Best Sushi Place on Long Island in my opinion. Not very big so there is usually a wait if you go here during peak hours, especially during the summer. Service is usually very good and the food is always fresh.

By far the best and most authentic(Hide is Japanese) sashimi and sushi on the island. Love the staff too. Consistently fresh and excellent

We LOVE this place in Long Beach. Our go-to spot for date nights. I highly recommend the spicy oysters and the ‘Jungle Roll’!

Love this spot. It is busy, great service, they rock and roll. Family run and when you sit down to eat, you are family too. great food and choices. The work really hard and are always busy when I go there… they do it right.

Best sushi I have had anywhere on the planet. A must try place. The only two down sides are long wait weekends after 7:00 and tables are very close together. Not the place for private conversation.

Decided to head over after a lack luster experience at another restaurant. Definitely the best decision we could have made. Sushi was extremely fresh and the rolls were fantastic. My new go to when I’m in LB. Awesome service, great people and kick ass food.

Went for the first time last night after good reviews from friends and we were not disappointed. It’s a cozy restaurant with tight seating, but service was good. We sat around waiting for our food and as soon as the hostess saw this, she confirmed with chefs of the status and let us know. Hot tea was refilled quickly as with water. Sushi itself was fresh. Spicy tuna rolls was a surprise dish… not with the usual sricha hot sauce mayo combo, but drizzled with sesame oil and chili oil. Delicious. Also had yellow tail(hamachi) rolls — and dragon rolls. Never fell apart and fresh. So glad we had finally found a stable sushi place nearby.

I just love this place and wish it were closer to me. Sure this place serves up some fresh sushi/sashimi and tasty rolls at a reasonable price, but what gets me is the service and how kid friendly it is. We brought our two young kids to this place for an early dinner to avoid the crowd. It was still fairly busy with no lines though. We sat down and ordered several rolls, sashimi, and yakisoba. Our food came promptly and everything was delicious and fresh. The waitresses and especially one of the owners(grandma-type) were so friendly and kept our kids entertained the whole time. The owner even had training chopsticks held together with rubberband and pocky sticks when the kids finished their food. Great food with great service that made you feel like part of a family. What a contrast to the popular Long Island sushi restaurant(with several branches) that serves up great sushi but has very impersonal service and no high chairs.

Typcial Japanese spot in LB. Nothing fancy, just your standard fair. I had the usual sashimi and plum wine. It was decent with the typical varieties of salmon, yellowtail(which is the absolute worst fish!!!) mackerel, tune, imitation crab and cucumbers. I finally has a bonsai which is a mix of plum wine and sake together, I found it to be win in my opinion, its like a seer plum wine with the slight bitterness of sake at the end. From the outside this place isn’t much, there re a lot of restaurants on this strip and Nagahama does little to stand out, in fact there is another Japanese and then another Asian fusion place within a walking distance. My friend invited me here and that was the only reason I went. IT wasn’t horrible in any regard but just ordinary, pleasant staff, ample seating. There is parking in the middle of the strip so all you have to do is walk across the street(and the parking is freeeee). Overall? Standard fare, and okay if you live in the area not really worth the 30 minute drive for me.

Been going here for years love the food but the service, the food and the courtesy seem to lake. Each time the price changes and the waitress and waiters scream there orders in ur ear as ur eating. They need a service window or area. Spent $ 175 for 2 people and so not pleased

This is our goto sushi place in Long Beach, the food is good and the service is good as well. My fiancé loves all of there special roles and I love the food as well. We order delivery more then we actually goto the location and usually they deliver within 45 minutes which I find to be the average time in long beach. I would recommend this place to people looking for good sushi in Long Beach.

Love the sushi here. It’s one of the best on Long Island. The No Name roll is my all time favorite but the dragon roll is pretty awesome too. As a matter of fact, I haven’t had bad sushi there. It has all been great. The other day, we decided not to order sushi. So we had miso black cod, dumplings, rock shrimp tempura and some other dishes. Everything was suburb.

Gave them another try. Upped review by half star(no half stars so pretend there are 2.5 stars above). Decided to refrain from eating the mussels this time around and fortunately I did not get sick. Raw fish was fresh and the rolls were«light»(in a good way). Tuna tataki was amazing. Place is hot. When I asked server why it was so warm in the place I was told«owner cheap.» Wonder where else«owner» is cutting corners. A place that serves RAWFISH should be comfortable and cool. Place is also tired looking and a bit dirty in table areas. Still not sure why this place still has a «buzz.»

My 4 friends and I came to this locally known spot on a Sunday night. Service — slow. But to give them some credit — it was very busy in there. We ordered 7 rolls, and all of them were delicious and fresh. I like how you can have an option to order a ½ roll on some of the specialty ones. Black dragon was the tables favorite roll including me!

The wait was very long. 2 hours after we ordered, the food finally arrived. I have eaten for years since he opened and the food is great, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. When I approached the owner(who is also the lead sushi chef) I encountered an attitude, instead of an apology.

I’m typically a fan of this establishment and my boyfriend and I are very frequent visitors, but it turns out customer service is not a strong suit of Nagahama’s. Especially to those who order take out. Upon spending $ 60 on a takeout order we noticed several items were missing. This has happened to me on multiple occasions with other restaurants and it’s always no issue, the delivery driver is right back with the left out items. In THIS case I called when I noticed the missing items and the manager mentioned that the delivery driver would turn right around. 20 minutes later no delivery driver so I called back. «I couldn’t get ahold of him,» says the manager and says he’ll try again. At this point we’ve been staring at our food unable to eat it for 45 minutes. Needless to say we haven’t ordered take out from here since and have taken our business elsewhere.

This is my go to sushi place ever since my fiancé and I moved to Long Beach. Their food never fails and is always top notch. They have a two-sided menu of rolls ranging from $ 8-$ 16, depending on the level of complexity, ingredients, etc. involved. All their rolls are always freshly made and of the highest quality ingredients(even when your order take out!). If you’re going on a weekend night — prepare for a 30 minute wait. They do not take reservations and it’s a pretty small place. But definitely worth the wait! If you’re lucky you might be able to grab a seat at the sushi bar and avoid the line for a real table. This is a down-home style Japanese restaurant. If you’re looking for flashy plating, specks of glitter on your rolls, and club music… this is not the place for you. If, however, you want fresh delicious sushi and a warm friendly environment to eat in, then you found your spot! Side note: Their seaweed salad is among the best I’ve ever had, anywhere, ever. Just saying.

This is by far the best sushi place on long island — I have been coming here for over 10 years and the sushi is always delicious, the staff is fantastic and they cater to sushi eaters and cooked food eaters alike. Highly recommended. One tip: don’t do take out — the sushi isn’t very good for some reason.

We came here after a day at the beach because I was so hungry and craving sushi. This place was packed on saturday night and judging from the Unilocal reviews I think they are a very popular joint here in Long beach. There was a cute old lady at the front I am assuming she is the owner, she greeted us with a big smile when she brought us to our table. The food itself was pretty good, we ordered the sashimi deluxe and 3 rolls and the fish was pretty fresh and the rolls were pretty flavorful as well. The price is reasonable here also, however my review is more for their service we received here. My husband ordered diet coke which never came. When he asked the waitress about the coke, she was a bit rude about it, she kept asking us if she was the person we ordered the coke from as if we were accusing her of not bringing us the coke when she wasnt the person taking our drink order, it made me a bit uncomfortable, i dont care who took our order, we werent accusing anyone, we just wanted the coke… Then it took forever for the sushi to come out. I think we waited 20 mins with no food and no one coming to let us know the state of the food. We overheard the old lady in the front speaking japanese to another lady working there, being japanese, my husband asked her politely in japanese how much longer our food will take, instead of letting us know the status of the food, she pretended all of a sudden to not understand japanese and just walked away. It is like a slap to our face. We thought maybe we made a mistake and she is not japanese, but then we heard her speaking in japanese to the other waitress again and we were certain she understands the language. If you are japanese and own a japanese restaurant, do not pretend you dont speak the language when confronted by a japanese customer. There is also a chinese waiter here who is very rude. I guess the business is so good here they dont really care too much about the service. Lucky that i was a little drunk from the wine so I wasnt too upset about my experience lol
