Unfortunately this isn’t the Brite Spot anymore. Its Baja… sometihng. I’m sad. I used to order lunch from there almost every day. Their Molcajete was amazing.

I have eaten at the Brite Spot dozens of times and have never had a bad experience. The ingredients are fresh and delicious, the service is always fantastic and they even make fresh juices, which I always order.

The chips and SALSA is booomb. Chips are thin, light, and crispy. The salsa is homemade with nice little chunks and a small kick of heat, but definitely a good amount for the normal taste buds. I come here for the Wet Burrito since they serve generous portions of meat inside the burrito, and smother it all over like a big warm blanket. Usually gotta get the burrito in 2 different settings because I like to gorge myself on the chips and salsa! Good local spot and its open late too!

My sister swears about this place being good but I have something different to say! I ordered a pretty decent order for delivery…2 orders of asada, rice & beans, 2 orders of taquitos, rice & beans, 1 asada wet burrito &1 ckn taco rice & beans. Roughly $ 60.00 worth! The flavor was ok, I mean not that bad but ALL the food was COLD! I HADTOHEATEVERYMEALUPINTHEMICRO! Are you serious? I live like 8 blocks from the place & they swear they delivered the food right when it was finished cooking! I doubt that. I agree with the other review… Go down the street on Anaheim, WAY better food!

After a dance session at the world famous Homeland Culture Center, my friends and I like to go to Brite Spot. The food is decent, the service is good, and it’s open late so a lot of dancers come here Monday nights. I had three tacos; one lengua; two asada. They were delicious. A friend of mine had asada sopes which looked a lot more appetizing(and heavier) than my tacos. Maybe next time I’ll have a couple of those. My bf had a burrito. Everyone naturally enjoys their meal here. It’s good to have a decent Mexican restaurant available to hang out with friends after Homeland.

Taqueria by day, Fiesta party by night! Aiiyiyiyiiii. Came here after I arrived from SJ late night around 11pm on a weekday & not much was open. Lots of people seated at the bar & it was really loud & seemed like they wre all having a drunk ball! I had the wet carne asada burrito. It was okay, but they put wayy too much chopped onions, which overpowered the taste. Bf had the carne asada fries which were also okay & greasy. I’ve definitely had much more delicious carne asada fries elsewhere. The food also took a really long time to come out to us. I wouldn’t come here again unless nothing else is open late night.

Came here for a Carne asada plate and was very sad when I discovered how dry it was, even with the beans and lime. Service was great, I did a to go though. Ill have to come back and try something else. The burritos looked good.

I order here regularly and always seem to have problems when it comes to delivery. I just made an order this evening, around $ 50 and got the wrong order. When I called back to get it fixed, I was placed on hold for over 15 minutes… The girl was confused and it seemed they had kids managing the store. They obviously don’t know a thing about customer service and the owners nephew told me he’s so successful that my business obviously didn’t matter. In the end they told me it would be another hour just to fix the order… Mind u this is after 15 – 20 minutes of waiting on hold… I will never order from here again! They lost a good customer and I will be sure to let others know there are plenty of other good Mexican restaurants around. Good Luck to those who are unaware…

We ran out of time again so we ended up at this local Mexican place. It is a small place but the food is decent and priced right. It is mostly for locals since there are so many Mexican place to you can here. The food were pretty good and authentic so that part you can expect. I would go back if we are lazy and just want to grab a bit to eat locally.

I wasn’t sure how to write this — so I’ll just say that the server at this restaurant makes me to feel very unwelcome(she is about 5’7″, has a large bust, and is perhaps not wanting people from all walks of life in her restaurant). Here is how it goes when I go in — and this has happened several times in the last year. me: hello server: can i help you? me: for here please server: ok, we also do to-go [gestures towards the door] I seat myself. The server eventually comes over to the table. server: was this for here or to-go? [server recognizes me and knows I get it for here] (I am not making this up folks; and she does this every time, even when they are not busy. As I was saying, she does a great job of letting me know I am unwelcome.) me: for here, I’ll have the molcajete [as is the custom] server: [leaves table] time passes… other tables get their food, the server laughs and jokes with them and is friendly, with them. Eventually I get my food, it is good, the bad service continues and I leave feeling full and unwelcome. I do not speak Spanish very well, but this shouldn’t be a good enough reason to treat a customer like this. If I didn’t have good reason to come back here, I never would. So why the need to come back? Because my ex-girlfriend and I used to come here a lot, she enjoyed the food and it made her happy. I am single now and sometimes I miss her an awful lot — eating the sort of food that she liked reminds me of her and makes me miss her less(she lives far away now). I like to come here for that reason, and that reason alone. When I came here with her, she would order for us in spanish and the service was fine, pleasant even. Brite Spot people — please open up a gringo friendly establishment, we like your food, your music,(your women), we have a lot in common but we don’t speak spanish so well — please still feed me tacos without being mean.

I came here one night after a hardcore night of clubbing with my girls, and I was not impressed. This place looked like a pigsty when we walked in, smelled pretty bad and their music was blasting so loud I think it may have temporarily damaged our eardrums. The whole ambiance in here was just annoying, I don’t know why. Their food was less than alright, a bit pricy for what it is. I was obviously annoyed and miserable the entire time I was here, so our server gave us free sodas on the house. Still, the free drinks didn’t make up for my experience. It takes a whole lot of dirty and annoying for me to give a place 1 star. Will not return!

This place holds a lot of nostalgia for me because way back in the day when I dormed at Cal. State Univ. Long Beach, I would come here a lot with the girlfriend to eat, listen to the great music from the juke box and flirt with the waitresses. lol Fast forward 16 years later and I’m still coming back, even though I live 20 miles away now. So why does this 49er keep coming back even though he’s currently surrounded by 150 million Mexican places to eat where he currently lives??? The WET carne asada burrito!!! That’s why. I mean, this thing is a splash of tasty goodness on my taste buds. Ok, I don’t want to make it sound like a Ruth Criss Ribeye that’s mouth-watering because it’s cooked at 1,800 degrees F because it’s not. But still, it’s a pretty damn good burrito. Honestly, I’ve only ordered like 3 things here. This one item is my favorite here. I can’t really comment on the rest of the menu. So when I’ve had a night of crazy debauchery with my old college buddies or my primos who cruise around in their lowered ’64 Impalas and I’m remotely close to the LBC… I grab the steering wheel and FORCE them to come over to Brite Spot. We wave to 5.0 as we drive by them. For some reason we see them almost every time we cruise over there. I love the food here(ok, the 3 items I’ve had here). And I love the hole-in-the-wall, I’m back en Mexico ambiance. The service, though, leaves little to be desired. Sometimes it’s great and sometimes it just flat out sucks my left ear lobe! Oh well, that’s not going to keep me from coming here. The place is small enough where the servers cannot escape me if I need them… muuaahhhhhaahhhaaa. Now pass me a damn Dos Equis, a lime, my Wet burrito and thrown on El Jefe Vicente Fernandez on the damn jukebox so I can get my cogently, permeatingly satisfying GRUBON!!! I promise on my next trip I’ll try something new… no, really.

Decided to finally try this place tonight. Ordered the Menudo. Worst menudo i have ever ordered. If i would’ve actually dined in, I would have returned what i got. When i got home and poured my menudo out i was not satisfied. First of all my 32. oz cup had 5 pieces of bone. There were also these 3 – 5 inch slimy pieces. Its was disgusting. I tried to still eat it. it was tasteless. I understand Menudo is tough to top. But nothing about my menudo was appetizing. Not sure if I would go back and try anything else. My boyfriend ordered Chicken Caldo and it was so so.

1. Are you drunk? If yes #2. If no, skip to #3. 2. EATHERE. 3. Are you the designated driver? If yes #4. If no, skip to #5. 4. EATHERE… but be careful, this food is intended for the drunkies so «enjoy» in moderation only. 5. Is it after 11pm? If yes #4. If no, skip to #6. 6. What the hell are you doing here then? Get your sober, earlybird ass over to Hole Mole or La Taqueria or Los Compadres — somewhere with the good stuff. **Inspiration from one of my fave three line reviews ever — Evan G’s review of Brite Spot

Gosh I really love this place. I found it a couple months ago, and am impressed. They have great salsa(spicy), great guacamole, and chips, which is a deal-breaker for me. On top of that, breakfasts are under $ 5, their machaca is very good, and so is their carnitas. Today, at lunch, I had Carne en es Jugo, which was meat and beans in a spicy green sauce, with rice and beans. GODITWASSOGOODANDSMOKY/SPICY! Horray for Brite Spot!

For some odd reason it’s a lot harder than you might think to find really good Mexican food in Long Beach, especially places that are open late. Brite Spot however, is a place that delivers on this request. I heard that there are multiple locations for this restaurant, but this one is the one that I’ve been patronizing. I discovered them a couple of months ago on what almost turned out to be a fruitless late night food run; I have been enjoying the grub here since. Service is never a problem. Chips and salsa are always served immediately and my order is always taken as soon as I’m ready. The menu is, surprisingly, quite extensive. When you see the«hole in the wall» façade of the place as you approach, you wouldn’t think that there would be a whole lot of variety when it comes to the food, but the menu changes that thought in an instant. It usually takes me 6 or 7 minutes to decide what to get just because there’s so much to consider. Everything that I’ve ordered, from the tacos to things such as mole poblano con pollo, has been pretty good. Breakfast is nothing to scoff at either. In my opinion, the value is pretty good as I have always left satisfied while only spending under $ 20 on every visit so far. This is by far not the best Mexican food I have had, but it is definitely a very noteworthy establishment, especially for a place that’s open as late as it is. When I’m hungry late at night, I know that I can always satisfy my hunger by coming here. So if you’re passing by here, I strongly recommend giving it a try, even more so if it’s a late hour.

Iordered a fish burrito and when the lady told me how muchit was, my eyes almost bulged. But then I got my order and the thing actually«thudded» on top of the counter. That thing was heavy! Well, no wonder! It had rice and beans and cheese and chili sauce in it like a regular burrito. Also, there was a bag of chips and a couple of salsa containers in there too! I’ve never had that before. At first bite, it was like having seafood in a tomato based soup. Really good. It was good and it was heavy. I wasn’t in the mood for heavy at that time though. That’s why I ordered fish burrito, thinking it would be the usual beer battered fillet with shredded lettuce and a light white sauce. Great to share with somebody that’s for sure! Chips — 5 Stars! Salsa — 2 Stars

Ambiance: 3 Food: 5 Service: 5 Value: 4 I get the carnitas everytime. This is what carnitas should be like! FRIED, tender pieces of pork, not too fatty, but just enough fat for that delicious flavor. Refried beans, out of this world. Creamy and smooth, and full of flavor. Rice. LOVEIT, seasoned nicely, not too dry, and no veggies in it. Flour tortillas. Basic, not sure if homemade, but I think they are. Chips. BEST, always warm and lightly salted. Salsa, extraordinary full of flavor, and can’t be beat. Love the $ 1 tacos when I’m on a budget. You cannot get better carnitas anywhere, no place compares.
