Best Indian food I’ve had in LA. I’ve gone here at least twenty times. Great service and even better food!

This place has the worst samosas I’ve ever had. Too doughy and dense. Felt like they were purchased frozen and not made in house. The chicken soup that came with dinner was not so great either. However… the Shahi Paneer and Chicken Tandoori were fantastic. And this restaurant gets extra points for serving an entrée either by itself, or with daal, raita and rice. Yes it cost more than the plain entrée, but we appreciated not being nickled and dimed for every little extra. This is a mom and pop kind of joint so service and atmosphere not exactly spot on, but friendly enough.

Went to go eat here today. I typically dont like Indian food at a restaurant because it is never like my mom makes it. But the buffet was great! The food was great, really flavorful. The price of the buffet is perfect. I was hesitant about going here after reading the reviews about service but I feel like we were treated extremely well. Nice clean place, happy and attentive staff, and great food! What more could you ask for?

oh EIG. The food used to be so much better several years ago, but unfortunately, it just isn’t the same. I do appreciate that you can order a protein with pretty much any curry you like, which is so nice, as some Indian restaurants do not offer that option. However, we ordered the lamb masala and the veggie vindaloo. The lamb tasted off and the masala sauce was — hard to describe — not enough cream? not enough tomato? kinda watery? just not very tasty and was not hot(temperature wise), though it was ‘spicy’ as we ordered it. The carrots in the other curry dish were hard, and again the curry was off, it just didn’t taste right and wasn’t flavorful, almost bitter. We ordered both dishes as dinner plates, so we got the raita and dal included, and we ordered regular and garlic naan. The naan is good. Salad with dinner is bad. Just iceberg lettuce with some, I think thousand island, dressing splattered on top. Service. Service was not great. Well, I’ll say two of the three servers waiting our table were good. We had a young man, who constantly filled our waters, brought us dinner, double checked to make sure we wanted, truly wanted, ‘spicy.’ But there was a woman who came to our table when we first sat down. She came to our table over and over, hovered; we told her we weren’t ready, she came again, each time asking if we wanted anything from the wine or beer menu, all times telling her no — finally had to tell her we were pregnant and couldn’t have alcohol. All three were constantly hovering right inside the restaurant door and watching our table — I think they didn’t have much to do as we were the only table on a Friday night at 7pm. After that, pretty much left alone, always had full water glasses, and waiter brought the tamarind chutney container when I asked. On the tamarind chutney… most Indian restaurants supply both the tamarind and cilantro chutney at no cost when you dine in. It is usually part of the condiment supply for Indian cuisine in my experience. We were charged $ 2.00 as part of our meal to have it on the table. For take out, no problem, dining in, that just feels like the restaurant is trying to squeeze more money from me. Do not let them pack up your food. I think she threw out like half our leftovers and barely gave us all the raita and dal on our plates. Stiff my chutneys and raita?! I just can’t anymore with this place.

The service is horrible. The waiter seems to hate his job and walks away from the table without acknowledging what’s said, no matter how nice you try to be. The curries are overly mild. I eat a lot of all kinds of Indian and I didn’t think this was worth paying for. When we asked for it hot, and complained that it wasn’t, they stirred tons to dry curry powder in and brought to us with a smirk. I soon found out why. The lumps of dry powder were easy to spot. So the food went back to the kitchen. They replaced the rice but not the cold naan or other sides. With all the arguing in the kitchen I didn’t feel too safe as to what was in it now. The woman who works there made some effort to take care of us but yeah… The lunch buffet might be okay. It’s cheap and you can serve yourself. So not a better deal than frozen supermarket curry but alright for eating out. They don’t mention that the buffet is not available on the living social /check in deal /groupon deal, but refer you to the sign on the door when you ask. A little late? Absurd experience.

Great food with great service. Would highly recommend. My wife and I are big fans of Indian food but have been recently disappointed in the quality of food in most of the Indian restaurants in Los Angeles. But we have now found our go to restaurant for Indian food. One of the best I have ever tasted. Some taste buds were activated that have never been activated before. You know the food is good when the next day you are still thinking about it. We got the chicken masala, chicken tikka, sag paneer and the garlic nan. Absolutely delicious. The masala was like no other… tastes delicious and had some unique flavors. He chicken tikka was very juicy and had hat classic Indian barbecue flavor to it. The service was also first rate. I would highly recommend.

My favorite tikka masala in the LA area. They also recently added a buffet which has been a great time saver for work lunch, love it!

I’ve been coming to East India Grill for many years now. It’s by far the best Indian food in the area, and now they have a great lunch buffet too! Lots of choices, including their fantastic Chicken Tikka Masala for the lunch deal, which is only $ 9.95. Other standouts include their samosas, and the garlic naan. Super friendly service, and easy street parking(as well as an underground lot accessed from the alley in back).

In addition to the variety of different combinations available on the lunch menu, they also now have a lunch buffet. Everything you can eat, and good for those with limited time. Best part is that one can choose either the buffet or select items from the lunch menu which are still freshly prepared. I usually choose the lunch menu, and the vegetable of the day was squash with a richly spiced sauce with cardamom and cloves. It just doesn’t get better than this!

Just finished dining here and the food was amazing! We ordered the cheese naan, chicken korma, chicken tikka masala and the saab paneer and mango lassi. The service was also great! They even gave us a complimentary coconut ice cream dessert. We are definitely coming back!

Really great Indian place! Look on groupon for their deal $ 12 for $ 24 worth of food! The pros: We for the sag aloo and the beigan bhartha and both were wonderful. I also liked the sweet naan although I’ve had better. They also had a small scoop of coconut ice cream for free which was a nice gesture. Also, the servers were all really sweet. The cons: The cauliflower dish wasn’t as good and was extremely oily. Also inside was extremely hot and stuffy and smelled overwhelmingly of food, and outside was really cold so it was kind of uncomfortable. Then I had to use the bathroom but they couldn’t get it unlocked so they had me use the men’s bathroom which was disgusting.

Decent, though overpriced, food – and AWFUL service. If you speak English, this probably isn’t the place for you. Clueless, passionately disinterested staff are guaranteed to alternatively ignore and misunderstand everything you say to them. And 45 minutes or so before closing, the kitchen crew will force you out of the dining room by gassing you with bleach fumes. An altogether unpleasant experience I don’t want to repeat. Highly unrecommended.

I have been eating here for years, and every time I leave I wonder why I have yet to leave them a review! The food here is amazing. Being Indian and having tried MANY places over the past 20 years in LA, this is definitely my favorite one BY far. The food is delicious, my favorites include the chicken curry and shrimp korma! Also, the staff is incredibly sweet and attentive. They are so ready to deliver A+ service. The owner works here as well and does everything he would ask someone else to do, which is incredibly nice and deserves loads of respect. The best food is made by people that care and the owner and staff here definitely do. Also, the naan is always so fluffy and perfect. YUM

The food was fresh, hot and yummy. Wonderful service ! We bought the living social deal which was 50 for 100 really good deal. Ordered 4 dishes and 2 glasses of wine came to 96.00 spot on. 10 for tax + 20 for tip so still not a cheap night at 80 total but really was enough for 4 people which would have been pretty economical — lots of yummy leftovers for next day.

This place is just awesome. I’ve passed it often, wondering if I should stop in(and knowing that I love Indian food). I’m glad I did. It was so freaking good. Good portions, great taste. I had the chicken tikka masala and the saag paneer, with the garlic & basil naan. Holy hell. Good masala, not too sweet(sometimes there’s too much coconut) and not too tomato-tasting. A good mixture. The saag was just as good. Maybe the best I’ve had in LA period. And the naan was really great. I could probably have gone for some more garlic, but I’m a serious garlic addict. My only tip would be, if you like spice, to order the spicy. I love spice and got the medium because at some Indian places, the spicy option just lights your mouth on fire. But the medium wasn’t very spicy. Go full spice if you want it. Other than that, get to this place. There is some pretty damn good Indian food in LA, but especially in this neighborhood, East India Grill is my new spot.

Absolutely the best Indian food around town! I have been to many Indian restaurants in LA and this one can’t be beat. I usually go for the Makhani Tikka Masala Curry which is so, so good. For appetizer, we got the curried mussels which were very saucy and delicious. We also ordered the Saag Paneer which was tasty. The Garlic Basil Naan was a perfect pairing and came out warm and soft. For dessert, we ordered the rice pudding, which I didn’t try because I was too full, but it looked amazing! It was a pretty good deal for how much food we got. We had enough leftovers to take home for later! My first visit was just three weeks ago and I have already been back for more! The staff is attentive and extremely polite. I can’t say one bad thing about this place!

The food here is good enough but the service is lacking. Came for lunch to use a Groupon I had purchased which I’ll never do again for this place. There was a huge confusion over the Groupon and what it could be used towards. There was more confusion than there needed to be and ultimately I ended up spending more on top of what I had purchased… very misleading. The server also didn’t understand much of what I was asking in terms of the plates and which meats could I order on the side without ordering an entire plate. A lot of whispering and stares as well so to my questions and Groupon situation from the staff. If I’m in the area, this would be a last resort if I’m in the mood for Indian cuisine. More so If I’m in desperate need which would never be the case Lunch 8÷9÷2014
