I love this little diner. Husband usually gets me the veggie omelet with the hash browns to go and its always great. When I have been there, it’s amazing to me how they can turn out all this different food and still make everyone happy

Food is always good here but the service is horrible, if you stand bad service and good food, go for it but don’t expect to be treated well unless your a young white male. I’m not even going to get into why this is but you’ll figure it out.

Great for a quick, casual diner meal — at a great price. I nearly always go for an omelette. This is the kind of place where you can expect American cheese on your omelette. I want that sometimes. They always bring salsa, which is house made and spicy. They have LA Weekly there, which I like to browse while I eat. The staff is friendly and refills my iced tea frequently. The menu is varied — so there is something to please everyone.

This place is great and it has that really diner quality to it. They treat you well, food comes out quick and I really like the breakfast. The corn beef hash to the omelettes are just so tasty and fulfilling. This place has earned my respect and when I want that diner homemade breakfast with a nice cup of old fashioned coffee I choose Armons.

Food did not live up to the hype of the other reviewers but that is not what bothered me the most. Our waitress was rude and absolutely butchered our order. Not coming back.

It is what it is. Like a diner you would find in Akron Ohio from the 70s. Knowing that i love it. The food isn’t going to blow your mind but it’s not going to leave you in a depression after eating it either. You eat what you ordered and move on with your day never looking back on what you just ate. And that totally isn’t a bad thing. It’s like going to target because you need to buy white socks, toilet paper and floss. It’s nothing special but it’s totally good and you did it and you’ll do it again without much though before during or after the process.

Great diner(once again, thanks to my fellow Unilocalers!). Had to drive out to the SGV and needed a breakfast spot, found Armon’s on Unilocal and went for it. Easy to find, not far off the freeway, parking was easy to find. Inside, it’s like walking into a time warp back to the 1950s(I don’t think they have updated much in there since then!) but I was there to eat, not admire the architecture. Got a spot at the counter, was given a big, heavy mug of mediocre coffee, and I knew I was in for a good diner breakfast. Ordered the chicken fried steak, and it came out slathered in a mildly greenish gravy(not the typical white sausage gravy). Despite the color, the gravy was tasty and the chicken fried steak hit the spot. Not the best I’ve ever had(nor even the best in LA, probably would tip Pann’s for that honor). Nice heaping side of crispy hash browns on the side. Okay, now the highlight of the whole meal(which tipped this to a 4-star) … their home made salsa. Watch out, this stuff is hot … doesn’t start out that way, but about 60 seconds after ingesting it, you’ll know! But the taste was fabulous! On the steak, on the potatoes, on the fried egg, heck probably would have made the coffee taste better. I wish I could have bought a bottle to take home! Thank goodness we still have little hole in the wall spots like this, it’s a piece of Americana!

It was one of those mornings where a greasy breakfast was needed to recover from one of «those» nights. Called up sis for a recommendation and she says, this is her goto spot and she’d meet me there. I found metered parking on Mentor. We got there the same time and only had to wait a couple of minutes for a booth. Yep, its got that old time, small town, diner feel. Its a small space. I was tempted by the morning special of Huevos Rancheros, BUT went with my other morning staple, Corn Beef Hash. How was it? VERYGOOD. Corn Beef Hash was crispy at the edges(so were the Hash Browns). The eggs were prepared just right(Over Medium) and my toast was brought out with no butter. I do have one tiny complaint; once our food was brought, the server never checked on us again, but fortunately, I didn’t need anything. Otherwise, satisfied that diner breakfast craving.

I wanted to try something different in the area for breakfast and this place had fairly decent reviews. Parking can be pretty tough, but got lucky finding one just across the street in front of Jamba Juice. Turns out, I think they may have a parking lot out back in the alley area, so you may want to check there first. The place was pretty crowded, but if you’re one or two people, I would recommend sitting at the counter. We were a party of 5, so we waited a good half hour. The staff are very sweet and kind. Our waitress was so friendly and recommended some tips. I was craving meat, and they had the rib eye and eggs on special. I ordered it medium, but was a bit overdone. It was okay and tasted pretty good. Typical diner type food in a diner looking place. They have different types of dishes including Asian flair type meals. I’ll definitely make this a go to spot for breakfast/brunch. I like going to places who serve decent food with great service.

It is great to know that Armon’s Restaurant is still around in Eagle Rock after all these years(since 1962 in fact). My boyfriend wanted an American breakfast on a Sunday morning, so we ended up going to Armon’s Restaurant for our meals. It was difficult to find parking near the area, but we were lucky to find one a couple of stores away and since it was Sunday, the metered parking was FREE! Armon’s Restaurant is one of the few old school diners still operating in Los Angeles despite of the numerous changes that occurred throughout the years. The diner still remained intact with its decorations, ticket counter, seats, booths, and a long list of affordable meals from the menu. Apparently, there were two entrances coming from the front and back when we entered the place and had to wait for about 10 – 15 minutes on a busy Sunday morning. While waiting for our seats, I was looking around the paintings on the walls and was definitely in awe of several pictures depicting Eagle Rock in the 1960s. After waiting for a while, we finally got seats near the ticket counter and were welcomed by a friendly server. I ordered orange juice and a meal consisted of sunny side up eggs, corned beef hash, hash browns, and two wheat toasts. They each tasted delicious, especially the hash browns being very crispy and the fried eggs runny enough for my wheat toast. We were happily satisfied with our meals. Overall, Armon’s Restaurant still stands tall in Eagle Rock. P. S. $ 10 minimum on credit card transactions.

Tried this place twice for take out. The workers are nice and friendly and food is decent, but nothing special. Most of the food is stuff you can make at home for a fraction of the price and probably with better ingredients but I come here for the convenience and also because I was in the area and needed some food to take home. I had corn beef hash, fried rice and pork chops. Corn beef hash and fried rice were as one would expect however pork chops were not good. They put some weird breading on it and it was super soggy; meat was also tough. I’d prob come back if I was in the area but wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.

Sometimes the only place I want to eat breakfast is a diner. This is one of the nicest diners in the area. The place is old but actually that makes it more interesting. Diner has to look old otherwise I would call it fake diner :) I like the coffee here a lot. It is not too strong or too weak. It is perfect. The service is quick and the portions are generous. The menu has about 100 different items and sides you can pick from. The average price for omelette is about $ 9.00. The reason I am not giving it 5 star is because there is no creativity at this place. The menu doesn’t offer anything different or special. I still com back when I crave for a good breakfast at a local diner though.

I’m lucky I found this place. It’s hidden away. Just like those diners that have been there forever. Kinda greasy but good. Great prices

Solid diner. Something I’m fond of. And always on the lookout for. And a regular patron of. I had the tuna salad and my wife had breakfast — both were very good but the breakfast edged out the tuna. I will go with breakfast for lunch(or breakfast) the next time I’m here.

Ugh! Breakfast great, but the place was very crowded & understaffed around 1130a this morning. The two servers were running around quick, so there was really no time to ask questions. I just got the diced ham-egg breakfast special for $ 6.95. To the cook’s credit, it came out quick, and it was piping hot. Problem was… when I gave the server at the counter my credit card, she said there was a $ 10 minimum to use it!!! Funny, I don’t remember that happening in the rare occasion I’ve been to Arnon’s(maybe I just had the cash). Anyways, I said there was no sign about it. She then said it was in the menu, and slid one on the counter next to me. It was on the bottom in small print. I said, «fine, I’ll order something else, but there really should also be a sign on the wall so I can know to bring cash.» She just said everybody sees it in the menu. But I then pointed out that The problem is… I just looked at the special board to order and NOT the menu! Then she told me she gets less money if a credit card is used(«You don’t lose, but WE lose.» So I just added on a dude Avocado dish to go for $ 2.95. Hate mom & pop restaurants like this that make it a hassle to use a credit card, or just ask for cash!

We will not be back. Which is a shame as the place is within walking distance to our apartment. There is nothing that more clearly says that a location does not care about their customer’s experience than allowing the daughter of one of the employees(assuming it was the daughter, she was definitely there with one of the employees) to watch a video, on a cell phone, in the middle of the restaurant, at full volume. Oh wait, when you catch the eye of one of the employees, look at the person, look at the child, nod your head«no» and watch the employee acknowledge the issue but do NOTHING about it, that is when I clearly knew they wanted my money and don’t care if I enjoy the experience. Even my husband agreed it was not appropriate. I understand that it is a family location, but mute is a thing. So are headphones. The volume was off on my phone while I was there, and I didn’t watch a single video out of respect for the other patrons in the restaurant. I expect, at minimum, the same courtesy from the employees as they would expect from the patrons. The best part? The cook in the kitchen kept looking out, shaking his head, and going back to what he was doing. Happened more than once. Is this a pet peeve of mine? Absolutely. It I am going to a restaurant, for my money I expect the restaurant to at least do the bare minimum to make sure I at least have the best experience they are able to provide. They didn’t even bother to pretend. And, it is a shame. The food and the experience, up to that point, were such that we would have likely returned. Nothing majorly impressive, but nothing bad. The location was clean, and the food was prepared as ordered. But no. Not a chance that we will be back. If I want to be annoyed over a meal, I will cook at home and stare in an annoyed manner at the dishes that remain once I am done eating.

This remains one of the few reasonably priced breakfast places in Eagle Rock. As I see more and more of these places disappear, its good to find Armons is hanging on. And with coffee, eggs, sausage, toast, and hashbrowns still under $ 10 its fast becoming a rare species. They also have breakfast and lunch specials for $ 6.95 and $ 7.95 respectively. I cant recall what they are(pictures to follow) as I tend to plumb for the chorizo and eggs. No frills. Simple food. Great service. A reasonable price. Meets all the criteria that this englishman needs to get himself started in the morning. So in my book.5 stars. Parking: Theres a couple of spots out back and metered parking nearby, but park 1 block back, save yourself the 50c and walk off those calories!

My boyfriend(an Eagle Rock resident) introduced me to this place. It’s a no frills, no thrills place that does… to my surprise have lines out the door during breakfast. It’s small, divey and definitely could use some updates. I have only been for breakfast a few times but my boyfriend seems to enjoy coming here. It isn’t trendy, fancy or new. It as another reviewer put it – «it’s a down & dirty American diner ran by Thai people(lol).» She had my sentiments EXACTLY! It also has a small, local, longtime business feel and I see the workers/cooks in the back working hard and seem to get along well with the servers(points in my book). SERVICE: The ladies serving/running the place have always been pleasant, accommodating and pretty fast. They seem to have a good system going with their cooks and I’ve observed them joke and laugh. FOOD: I’ve been okay with the dishes I’ve ordered(corned beef hash, chicken fried steak, bacon, hash and eggs etc.) But I can’t say any of their food is amazing. Again, I’ve only been for breakfast and their prices are pretty reasonable and inexpensive. PARKING: There is metered parking along the street and in front of the establishment. But if look around the neighborhood and don’t mind a walk, you can find parking without meters.
