I have a big soft spot for this place since it is where my fiancé proposed, but truthfully, I loved this place even before then. I’ve come 4 or 5 times and it is consistently delicious and impressive. It’s never TOO crowded, so we always have a nice seat on the patio, next to a warm heater with beautiful views of the water. Service has always been spectacular too. Here’s what I recommend: The guacamole(you can get a single or a sampler with 3 different kinds) and the lamb chops. OMG the lamb chops are to die for. It’s listed as an appetizer but it’s always enough food for me, especially after having chips and guac. They also make great bloody marys. The hotel also has a few fire pits along the walkway by the water so you can relax and digest with a view after you eat!

The atmosphere is great and staff is nice but they changed the happy hour menu/options. So sad. This used to be a goto for about 30 of my friends and co workers.

Not going to lie, I don’t really understand why this restaurant has 3 and a half stars!!! It is a beautiful restaurant. Maybe it’s because this restaurant is kind of pricey. I paid $ 20 for a salon salad but it was the MOST delicious melt in my mouth salmon I’ve ever had. Compliments to the chef! The view was great during the day. You can see the Queens Mary right outside. My server was really nice and told me their happy hour started at 3 so of course I had to order more food. I got 3 fish tacos that were equally delicious. This place was relaxing and scenic. Perfect for what I needed after running around long beach all day. I got back to the hotel exhausted and hungry. I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re staying at the hotel. Pros: scenic view, good service, happy hour menu, different deals each day Cons: location, out of the way if you’re not staying at the hotel, can be a bit pricey but worth it(to me) Would I go back? Absolutely! Tip: Monday happy hour all day at the bar :)

Beautiful restaurant and lounge with amazing views, went on NYE, got seated in the patio, could see the fireworks and lighted Queen Mary throughout the entire dinner, so beautiful and romantic. NYE prix fixe menu, at a whopping $ 180 per person, the food was quite disappointing to be honest. Sure they had nice selections and champagne flowing, but it was still probably one of the worst expensive meals I have ever had. There were good stuffs on the menu, party favors, service was great and attentive, ambience and atmosphere were energetic and fun with live band playing. The problem was the food, they tasted very bad for the price they charged! Mushroom soup with scallops was the best compare to other dishes, but it was still not that good. My second course shrimp cocktail was a joke, I think I can make better shrimps than that. Lobster tail was one of the biggest I have ever seen. It was stuffed with jumbo lump crab and shrimps, but the lobster was hard and chewy, the stuffings tasted so creamy, but no flavors at all, in order to eat more of it because it was still a lobster tail, I had to put on lots of hot sauce, what a waste of huge lobster tail, yikes… Hubby had lamb for second course, filet as main. Lamb was so dry and bland. First filet came out medium well, he asked for rare plus, of course had to send it back. The second one was a good rare plus, he liked it alright, it was tender but not flavorful enough for him. But I think his filet was definitely better than my lobster tail. Dessert was chocolate cheesecake, a beautiful presentation, but the dessert was cold and hard, so bad. Our NYE dinner cost over $ 500, we got amazing views and firework shows, but the food was SO bad, it was unbelievable! Don’t think we will ever be back for meals, once is enough, I don’t care how good the views are, the food was completely unacceptable for how much they charged! At least the lounge is good for drinking and hanging out, or late night Hookah at the restaurant is fun too. So we might try that again sometime.

Let me start by saying hotel is amazing with amazing views and wonderfully comfortable bed! Now to the restaurant which very nice great view good food! My complaint is on service and greediness of the current manager! Our group did an entire hotel take over for New Years Eve and had a dinner reservation @ 6:30 for 16 people. At last minute 5 additional people wanted join our table! All the men in our group politely asked to add another table and we were sternly told fully booked and no other tables could be added. We made the best of the night by opting to sit on the patio and enjoy amazing views and the jazz band… upon finishing our dinner at 9:15TWENTYTABLESREMAINEDEMPTY! To include the 8 person round table that sat right next to the table we had our other 14 guests at!

Had our Christmas party here tonight. So overpriced. The food wasn’t bad, just not worth the $ 45.00/plate average. Seems unkept, the bathroom ran out of toilet paper when it wasn’t that busy.

Celebrated 40th bday recently poolside at the Maya Hotel and then we had reservations for dinner for 20 at Fuego. The hotel itself was great. Location and views were perfect. The restaurant? If it wasn’t for the views and the fact I was intoxicated, I would have refuted the bill. I have never been so embarrassed as I was that night — most of my guests dinners were either undercooked or underwhelming. Huge disappointment — $ 2,000 bill for food and drinks for entire day. Expensive lesson. My friends who stayed the night had breakfast at Fuego had an even more memorable time. Eggs Benedict was poor and sent back twice. Server didn’t understand that it shouldn’t be lumpy. 3rd time wasn’t a charm — friend found a piece of metal like the head of a screw in the meal. Meal was comped by the waitress. Needless to say, they will not be coming back. Great place to have drinks and spend the day by the pool(don’t order food). Hotel rooms were great.

OK, so why does this place only have three and a half stars? I’ll tell you. The Hotel Maya is not within walking distance to any other restaurant other than the equally high priced Reef down the road. So if you’re staying at this hotel, and it’s been a long day, and you don’t want to get in your car to take the 20 minute drive to downtown Long Beach for something cheaper, you’re pretty much stuck here with their 30 to 50 dollar entrees. That being said, if you do decide to come here, and you’re OK with the prices, I think you’re in for a treat. Our server was extremely accommodating. She even got all the other servers to write a list of their favorite local spots for us to check out. The bread and oil dipping cup they give to start off, may have been my favorite part. Yes, the free, warm bread, and olive oil with some herbs was my favorite part. It was freaking delicious. My wife is Pinteresting«olive oil bread dip appetizer recipe» as we speak. We shared an appetizer. Got the seafood crepes. Freaking delicious man, just get them. I really don’t think anyone needs to eat an entire entrée from here for themselves. It’s just a lot of food. Finish off with the creamy flautas for dessert, and bring it back up to your room along with 3 drinks in plastic cups and have some fun with your mate. Cheers to that!

I wouldn’t come back to this restaurant… We got there and got seated right away with our reservations. It seems pretty empty that night with no more than 10 tables being used on the outside patio. Its a nice restaurant with a nice ocean view. They had a live singer playing some good music. Food wasn’t all that great for the price… Ordered Filet Mignon Medium well cooked and I got it well done… Service was slow and restaurant was pretty empty that night… Took me about 50 minutes to get my Filet Mignon… and when the waiter told me why it was taking so long he said«it usually takes longer to cook it the way that you ordered it» and in my head I was like ok? How long does it take to cook a Medium-Well Filet Mignon? and to top it off when I got it, the meat was cooked Well Done… I go ahead and ask for steak sauce and almost another 10 minutes passed by before I got it. Other than the view, I don’t think this restaurant is worth coming back to.

Before going to Fuego, I did not read any reviews on Unilocal,so this is totally unbiased and based on my first time experience. I came here for lunch today with a friend, just to catch up with life, eat, and have a good time. Which we did. With validation, our parking only cost $ 2. And our waitress made sure to ask us for our parking ticket to validate before we left. Our waitress was so nice! And very accommodating. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by workers and was immediately seated. It was nice, they were friendly and we felt welcome. Being my first time, the view and place is amazing. Especially going during today’s hot weather, just viewing the harbor and sitting outdoors with the breeze was nice. The place is really pretty! We immediately received our menus and was asked for our drink orders. Our waitress always checked up on us to see if we ready to order our appetizers and entrees and took care of us the entire time. The only time we ever had to look for her was when we asked her to take a photo of us haha. And she was more than happy to. I absolutely love food and I’m not a picky eater. We ordered the islander ceviche which tasted like poke. We enjoyed eating it with the plantain chips. My friend ordered the chicken lime fuego enchilada and I had the ahi tuna salad. We both thought they were delicious. Our waitress always made sure our glasses were full and would make sure that everything was okay. The ambience, view, setting, and experience was 5 stars. The only reason why Id have to take off one star is because there were 2 flies that kept hovering around us and our food. But then again, it was outdoor seating. Hope your experience at Fuego will be just as nice as ours was!

I came here for my Aunt’s 60th birthday brunch. My other relatives had raved about this place so I was really excited. The atmosphere of this place is really nice of course. I expected that. The service was good, I was offered a mimosa right after I sat down. The price for drinks is kinda ridiculous though, even if it is endless for brunch. The cold foods were ok. I got some salami, heirloom tomatoes and mozzarella, charred asparagus, asparagus wrapped in smoked salmon, a pepperoncini, mahi mahi coconut ceviche and corn chips. The smoked salmon tasted kinda off truthfully might of been because it was so hot out and it might have been siting out for a while, which isn’t good. The ceviche was amazing though, best part of my plate. The fish was meaty and tender and it was rich with coconut milk, but had a spice that cut right through it. Next I got the tacos because a lot of people from my table were coming back with them and saying that the steak ones were the best. I went over to the taco guy and noticed he was frying up some fatty salmon on the griddle so I decided to get a freshly cooked salmon taco and a steak taco. Topped it with cilantro, onions, lettuce, cheese and salsa and headed back to my table. I ate the salmon taco first and it was exactly as I imagined. Yummy, fall apart, fatty salmon with a nice kick of spicy salsa. The steak was good too, tender and juicy. For the main course I went over to the hot food. I just got some steak and crispy looking hash browns. I’m a steak and potatoes kinda person. The steak was pretty tender and the hash browns had a crispy top and a soft inside. By this time I was getting full so I decided to share dessert with my Mom. My Mom got flan and a cream puff for dessert. The dessert display was super indulgent and beautiful with a variety of desserts, but mostly cake. The flan was disappointing, it just tasted flat. We had to add the cream from the over the top double stuffed cream puff to the flan for it to taste alright. I also tried a super mini chocolate cake that my Uncle got, he loves chocolate. It was probably the best dessert there. Rich and moist cake perfection. For my Aunt’s birthday my other Aunt brought a beautiful rose topped red velvet cake from another bakery and the staff was alright with her bringing it in, which was nice of them. The reason why I give this place three stars though is I was absolutely miserable here more than half of the time. It was extremely hot. We had umbrellas, but they didn’t exactly cover all of us. They really need fans here or something. My cousins and I even sat down in a little patio with sofa’s, but it was still really bad. I just didn’t exactly enjoy this place.

I came here after my bridal shower to have drinks and appetizers with some friends. It was such a nice day that we sat outside in the patio. We enjoyed the weather and the pretty view. We ordered some appetizers(ceviche, mac and cheese, guacamole) and some drinks. The coconut mojito is to die for! It’s not on the menu but they can make it for you alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Delish! All of the food was tasty and the portions were large enough to share. The tortilla chips were free flowing and they kept refilling the baskets for us. The service was good because they were super attentive and they were constantly following up with us. They also were able to accommodate our requests such as the coconut mojito! This is such a super cute spot for a date! Some of my friends were going to bring their significant others here for«date night» next time around. The ambiance is great because it’s clean, nice, and the view is amazing. It’s probably one of the hidden gems of Long Beach. If one of my friends didn’t bring me here I would have never guessed to come here since it’s rare for me to go to a hotel in SoCal since I grew up in the area. They validate parking if you dine here which is great! I think I paid $ 2 for parking which beats almost any meter parking in the Bay Area even. The price of the appetizers are a little on the higher end, like the ceviche sampler. But I would say it’s worth it because it is tasty and the ambiance beats a lot of other restaurants. I’d be impressed if someone took me on a date here.

Great location, ambiance, and service! However, the food could have been better. Located in Hotel Maaya(owned by Doubletree), the restaurant is beautifully decorated. In fact, the whole hotel is. It was definitely not what I was expecting, considering it’s in Long Beach and near the Queen Mary, which is a historic area. However, walking into the hotel and restaurant, I felt as if I were in an eclectic hipster city. I came on a Friday morning for breakfast around 10am and there were only a few other parties dining in the restaurant. This meant that we got to choose an oceanfront table with a gorgeous view. Our waiter was extremely friendly, and attentive. The food itself was mediocre. I ordered the eggs benedict and was not that impressed. There was just something about the sauce and freshness of the ingredients that made it sub par. For $ 20, it wasn’t cheap and did not meet my expectations. I’ll likely give this restaurant another shot, purely because I love the outdoor seating area. They have a few cabanas and a huge fit pit, which probably makes it a great spot at night. There is also a full bar inside the restaurant! Parking: The hotel has a parking lot, which was $ 2(max 4 hours) with restaurant validation.

Beautiful ocean view with live band. awesome! For breakfast they have the glass window closed but when its brunch, they have it wide open. Brunch serves you the buffet of freshly made tacos, cheese plate, smoked salmon treats, kale salad, fruits, and a small table of dessert! Each buffet also comes with a entrée of your choice. They have steak, salmon, egg benedict, sandwich, etc to name a few of the entrees! Its honestly BEST to get there early. I’ve noticed how later on you’ll see small flies roaming around the buffet section! –_– All this will get you FULL — trust me! $ 41 pp for the brunch buffet & with bottomless mimosas its $ 11 add. :) Great vibe, Great service, Great food, and Great view all in one!

Beautiful location and venue, Great service, Ahi tuna salad… Tuna was tough unfortunately and especially for the price but the salad greens were great. Great place for an event. I bet very difficult to find or drive as roads are a mess and this is a trucking area and they run very fast. Signage is horrible in this area.

Ten cuidado con el FUEGO Ten cuidado con el FUEGO Ten cuidado con el FUEGO (It’ll burn you) Ten cuidado con el FUEGO Beamers and Impala’s Thugs and them ballers Ain’t nothin’ safe When them things start Jiga jiga jiga jiga jiga I REALLYLIKEFUEGO! I’ve walked through this restaurant before and saw the food they had to offer and it looked GOOD! But its hotel food so how good can it really be? If you’re a tourist or taking a stay-cation your pretty much a captive audience because there is REALLYNOTHINGCLOSE by except The Reef, Queen Mary and DTLB. This place is SUPERDUPERNICE! It overlooks the water and has an AAAAA-MAZING view of DTLB and the Queen Mary. At night it’s even BETTER with all the lights. During the day you can see boats and other water craft coming and going which is SOOORELAXING to watch! I wasn’t just here for dinner I was here for a FREETEQUILLASAMPLING! WOOHOO! I sent a message to a Unilocal Bud Amber to see if she would join me for dinner and so I wouldn’t get STUPIDWASTEDALONE! I’m a light weight on a GOODDAY and with WINE so tequila was A-WHOLE-NOTHER story! We met at FUEGO. It is ALWAYSNICE meeting other UnilocalER’s and Amber was SOOOOFRICKINREFRESHING, and NORMAL! You can NEVER be too sure but I have NEVER had any problems. THANKGOD! We decided to do our tequila sampling first and then soak it up with din-din. The sampling guy was UBERKNOWLEDGEABLE and took us through the history of Don Julio. And like wine it has different taste depending on what kind you get. Also like Champagne you can’t call it Tequila if it is not from the region of Tequila which is 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara, and in the highlands(Los Altos) of the north western Mexican state of Jalisco. Also another interesting fact is that it is made in oak barrels much like WINEEEE! We got a tasting sheet which had a section for each of the tequila taste and also had the flavors we would taste in each! As our Tequila EXPERRT went through the history and how each one was made he poured us a smig to sample. We actually asked to have less then he gave the others because we are both light weights. Even with the smig we had we both got a bit buzzed and once our tasting was over we sat and ordered WATER, TEA and DINNER! The menu for dinner was OUTSTANDING and EVERYTHINGLOOKEDGOOD! So we did what any SMART Unilocal’ers would do an ordered three entrees and an appetizer to share! HAHA! So we got the crab cakes which were jumbo lump crab meat, lemon aioli and sweet cucumber relish and it was DELISH! I especially LOVED the lemon and cucumber relish it came with. Then we ordered the Ropa Vieja which is shredded Cuban style braised flank steak, black bean purée, fried corn tortillas cabbage jalapeño cilantro slaw, caramelized plantains(nanas yuck) and agave cream sauce and steamed white rice. It was BOMB, BOMB, BOMB, BOMB, BOMB-A-LICIOUS! And SOOOOOFRICKINFLAVORFUL! We also ordered the seafood crepas which was jumbo lump crab meat, rock shrimp, roasted poblano sauce, black bean corn relish and steamed white rice. This was my first thing I tasted after the appitizer and BAM! TOTHEFACE! It was GREAT! HUGE pieces of crab and NICESIZE shrimp I could see with the necked eye and NOT the Hubble telescope! YES! I pretty much INHALED it! SUPERDUPERDELISH and YUM, YUMYUMMY! The third dish we ordered was a… let’s try it anyway sort of choice. I was trying to find out what type of ‘shrooms came on it… not that it really mattered. So we got the 8oz filet mignon which was coffee rubbed, ancho chili sauce, ‘shroom ragout, sweet potato purée and asparagus. This one we had cut in half and boxed because we could not eat anymore. The next day I heated it and OMGSLAMMIN and JAMMIN! We got the meat cooked medium which means it would NOT be moo’in at me which is PARAMOUNT to me eating it! It was ONPOINT. So SUPERJUICY and SCRUMP-DILLY-UTIOUS! The sweet potato purée was YUMMY and didn’t have too much sugar in it making REALLYGOOD! The asparagus was GREAT and COOKPERFECTLY! LOVEDTHEENTIREDISH! ALLTHEFOOD was JAMMIN and so was the service and I will be back. You should FO-SHO try this place out if you’re in the mood for YUMMY taste of Mexico, Latin America and South America!

I wanna be contigo y live contigo y dance contigo y quiero comer en Fuego!?! Ok calm down there Enrique no dance floor here to get jiggy with it, but they do have amazing food with a romantic view by the sea! The restaurant is located inside the Maya Hotel and overlooks the Port of Long Beach. This is a perfect place to romance the ladies or just have a nice scenic happy hour. We checked in at the hotel Maya on Thursday and the happy hour at the Fuego restaurant was 50% off all appetizers so we had to head over yo. Most of the seating outdoors overlooks the water so you could not ask for anything better. Every item we ordered was amazing, let’s break it down yo!?! ~~~What we ordered?!?~~~ Queso Fundido — it comes with dipping bread, I’ve never tasted cheese so good and for us cheese lovers it was orgasmic good!?! Corn Sopes — look at the picture because a picture really is worth a thousand words when it came to these sopes. Kale Salad — wifey ordered this, she liked it, I don’t touch green unless it’s going in my wallet!?! Argentinian Skirt Steak Skewers — no joke, these skirt steak skewers were Brazilian Steakhouse quality!!! Spicy Shrimp Chipotle Flatbread — the sauce on this is to die for, a perfect lite bite to start off your meal! ~~~~~~ I really had no complaints about this place from the food, the service, and of course the view. Most of the items we got were 50% off because of the happy hour which runs from 2−6pm so we got quite a deal, but the food was so good I would not mind paying the full price. So if you’re in the area looking for a date spot trying to impress your main chick, you need to check out Fuego Restaurant located at the Maya Hotel.
