I knew God was directing my footsteps to this truck when I forfeited my Planet Fitness session to decide to take a long walk for no good reason. I just didn’t feel like exercising in a stuffy gym this morning so I decided id take a midnight early morning stroll. I felt walking to Wilshire and then walking downtown would be best and that’s where this took me. I seen this taco truck parked near a bar as I was headed towards Wilshire on Labrea and I wanted to see what it was all about. Normally taco trucks don’t interest me but there was hardly anybody there(the first time I bought something), so I said why not. I jaywalked across the street and seen the name Huilacoche on it. I remembered my Unilocal friend Paul L telling me about how delicious it was, and I decided I was going to try it no matter what the cost may be. I started off with two items containing Huilacoche. The quesadilla and the taco Huilacoche. They both were $ 2 each so even if I hated it I still wasn’t losing out on trying a new concept. The Quesadilla had onions, mozarella and huilacoche. The taco had huilacoche, avocado and an onion I think. They both tasted good and the green sauce they provided made everything even better. They also have a vegetarian burrito Huilacoche. sorry I know I keep spelling this wrong, and I think that’s about it. They had lamb on the menu and some other regular meat for those that are interested in meats. The menu is pretty simple and nothing to cause mass confusion. Its a food truck and drunk patrons are what keeps this truck in business overnight. They weren’t terrible but theyre definitely not my cup of tea or anyone id choose to be around at 2 am if I had a choice in the matter. I think ill search for their locations during regular nondrunk peoples hours since now ive found one of my new favorite food trucks.

Taking taco trucks to a gourmet level. Lamb and Huitlacoche(corn fungi-kinda like mushrooms) are absolutely awesome.

I cannot believe this place only has 7 reviews. I found this place last night after getting tacos on Olympic which is just down the street. The one on Olympic has a LONG line but this place doesn’t but they had Lamb tacos so I tried one. THEBESTTACO around here for $ 1.50. Chicken taco is $ 1, Asada is $ 1.5. They are bigger than regular food truck tacos. If you are a lamb lover, get LAMB tacos. so JUICY and good flavor. I fell in love with this place and def will go back very very soon since it is just down the street from me. The guy who takes order is super nice. Very friendly and pleasant customer service which you don’t really get a lot in LA. I hope more people try this place. THEBEST!

First time trying this truck. The chicken burrito was tasty and dense with chopped checken, beans and rice. The signature dish is the Huitlacoche taco, is a savory veggie taco. I’ll be back for more. And note they offer lamb as an option on tacos and burritos. Friendly people running the truck. You can wash you meal down with a beer or whisky at the Little Bar which is on the same block. Burrito was $ 8 and the tacos ranged from $ 1 to $ 2 each.

where to start? after a long day of school, i finally had the chance to stop by, the huitlacoche, lamb, and chicharon chicken was my all time favorite. The lamb was just unexplained taste. Bomb spot, everyone should go check it out. why eat off the dollar menu when you can get some fresh cooked to order(no premade) mexican food. s/o to the chef edgar and josh for taking care of your boy. Give it a 2 thumbs up

One of the BEST food trucks I have ever eaten at. The food is restaurant quality, and the lamb is absolutely out of this world. Very good pricing, friendly service, and a one of a kind product(huitlacoche is not something easy to find). The chef is very dedicated to making sure his customers are happy with his food product, and he uses high quality ingredients, while making every dish fresh to order(not premade). You should absolutely try this place out, have the lamb burrito and the huitlacoche quesadilla, you will be glad you did.

I tried this place at a taco truck. The guy was nice enough. Lately I have been on a kick for pollo tacos. I’m not really sure why, but I didn’t see the other taco truck guy around so I went with this one. I can’t say I was superbly impressed. It was an ok taco, nothing outstanding for a street taco. I wouldn’t say it was bad per se, just not anything I would go out of my way to repeat.

Really genuine guys with a really genuine product! I saw huitlacoche(the food, not the truck) the first time years ago in a bizarre foods show claiming it was«Mexican caviar» or «Mexican truffle» and laughed it off alongside Rocky Mountain oysters and balut. Now every time I see the truck parked at Wilshire and La Brea I have to order something, and with the incredible prices, even with the couple dollars I have in my pocket I can get a fresh, delicious meal cooked up fast enough for me to still catch my bus. I can’t wait to try everything on the menu!

Delicious fresh huitlacoche quesadillas! Stumbled into this truck on La Brea and Wilshire, nicest guys running the joint. They get their huitlacoche fresh, which is rare, usually the canned stuff is most widely available. Will be back.

Wow. This truck’s menu was totally unexpected. I wasn’t hungry, but had to try something. I knew I made the right choice with the tender and delicious lamb taco the moment it hit my taste buds. The taco was garnished with red onions and cilantro. I can’t wait to try more of their concoctions. Another treat was the pineapple water. The scent, color and flavor made it clear fresh pineapples were used. It was perfect. Not too sweet.
