The restaurant was very beautifull and looks spicy. I like spicy food and I got the taste in this restaurant in whole LA. I wanna visit every month to this restaurant. The serving by patel was awesome

I have ordered from this restaurant numerous times and each time the food is really good! The last time I ordered the food was late. I called to check in and they apologized for the delay and gave me a $ 10 coupon. They were very nice and the food still arrived warm. I just ordered from them again today and mentioned that I had the coupon because something had gone wrong with my order the last time and Muhammad was INCREDIBLYKIND. He took care of some of my items and even let me keep the coupon for use another time. I was honestly really taken aback at how generous he was because the food being late ONE time out of many is really not that big a deal. However, Muhammad wanted to ensure that my experience was nothing but perfect and let me know to please contact him if there were any problems in the future. I HIGHLY recommend this place! Great food! Great service!

This is a good Indian restaurant great food and great service. I would recommend this place for people to come by and grab some food. The best is the chicken tikka masala and coconut curry can’t go wrong with.

Very bad service! Waiter was extremely rude and the dishes were not good at all. If you had really good Indian food elsewhere, you will know that my review is true.

First of all, I want to thank Muhammad and the team there for being so helping and so willing to accommodate my large enough party last night! I decided to host a «small» gathering for my parents 20th Anniversary and from the moment I called the restaurant, Muhammad was so nice and accommodating to the needs of this event. He worked with my budget and put together a nice array of food for an amazing price. Everything was super delicious and they even let us bring in our own beers and wines! My friends and family really enjoyed themselves, but most importantly my parents. If you or anyone you know wants a throw a small event and they love Indian cuisine, I suggest you call and set something up so you can hold your event here! Definitely coming back soon when the craving of Indian food arises like it does every other week. =) Thank you Anarkali for everything!!! :)

Mild tofu masala– bland. HOT veggie masala and medium eggplant Bharta — some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. I have to constantly shove rice and garlic naan in my mouth while chugging water to handle the heat but I just can’t stay away. My damn postmates driver forgot my raita too! Definitely try it out– the crackers they give you to start are addicting. Love Anarkali. Yum yum.

Not sure how this restaurant managed this long with 4*s… Trust me this isn’t an Indian restaurant. The cook definitely doesn’t understand Indian food. Cut short the long story. Stay away if you want authentic Indian food. Just waste of time and money.

Let me get the bad out of the way. Service was a little slow, the idiot behind us who thought having a full blast FaceTime conversation was a grand idea. Although the service took a few, the servers were on top of everything. They made for a really nice dinner atmosphere. The place is clean and the décor with is how I liked it, very authentic indian. Ovi was great server. Even when the idiot who sat by us was rude as hell, he was calm and very professional. Food was on point. Asked for spicy, and it was. Not over powering but a nice steady heat all the way through the meal. The mixed grill was sizzling so good. The Tikka masala was so good. The sauce was thick and flavorful. Saag was awesome. Love me some spinach. Rice, well, if they messed up the rice this review would have been 1 star. Coconut curry veggies were sweet and robust. All in all, I would recommend and tag along. =D

Excellent food and the nicest staff. Shoutout to Yosef, very kind. A couple veggie dishes(malai kofta, matar paneer) and some lamb tikka masala: all were excellent. I noticed the tikka was less salty than most other places, kind of a nice change. A great vibe inside, private and spacious. Will be back the next time we are in LA.

Decided to try this place, as we were in the area, and Unilocal usually steers us in the right direction. Unfortunately, not in this case. You can tell a lot about an indian restaurant from the chutney they provide you with the papad(poppadom). The chutney was watery and lacked basic flavors… ummm… too late to leave, as we had already ordered. Now, for the menu — for the main courses, they are set up in three ways of ordering — A la carte, Dinner or Royal Feast. This is offered on their menu and on their website. Dinner includes: Lentil Soup and Pulao Rice; Royal Feast includes: two medium portioned Vegetables Dishes of The Day, Pulao Rice, Naan, and a choice of Salad or Raita. Waiter told us that they only do the Royal Feast when it isn’t busy(so if you want a meal instead of a dish, you have to order everything individually). The place had a few tables full, but there was no line, and there were plenty of tables open — so it didn’t seem busy. Staff — there were two people doing everything, which wasn’t too bad for most of the meal, however there were times that the service was slow because of this. Both people were friendly, and worked hard. Food — we ordered the mixed grill — which was ok — sheek kebab was good(a little salty), everything else was very bland. The tandoori chicken was tender, but very little flavor. Food was saved in a skillet, which was hot enough to burn the onions under the meat. We also ordered the chicken makhni, which had a lot of food color added to it(it was a very red sauce, but not in a good way)… but again lacked any real flavor. A little salt would have helped a great deal. Finally, the Roti — ordered one — came out under cooked and doughy… asked them to replace it. it was cooked more the second time, but still had spots that were doughy, and under cooked. Really hoping this place does not represent LA’s indian food.

WOW. Everything about this place was INCREDIBLE. I used to go to an Indian place close to my house that I absolutely loved, but after eating here I don’t think I can ever go back to my old place. We got A LOT of food and absolutely everything was delicious. The samosas were amazing, as was the calamari appetizer(the sauce was incredible!). My sister got the vegetarian dinner option, which came with rice, two main dishes(garbanzo bean and eggplant were her choices), and a dessert. Every single thing she got was delicious. The rest of us decided to get two different chicken plates and a lamb plate. We shared everything, and each dish was better than the first. I was so full but didn’t want to stop eating because it was just that good. The chicken pasanda was my favorite! It was my dad’s birthday, and when we told the staff they brought out my sister’s gulab jamun, along with four mango ice creams on the house– with candles! Aside from this being a really nice gesture, I was so surprised by the mango ice cream. I never eat mango. I won’t eat other fruit if it was mixed in the same bowl as mango. But this was incredible. I nearly licked the bowl. I don’t know how it’s made but it’s sweet and creamy and now I want to go back for more. What really made our experience amazing was the staff. Our waiter, whose name I feel so bad for not remembering, was the nicest person ever. I am ALWAYS impressed when the waitstaff can memorize a long order without writing it down. AND it all came back perfectly. He was so friendly that I almost wanted him to sit down with us! Another gentleman also came to our table at one point who was just as sweet. The manager even went around the restaurant to check up on all the patrons, which I sincerely appreciate. I could write on forever about how great our experience was here, but I’m getting hungry and just want to eat the leftovers that are in my fridge. If you want good Indian food, you have to try this place.

I was very happy with everything I had today for a late lunch/early dinner. I have had Indian food in many places in the country, this is by far some of the best you can get in the US. I had the appetizers for 2, all of the featured apps were amazing. The flavors were great and the meat was tender. We also had the lentil soup and it was very flavorful. I split 2 chicken curries, the vindaloo and tikka masala. The flavors were amazing. I love spicy foods and the vindaloo was done right. The dish is spicy and it was flavorful. I’ve had many vindaloos that just taste like a bottle of cayenne pepper was dumped in it. That is not the case here, the consistency, the coloring and the spices were spot on. The tikka masala was also amazing. It was a creamy consistency and the flavors were great. I highly recommend this to anyone.

Definitely one of the better Indian restaurants I have eaten at. The Chicken Tikki Masala & Chicken Korma were both delicious, and of course the Garlic Naan. Loved the décor and ambience from the moment you walk in the door. Service is always on point, super friendly. **Last time I ate here the server forgot our order of Garlic Naan, so the owner gave me a $ 10 certificate for our next visit — thought that was legit.

Yummy! My friend and I decided to try some Indian food on a nice Friday mid noon. Lunch hour just ended for us(ends at 3pm) so we were forced to get the dinner option. Surprisingly the price difference isn’t a big one. I wanted to try everything on the menu so I opted for an option that will allow me to taste test everything. The tikki chicken masala royal feast includes a soup, 2 veggie of their choice, rice, chicken masala, and a yogurt based condiment. The condiment tasted like sour cream which was really good with naan. I asked for spicy option and he suggested med spicy, but unfortunately it was not spicy at all. Maybe they got it all wrong because I tried my friend’s butter chicken curry and it was a lot more spicy than mine and he also ordered medium spicy. Oh well. Came with regular naan. The rice was also very good. My friend ordered the butter chicken curry dinner which just came with rice. We ordered 2 naans– the garlic basil naan, and the keema naan. I liked the garlic basil more because it was more flavourful. The papadan was on the house. It was so good! We asked for extras after we finished our first serving. I love the royal feast because it’s always fun to see a butt load of food brought to you, like im a queen… but I ate a quarter of it and was full. Food vs woman… food won. Will come back again one day and try a super spicy option. Was unsatisfied with the spicy level. But this place seemed authentic enough. Mango lassi beverage was also yogurt based either fresh mangos blended together. Very rich. This meal was very flavourful and rich. Will come back again.

Oh man, where has this place been all my life. Ever since my coworker showed me Anarkali, I’m here a few times a month. They start you out with papadum which are sort of like crackers and delicious. My go to has been the Chicken Tikka Masala which is around $ 8 for lunch. It’s not a huge portion but extremely filling and delicious. I have had the same dish at other places but this has been my favorite. The chicken is so tender and moist and the sauce is just perfect every time. You have a choice or rice or naan but if youre in a group that orders both they have no problem bringing more. In addition to great food, the service is always on point. Very friendly and a pleasant dining experience. Tip: If you want something sweet to finish the meal, order the gulab jamun!

Came in last night for date night and the décor is straight from a Bollywood movie. We arrived around 8:30 to only 3 tables with patrons, yet as we left it started to pick up. We were seated immediately and ordered a lot of food. The boyfriend ordered: 1) Chicken Korma with a side of rice 2) Mango Lassey– traditional Indian mango drink I ordered: 1) Jhinga Masala– Shrimp with Coconut Curry sauce 2) Garlic naan It was delicious and excited to come back. Very nice waitstaff, but very very slow. solid place with legit street parking

Sad sad experience… almost as sad as the tragic end of Anarkali herself(she was a courtesan who fell in love with the prince and ended up buried alive into a wall by the angry king who wanted her all to his old crusty self) We were starving and craving some good Indian food — both wishes didn’t get fulfilled :-( We were seated and welcomed by a cheerful server who soon forgot about our existence and only came to check on us when he overheard us how long it had been that somebody had paid us any attention… Ordered the mix appetizer combo which was a sorry mix of a cold samosa, cold pakora and cold, dry kebabs(2 chicken tikka pieces and sheesh kabob pieces). The chutney and ‘salad’ which was on the house was disgusting! I mean I’m not kidding when I say the sweet tamarind chutney tasted like cough syrup and the mint chutney could only be eaten by pouring it onto something and not by itself. The salad was basically a mix of onions and tomatoes in parsley. I asked for raita(yogurt with cucumber) and was sorry as soon as the first bite hit my taste buds and I realized it was sweet. Why their raita was sweet beats me?! So the food came after eons later when we had almost lost our appetite and my friend was a min away from walking out and while we also witnessed a similar showdown at another table where the angry bf’s girlfriend was trying to calm him down with kisses and coos. We ordered butter chicken and lamb roghan josh. The lamb curry was better yet not great and the butter chicken’s gravy was better tasting than the meat itself. The garlic naan was far from garlicky and much like the plain naan(dunno why it was called garlic). Plain rice was as rice is, nothing special. This was the sorry tale of our sorry dinner… also notice how almost all the Indian reviewers are not happy with the food/service, that should tell you something. This place needs major fix up!

Anarkali is the famous dancer celebrated in Bollywood films as the lover of one of the Shahs of Rajasthan. Stepping into the restaurant, you’re transported back to a raj’s palace with the arches, intricate lattice woodwork, and long marble fountain in the center of the restaurant. Walking in reminded me of the Lake Palaces in Udaipur, and could feel that this is truly an authentic Indian restaurant. The Rajasthani paintings of elephants and warriors printed on old banknotes in Urdu hang from each booth, and the sitar music combined to make for a perfect atmosphere of cultural authenticity. And then there was the menu: The menu is huge. And diverse. And literally everything is excellent here. We had the dinner for two, which I recommend for Indian food novices and experts alike. The portions were gigantic! There was tandoori chicken, which was juicy yet crispy. We changed the chicken tikka out for butter chicken, which was amazing. The saag paaneer, aloo gobi, and lentil dishes were so good. There are many varieties of naan and roti as well, all so tasty! I recommend the garlic naan, of course. Top it off with a mango laasi and their signature mango custard dessert, and you’ll have tasted all of the wonders of Rajasthan in one sitting. The service here was so attentive, and the waitstaff so friendly! The owner even came and chatted with us. Having just returned to the U.S. from visiting India, we talked all about our travels and what we loved about our trip. we could really see how the owner beamed with pride for his food and his country. An amazing experience. Other reasons to visit this epic place: 1. They have their own parking lot. Yes, in Hollywood even! 2. the prices are so cheap for all the food you get — rare for an Indian place 3. Portions are generous 4. They deliver all over LA! Overall here’s the score: Food: 5⁄5 Service: 5⁄5 Atmosphere: 5⁄5 Price: 5⁄5 Parking: YES! They have a parking lot in back. Overall: 5⁄5. This may be the best Indian restaurant I’ve been to in the U.S. Go visit and go home satisfied!

TL;DR– I’m a skeptical Indian food eater but this place is really good! I’ll premise this by saying I hardly go out to eat Indian food because(1) I come from an Indian household and nobody makes it as good as mom does and(2) I have a plethora of Indian food to eat at home… but this place is pretty awesome. I actually would love to take my momma here to eat because I’m sure she will enjoy it as much as I did. First off, driving into LA and finding parking is a struggle. The owner told us they have their own lot! I found street parking but let that be known that it is not necessary. I came here for my friends bday and the owner/manager was extremely generous! He provided my friend’s dinner on the house, as well as a bottle of beer and mango kulfi for the entire table. The mango kulfi was good! It was, however, different from any other kulfi I’ve had before… but those I buy from the store so I’m not sure how legit it is. This was like a soft serve kulfi. The texture reminded me of the mithai doi(sweet yogurt) that my mom makes. It was very rich, and really sweet. I’m picky about mango lassi and I am usually disappointed when I get it anywhere else except this one place in Artesia… but this place did not disappoint! Their mango lassi is the brightest shade of orange I’ve ever seen any mango lassi be, which is interesting but the texture is nice and yogurt-y and tastes great with the heavy Indian food. At first I thought the glass was too small, but in retrospect I think it was the perfect size bc everything else you eat will really fill you up. The provided complimentary papadam. I really hate papadam, I think it tastes just terrible in general. However I always like to give food multiple chances and this one, tastes like baked lays! Which is pretty awesome on its own, but pair it with the chutneys and onion and it’s magical. I’m rethinking my opinion of papadam now. I also tried their potato samosa and I was super impressed! It wasn’t your typical potato samosa, but it has great flavor. And those samosa corners was like catnip to me! Especially with the chutneys. For my entrée, I ordered aloo gobi(potato and cauliflower curry) and 2 puris(a deep fried flat bread. I love naan but puris have my heart more, and not many Indian restaurants seem to serve it like they do with naan, which surprises me. I never actually eat naan when I go to India, it’s all about the puris and rice. Aloo gobi puri is my favorite combo! Whenever I visit family in India, they always make sure to make this bc they know I will eat it no matter how full I am. It definitely tastes different from how my mom makes, but it’s still very delicious in its own way! The puri was perfectly crispy and fluffy all at once. The price is like Indian cuisine price. It’s not cheap like the Indian buffets but the food it infinitely better(those buffets are an abomination). I paid around 25 dollars, but I left super full and got a good amount of food! This is definitely a fun place to do family style bc then everyone can order something different and share. My one entrée was like 3 servings. The«dinner for 2» size was more like for 4 people. I highly recommend this place for Indian food! I would love to come back and try some of my other favorite dishes like butter chicken and paneer! Plus they have all these different types of naans and parathas that need to be eaten.
