Just had a #4 Half and Half Combo on pita for lunch today and I thought it was pretty great! It was, I believe, a schwarma and schnitzel mix. The schnitzel was MUCH more most than the one I have had at Schnitzley on Pico Blvd. It came with some white sauce and a spicy sauce, which are definitely a must. I also loved that you could get this on a pita instead of a baguette. It’s the perfect size for a meal, but it’s a little bit more expensive than I would expect. Even so, I will definitely come here again when I’m craving schnitzel.

Food wasn’t awful but they gave me a hard time when I presented a HOMERUN coupon. There was an owner or friend of the woman behind the counter sitting in a chair with his legs splayed out across the walkway — I literally had to step OVER his legs to get my soda. Just a little oblivious to common courtesy and politeness.

I walked in to this place not knowing what to expect, as I had visited my share of shwarma/falafel places over the years. My only word is: YUUUUUUUMMMMYYY! Unlike a lot of pita places around these guys actually bake their own ONSITE. It’s always fresh and warm, not to mention their salad bar, always full and fresh and tasty, and did I mention… the dishes??? OMG, the mixed grill is a masterpiece, but if you like a traditional mediterranean shwarma, why not go with that. It’s chicken and lamb, a fantastic combo. The falafel has to be the best I’ve ever tasted in LA. try their homemade thina, humus and AMBA! Friendly prices too. The staff is thoughtful and friendly and always eager to explain something on the menu. **** BTW They recently opened a location on Melrose, and I have to say, it is a godsend! I live much closer to that location and needless to say, I’ll be visiting more often!

Boo, — 1 star for you pita way! Decided to try for delivery(free for orders over $ 25) and when they gave me my total something sounded off. Asked the girl taking my order to provide the breakdown of charges and she was charging me $ 10 for delivery. When I asked why, she told me that I was outside of their delivery area — I live less than 2 miles away, WTH? So I cancelled my order and came in the next day for lunch instead. Shwarma wasn’t nearly as good this time around, so I guess Pita Way is more of a hit and miss. Ah well.

Pita Way is cheap, glorious, and has amba in a pump at the counter. If that isn’t enough for you, we will have words. Best bread(you get a choice of pita, baguette, and laffa) — get the pita, it is bar none the best. Pita is better than baguette is better than laffa. Best food– if you want to feel gross in the most awesome way, get the 50⁄50(which is half shwarma, half schnitzel). So wrong and yet so right. Otherwise, the Merguez kebab is pretty much a showstopper. P. S. Admittedly the décor is what I would call«authentically crappy Israeli». I am very OK with this, but others may not be.

If you’re like me, you’ve always wondered… where in this world do they have the audacity and genius to mix shawarma and schnitzel in laffa together? Thankfully, the inspired people at Pita Way have answered this question deliciously! If you’ve never had the pleasure of experiencing such a treat, make your way over and try it.

Mmm, mmm, mmm! You could easily miss this tiny place, but it’s one of my favorite pita places. Fast, friendly, and cheap! The mushroom shwarma laffa is dee-licious! I usually get some falafel on the side too. I used to come here with my friend all the time, and we’d split a meat laffa and a falafel laffa, and maybe splurge on some fries. There are lots of sauces for your tasting pleasure, and everything is always fresh! Plus, the place is always packed with people from the local community, so you can trust it to be pretty good.

This place has good food, not cheap but it definitely gives Nagila meat a run for their money. Seeing as it’s about the same price as a lot of stores with the same Mediterranean food in the area, I would have to compare it to everywhere else. There are 2 reasons why I would pick somewhere over this unless that place was closed(this place is open late, woohoo!). 1. They say they deliver, and instead of not saying they don’t deliver, go call them right now and let them trail you on for 10 min. until they basically say«no we don’t deliver can you come pick it up?» To me this is false advertising and I’d rather them already just say«no we don’t deliver» or take it off their NEW menus! 2. There are just fluffier laffas out there, the meat is good, but I just love that awesome fluffy laffa and theirs was just too thin!

I saw other reviewers talk about their chicken fingers so I tried them, not such a fan. I love their Shawarma in Laffa and have come here numerous times. I love how its open late and their food always taste fresh. There are 5 Shawarma places within a 10 blocks radius but I recommend everyone to come to Pita Way, I’ve tried everywhere else and this is the best in the Pico area.

Really awesome sandwiches, and super cheap. I rarely give fives out but this place is awesome! It’s taste is on par with other Persian type sandwich places but for half the price! I’ll definitely be back

I was really hopeful that in this restaurant starved area that Pita Way would be quick, cheap and delicious. I went here once in the first month they were open and probably won’t go back. I think what turned me off about this place was the«chibatta» style pita and the overly fatty /gamy tasting schwerma. i just wasn’t that impressed. Minus another star for stealing the logo and«way» from the«other» sandwich place … where’s the creativty? Haifa Restaurant on Pico near Robertson is a much much better bet for pitas(esp. Falafel!).

I am amazed at the good reviews below… I was totally not impressed. I had the lemon chicken pita, which left a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. I was unimpressed with the poor quality lettuce, the lack of tomatoes, the service, the fries, everything. Even the price was not good. If you’re looking for a great kosher pita, go up the street to the Nagila Meating Place and get the shwarma laffa with everything. You’ll be glad you did, and skipped Pita Way.

I like that this place is open late(except for Friday night – it is closed for Shabbat). I recommend if you want a chicken pita with fries and a soda to ask for the special. If you don’t ask for the special(it’s listed on a poster in their window and on their postcard) you will be charged a couple more dollars. It was bustling at 10pm on a Saturday. Young and old alike. Also, a few people came in for to go orders while I was there. I got the grilled chicken breast pita sandwich combo. The sandwich was good and fresh. The fries were thin and better than okay but not quite good. The soda machine was out of orange fanta. So I went with Sprite instead. The water/carbonation/soda syrup balance was good. There was an older woman who I thought was a customer. However, in the middle of my meal she picked up three squeeze bottles off of her table and brought them over to my table. «You try,» she said. There was a spicy sauce, a curry-ish sauce and a tahini. They were okay. I tasted them all. They weren’t offensive, but I didn’t need a second taste of any of ‘em.

With hot, fresh steaming(kosher) pitas being turned out of their authentic ovens on the spot all day, they don’t call themselves the Pita Way for nothin’ here. They do plates, wraps and combos with everything from steaming hot fresh falafel to their cilantro chicken and shwarma and it’s all good. You can have your sammies wrapped or on a roll, sub style. Everything is house made, from the pickles to the babaghanouj that I licked clean off the plate. Delish! This is a great spot on Pico’s Kosher Row for lunch or a late night bite, just remember, evening hours are based on sunset as opposed to a clock. When the sun goes down on Fridays, they’re out early for shabbat, but come Saturday night, they’re ready to rock and roll and stay open late. They’ve got fountain fizzy Kosher Coke, too! Mmmm.

So, I’m sitting in my apartment, reviewing my quickie food choices. Option a: walk the half block to Jack in the Box. I cringe. Option b: walk one FULL block to Pita Way. We’ve found a winner! I got a fantastic schwarma pita for only about 6 bucks, and while it definitely wasn’t as fast as good ol’ Jack, I think I can handle a 7 minute wait for freshly made food. However, my one complaint is that for a place that seems to be pretty damn authentic — it’s even Kosher! — the Mediterranean salad was lackluster, as was the hummus(wah wuhhh) and the pickles? Not half sour. What kind of Jewish establishment doesn’t sell half sours? Ohh, the humanity!

It’s too bad my job in the area is ending and I won’t be around for lunch any more… This place just opened last week and I went in for lunch with coworkers on it’s second day open. Service was a little slow to start, but I just went back today and I can tell they’re really dialing it in. This place is super clean, and Kosher too. All the ingredients are fresh and the homemade pita and lavash are awesome! Most of the items on the menu are sandwiches /wraps. ~$ 6 for a pita sandwich and ~$ 7 for lavash wraps. They do have full plates as well, but they’re a little to big and heavy for me for lunch. I’ll be stopping in every chance I get when I’m in this part of town.

Have I not known true pita all this time? Has my life been a sham? Is true pita nature supposed to be this light and fluffy and wonderful? And uh… is this the Subway of pita places? What’s with that name? Regardless, I see a new pita place in the ‘hood and of course I’m thinkin’ «Oooh, time to get to know this one a little bit better!» Turns out Pitaway opened for bizness last week and offers various shawarma, lamb, chicken, kebab, etc either in plate, pita, or wrap form. They bake their pita bread up fresh and let-me-tell-you homies that stuff is heavenly. The debut player today was a curry chicken pita — a little steep at $ 6.95, but I guess that’s what you get when it’s kosher. But in the end, topped with grilled onions and soaked in yellow curry spices, it was me and pita sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g. NC17 stylee. And when asked if I would like tahini, curry sauce, or ‘something spicy’ the guy at the counter said«This time, you take all three! Then next time you choose.» I like the way you think, Mr Pita Man. I’m all about greed and gluttony. So after a serious makeout sesh, looks like there will definitely be a second date. Hey you, close your eyes already! This lunch date is private!

On my way to a dental appointment, I saw a new sign«Pita Way». I love middle eastern food so I thought of it while in the chair. I stopped by and was welcomed to the clean and inviting little café by the attentive staff. The owner was bustling out of the kitchen every few minutes bearing home made pita fresh from the oven to offer the diners. So fresh they were still ballooned up with steam inside the pockets. He placed it on our table with a little cup of green herb condiment he called«hot sauce» which was an explosion of spices and herbs… and YES! It packs some heat! Orders are placed at the counter and Melena helpfully answered all of my questions and offered suggestions. Because my face was numb, I was unable to chew anything so I opted for spoonfulls of home made hummus what was divine and their white bean soup… which was so delicious and comforting I must figure out a way to rip that recipe off somehow. It won’t be too difficult because it was so memorable. Hudson had the lemon chicken wrap which was a salad and moist chicken cocooned inside fresh flat bread. I loved the smell of it and he took pity on me and sent me home with half to eat when I can chew safely. I saved some of the hummus and will be spooning some of that on the wrap too. For only opening last night, there were already locals gathering there for lunch while Nick’s next door was oddly vacant. I spied the yummy falafels and shwarma on other people’s plates and their happy faces — showing they were all pleased with their choices. I can’t wait to go back for a big spread with lots to bring home and eat late at night alone! And now Pita Way has spoiled me for all other pita bread — if it’s cold and deflated, I will feel cold and deflated too! Welcome to the neighborhood! See you there! Ivy
