A pretty little shop on Los Al Blvd — I went in this afternoon and browsed, and found many beautiful indulgences. If you have ever been to Antique Row in Bakersfield(I think it’s on 6th St), this shop is similar in style, except with clothing, etc. Love the shirts and jewelry, and was very close to buying this delicious hand balm(maybe on my next trip). Little books, little boxes, soaps — great place for gifts, even if you are gifting yourself.(And I just found out there is an Oodles in Seal Beach!)

Oodles is a woman’s boutique and the sign out front warns«For the Gals»(or «For Us Gals» or some such crapola). It’s protected by an anti-machismo, estrogen-enriched death ray that will instantly vaporize any sports-bar loving man unless that man is looking for a gift for his lover or wife, or both. The place oozes femininity and will emasculate all Joes who dare enter without loving intentions. That being said, this is a crowded little shop stuffed full of lacy, frilly things, nice clothes, «thought» books, flower vases, jewelry, candles, soaps, and a gazillion other gift items that say«I love you» to whoever is fortunate enough to receive them. I couldn’t help myself and I picked a little book on «Friends» for my ex since he’s buying dinner tonight. It’ll be worth his while unless someone finds out. They even gift-wrapped it and I’m sure he’s going to blush when he sees how cute and sexy the package looks(the gift package, hehe). Of course, he would never have survived this place unless he was shopping for his wife or a little something for his gorgeous ex. Not even his F-16 could protect him from Oodles’ powerful death ray. Oodles abuts the Shenandoah restaurant so if you have a few moments before dining or time afterward, I’m sure you can find something small and intimate in here to present to your lover that says«I love you». Too many people have problems saying this often enough but a thoughtful little gift can work wonders when words fail. It might even get you a decadently delicious dinner with your ex. And we can all use a little more love in our lives, can’t we?
