I would give them no star but that is not an option. I came here with some friends a few times. I was craving their Jalea de Pescado. Unfortunately we ended up walking out. They had at least 5 waiters but none came over to take our order. However, they managed to help the 3 tables they sat after us. I figured they don’t want or care for our business so we walked d out. The waiter saw we were leaving and visibly annoyed but he made no attempt to apologize or convince us to stay. Bad service. Will not be coming back.

This place is cleaner looking than that other famous Peruvian place down the street that will go un-named. But that’s pretty much all I can say. The lomo saltado was good but the meat was not as super-tender as it should be. I got a few bits of gristle every so often. The bummer was the ceviche, which is not a true ceviche. All the seafood was cooked and then pickled in acids. For me, ceviche starts raw and is cooked in acids. To their credit, they have a picture of the dish but all the seafood components are covered in red onion slices, so you can’t tell until the atrocity comes to your table. I’ll say it again: For me, a ceviche is raw. And yes, I spent a month in Peru and another month in Ecuador and I’m from a ceviche culture… so this was a total bummer. I hardly touched the plate. I probably won’t be back here unless a friend forces me. It’s not terrible but it’s not awesome.

Wow and wow. A great fresh bread hits the table with this crazy good, green spicy spread. My plate of fish with potatoes and wine sauce came with rice. It was good but not a great dish for someone who’s a spicy food freak(me!). It was better after I squeezed a bunch of lemon juice and heaped that spicy green sauce all over it. Bottom line, #50 is a nice fish but more for someone who can’t take heat with there food. The best dish in the house is the one where French fries are cooked into the dish. Sorry I can’t remember the name! Just look for the fries in the dish and get that!

I would give 4 stars because of the sometimes spotty service, but the food here is just too good — I would not be able to call myself a good judge of restaurants if this got anything below a perfect rating. I first started out as a noob when it comes to Peruvian food, my friend brought to Mario’s for the first time to try their Lomo Saltado, and I was blown away ever since. We’ve been going around, and Don Felix was always on the list. Great restaurant, great food, no complaints ATALL!!! Ask for extra aji sauce! I would buy buckets if I had the money. One thing I wanted to point out was that the guy who takes our phone orders seemed very irritable. Understandably, the phone connections is a little spotty at times, and it’s hard to understand each other. Basically, I’m repeating what I’m saying, over and over again, because I can’t understand him and he can’t understand me! And we’re basically yelling at each other. Jesus, bro, who pooped in your cereal that day? Anyways, I try to avoid calling in now and just order delivery via the Rushorder app(HUNGRY3 promo code if you wanna save some bucks while you’re at it).

I would give this place 5 stars because we have always been here and enjoyed the food… last night(Christmas eve) I ate the arroz chaufa with mariscos and we’ll it was absolutely delicious. I unfortunately shared the plate and I got BADFOOD poisoning! My dad also got it and it ruined our Christmas plans to go to vegas since we had to run to the bathroom every 5 minutes and this even made me consider turning vegan because the pain was so bad… this was our favorite place but yeah not if they serve bad seafood. Update a day after Christmas I got a bad fever I took 800 mg of ibuprofen twice and two sleeping pills. now I got my appetite back. My dad said they lost his business forever now.

I was a little worried about coming to this location since the one on fountain closed down. But the food was just as delicious! I have my usual, Lomo Saltado and it was great and fresh. I don’t care how much it costs, it’s still the best Peruvian food I’ve had. They served me so much food, I couldn’t eat it all and the owner was so concerned he thought I didn’t like it. But with the huge serving, I had it for lunch and dinner. I recommend this place to those who were used to going to the one on fountain. It’s still delicious and there’s parking right upfront!

I am so disappointed with the food. It was so dry and the ceviche taste like rubber. Never coming here again! By the way I’m Peruvian so sad!

As a native, I’m super picky about Peruvian food, though this place was relatively great! I would actually give it a 3.5. We had the following: — Lomo Saltado: what everyone likes. French fries and beef sautéed with onions, garlic and tomatoes. Pretty impressed to be honest! — Papa a la Huancaina: didn’t like it. The potato was so hard to eat and they barely gave us sauce to dip. — Pescado a lo macho: I have a bittersweet feeling about this one. It was good but not impressive. I would come back though and try other things :).

My husband was in the mood for Peruvian food on Saturday night and after stopping by Marios, which had a crazy 1 hour wait(at approximately 8:15 p.m.), we decided to try Don Felix after calling and being assured there was no wait. We wondered if that was a bad sign, but chose to chance it based on current Unilocal rating. I was so glad I did! There was no wait, good service and food came out quickly! The food was so tasty! I loved it! I ordered Lomo Saltado and my husband ordered the Bistec a lo Pobre. I also ordered a side of platano frito, which was a great portion… enough to bring some home. Overall, the portions were large, food came out hot and I would definitely visit again!

The day I went there(and I actually went twice to be sure), I just couldnt figure what all the excitement on Unilocal was about. The food quality was far below Marios and the service was extremely slow. Very loud and uncomfortable in general. My shrimp was overcooked and the sauce was not to my liking. I would recommend Natalie peruvian over this if you are in the area as it is pretty close by, never over crowded and much faster and friendlier. But if you need some where to take a lot of loud crying kids go here instead.

Skip the hour wait at Marios– this place literally tastes the same. If this place was as well-known as Marios, I question which branch would do better. The only thing slightly different is their green sauce. But, it’s still yummy in its own way. I prefer the Pollo Saltado over the Lomo Saltado only because the beef was a little dry the last time I went– still delicious but I think chicken is slightly better. The fries. Chicken. Tomatoes. Onions. Ugh! All drenched in their perfectly seasoned marinade– makes for the perfect comfort food. Good food, nice staff, easy parking– that’s enough to keep me coming back.

I always ate at the location up the street because it was closer to my apartment, but since they’ve closed those doors, I made the drive a bit further down Virgil and tried the original. Although I had my introduction to Peruvian at Mario’s, Don Felix was always my go to spot. Since moving back east it’s one of the things I miss most about LA. The lomo saltado was absolutely fantastic and rich with flavor. The portion is huge and while I do enjoy other things on the menu — this is what I get most of the time, especially after not having had Peruvian in quite some time. The green sauce on the tables seemed to hold much more of a kick than what they were serving up the street. The waiters at this location seem far more engaged than the ones that worked at the other Don Felix. Between the more spicy rendition of the green sauce and the more attentive wait staff — I wish I had been driving a bit further down the street all those years. I hope I get a few chances to go back while I’m here in LA.

Delicious Peruvian Food, the Lomo saltado is definitely the plate to get. Huge portion, very good delicious meat. The bolillo and guac you get in the beginning is absolutely delicious; the guac is spicy, but it definitely has flavor. The reason why I give them 4 stars is because the last time I went here i felt like the meat was a little too dry, perhaps because it was close to closing time. Other than that, the countless times I’ve been here have been amazing.

A local favorite. Fantastic lomo saltada — steak, tomato, onion, real thick fries — served with rice. Terrific. But they don’t do things by half — big portions means you can ask for a box and finish off at home. Two meals for the price of one. Good, solid, hearty food. Quality ingredients and friendly customer service.

I’m not quite sure why these people have less stars than Mario’s! Maybe it’s the location that makes them less popular but… I do prefer Don Felix over crowded ass Mario’s! I’ve never had to wait an hour for a good, hot, Peruvian dish here. Service isn’t bad in comparison to Mario’s, this place is bigger. Best dishes here are their«Saltados» which is sautéed purple onions, tomatoes, French fries, and meat… the marinate is TODIEFOR! I am yet to explore the menu because all I get here is a Saltado plate! If you want to try good Peruvian food with available parking and quick service, this is the place to be!

Ordered tallado de camaron, lomo saltado, mariscos saltado. The saltados were dry, no juice under the saltado. Fries were dry not tasty. The mariscos were dry. I was disappointed. the tallado de camaron which is chow mein noodles were good. Huge portions. I will not be returning. I’ll stick to Chios Peruvian in north hills on Sepulveda blvd, my fave spot !!!

Food and service, they were good back in days, not anymore. New management, Higher prices, the waiter wants to force my party of 3 to the smallest table, when the restaurant was almost EMPTY, only one table with 2 people lunching. So now we have an expensive restaurant, food no bad, but not good as use to be, and a very poor service. When the server tried to pick up the table for me and my friends, even after I mentioned that I want any other available larger table because we was going to order several plates, he says«nope, you know how the boss is» really? ha ha, that’s ridiculous, unbelievable! We leave without make any order, because you don’t want to fight with a waiter, if you want to keep your food safe of contamination. Not recommendable any more.

They’re not Mario’s but they’re an okay alternative to it if you want to have a nice sit down dinner without having to wait at Mario’s ridiculous line. The go-to Peruvian dish is always Lomo Saltado(Steak Saltado– steak, vegetable, and french fry sauteed together with a side of rice). It’s delicious! My only complaint– their green hot sauce is really off. It’s missing a lot of the heat and flavor, which is disappointing because that’s always the main highlight of Peruvian food for me.
