Richard’s Residential Repairs

I did not get to work with the business and thought that using a local business would help support the community. However, I did not receive a call back so never had the opportunity to even try them. I would not be surprised if this was just a single handyman doing jobs on the side and was not thorough in calling back potential clients, but this looked like a legitimate business with several employees. Puzzling.

I hired Richard for a minor cabinet repair and I thought he was friendly, timely, and did an excellent job. I am surprised by the couple of negative reviews here. I noticed that 6 5-​star reviews have been filtered. I suppose there are always some people who can have a bad experience with anyone.

Steve is a life saver! Whenever there’s a job to be done, regardless of how big or small the project may be, Steve is there to help us out. He responds to our request quickly, is incredibly punctual on the day of service, is always extremely thorough in his analysis of our needs as well as in the completion of our projects, and works efficiently. Best of all, Steve always has a smile on his face. It is always a pleasure to have Steve in our home and I recommend him without hesitation for any of your «handyman» needs!

Steve was able to come out very quickly and gave us a very reasonable estimate for the work we wanted done. I just wish I knew about him before I had some random come out and fix my dishwasher! I will be using Steve exclusively for any future repairs. He is friendly, honest, and gets the job done for a very reasonable and fair price. Thank you, Steve!

We got Steve Richard’s name from Los Altos Hardware. What a find he has been! We have enjoyed a host of repairs that he has done for us. So many items in our home have been fixed, replaced, secured and beautified by him. Steve’s thoroughness, expertise, fair pricing and timeliness is greatly appreciated. We no longer put up with things that don’t work, fit or look good because we call Steve and he makes it right.

I contacted The Wood Connection to inquire about about a simple cabinet modification and was told it was basically not in their scope of work which was fine and referred me to Richard’s Residential Repair.
The issue I had was that Richard’s Residential Repair is basically a handy man service and wanted to charge me a «consultation fee» and then wanted to draw up CAD drawings and charge a fee for that as well. Then the work was going to be completed by The Wood Connection and they would bill me for the actual cabinet modification and then he would bill me again for the installation. All this to add a fixed shelf to en existing TV cabinet to accomodate the newer flat panel TV’s versus the old projection screen TV’s.
3 Bills for one simple projects is outragious. It seems and smells like a racquet to me to get the price up and involve a middle man that is not neecessary. I would not use him for any future project or recommend him based on this experience.
