hong Kong to Chinatown in LA. I ordered the original currywurst and expected that the Currywurst to be smothered in the curry ketchup. It’s served in the traditional German way of being grilled and sliced up, with the curry sauce poured over it, and served with bread. That’s where the similarity ends. Both Germany and Currywurst used a sausage, here it’s veal I think, but Currywurst covered their sausage in a liquidly sauce with curry spices as the topping, not the thick, curry ketchup I had in Germany. When I was in Berlin, they grilled sausage so the skin had a nice crisp bite to it. I’m not sure what Currywurst does, but each bite was not crunchy. I mentioned it to the young lady, and she said they don’t fry the sausage. I could ask for it fried so it would be more crunchy next time. I need to take Stephen here, as he’s more knowledgeable about the authenticity of German food. I wonder why Currywurst is so different than the food in Berlin? Was it to Americanize the food so socal people will like it? Or perhaps a they found a different way of preparing it that I did not discover in Germany? Overall my first impression was just okay. Again I’ll need to go back and try again, perhaps the Munich sausage?
