Steak ‘n Shake

This place is very dirty. Paper on dining room floor, fries on floor. The bathroom is disgusting. Dirty sinks and toilets and the stench! Also, no paper towels in women’s restroom. Was going to dine in but decided after I was seated and looked around, my car would be more sanitary. Absolutely appalling appearance!

Somebody told me this was the In & Out of Michigan… Somebody lied. I was very disappointed in my sloppy burger ands it’s poor presentation. Birthday shake was good though…

I’m used to going to the other Steak ‘n Shake locations in the area and I hadn’t been to this one in a while. It was terrible. Don’t plan on coming without a whole bottle of Purell. It was very very dirty. The food wasn’t anything like the other locations and service was bad. We won’t be returning to this location.

This service is worse than the korean war. You will waste more time here than the Americans did fighting each other in the Civil War. I have reason to believe the waitresses are racist. I have to wait around 15 – 20 minutes just to have a waitress come up to me and scowl while asking what I want to drink. But when a waitress waits on a table of black people they get served immediately. I am actually typing this review while waiting for my bill, which currently I have been waiting 20 minutes just to recieve my bill. This is outrageous. The food is extremely cheap which is why I come here. This is the worst service I’ve ever recieved, and I’ve called customer support on multiple occasions for Brighthouse. Not to mention, the overflow of weeaboos that hangout here. They dress in capes and stuff and just hangout in the corner talking about Star Wars the whole time.
At one moment I noticed a man walk into Steak and Shake wearing a trench coat. Upon initial assessment I noticed a katana-​like object hanging out of his trench coat. I have reason to be believe he is the head of the weeaboos, because he was also doing Naruto like hand motions, while whispering ninja jitsu. I left no less than five minutes later, fearing for my life. Seeing this man has made me realize why the workers here actually hate their life, and why the service is indeed so god awful.

So sad! I have not been here for over a year. Service was slow but that was OK we did not care. But table we sat at and the floor throughout the restaurant was dirty. The shakes were great. The New French Dip was just blah.

Food is not bad. Love the chili cheese fries. The drive through is PAINFULLY slow. ⁶⁄₁₀ times they’ve gotten my order wrong in the drive through as well. I’ve only eaten inside once and the service was so so.

Service was terrible. Waitress never said a word to me making it incredibly awkward. Food was aight doe.

I’ve been here many times and as far as fast food goes this is a great choice. The burgers are good and the shakes are great. Plus if you have coupons you can get great deals.
As many others have said the service here is poor at best. Whether it’s busy or empty you can expect to get subpar service. The employees move extremely slow, want a refill? Don’t count on it happening without asking. The attitude of pretty much all the employees is «‘the man’ is making me work.» If you need an example of why $ 15 an hour is a terrible idea for fast food workers look no further than this Steak and Shake.
I’m also convinced if you’re white… you’re going to get even worse service.

The food was good but the service was terrible. We waited 10 minutes to be sat even though it was empty. It seemed like there was no one even working there. It took 20 minutes to get our order taken and the waitress was not friendly or welcoming. Our order was wrong even though we were the only people in the restaurant. I’ll never eat there again just because the service.

My husband & I decided to try this place recommended by our son who loves it… went in with no expectations & was pleasantly surprised that although it seemed like a fast food restaurant you had to wait to be seated. We were seated quickly, looked over the menu & about 15 min later the waitress came over. She took our order & didn’t even have to write it down! Food arrived quickly & was all correct! Husband had the double cheeseburger, fries, small chili & strawberry/​banana shake. I had the frisco burger, fries and choco/​vanilla shake. If we would have known the shakes were so huge we would have shared one! All the food tasted amazing! Will be back!

Let me start by saying I love the food. Their steakburgers are really fantastic, and so are their shakes. If I was rating it based on food alone, it would be 4 stars. Their service, however, leaves much to be desired. I see other reviewers mentioning the same thing.
I was in there yesterday, and the place was busy, but not packed. They had plenty of servers available, but everything seemed to be very chaotic and disorganized. One table complained that their order was wrong, and another had to wait about 15 minutes before anyone came to take their order. My table had no ketchup, and the waitress had to grab one from another table (leaving that one with none).
My server was pretty decent, but it took a long time for my meal to arrive. I estimate about 20 minutes or more. My shake did arrive in a timely manner, but it was about ²⁄₃ gone before my food arrived. Food, in general, seemed to be taking a long time getting out of the kitchen to be served to customers.
Corporate, or the franchisee needs to come in and hire new management and kitchen staff. A good manager would get rid of the slackers, organize the place, and bring in people who know what they’re doing.
A manager did come around and ask how things were. To my regret, I didn’t speak up, though in my case, everything was mostly OK except for waiting so long for my meal.
I do like the food and wish there was another location closer to my house, but there isn’t. A total management change would go a long way toward improving this place.

Terrible service. No napkins. No silverware. Food came out before my soft drink. First and last time eating here.

Did you know Steak and Shake has been around since the 1930’s? And it actually started out a a gas station? And it was actually close to bankruptcy back in the early 2000s? Steak and Shake has been thru some stuff let me tell you. But now its famous for its steak burgers and its shakes and its chili made in miscellaneous ways.
Now, as many places as I’ve eaten ate… This is the first place I had a fried egg on a burger. After the Drake concert last year, after midnight, hubby and I stopped here out in boondocks and I ordered one of those. 4 Dollars (They have a 4 dollar menu) with fries, and it was the best thing i had had in weeks! (or so i swore) and i tried to recreate it everywhere i went, i had a egg on my burger at the Basement burger bar, i had an egg when we went to fat burger, i had an egg on my burger at home, NOTHING! So when i had a steak and shake freebie for my birthday last month and we had a date on Friday, we went to steak and shake! and i ordered my FREE Double Steakburger –Add an Egg Please!!. And it was STILL The best damn Burger with egg on it ever! Plus you get flavoring on the fries. and They have some of the The shakes ever. And surprisingly, their taco salads (for 4 dollars) are pretty dang good too. It’s pretty darn good. Im a fannnnnnn!

Mediocre is the best word to describe Steak ‘n Shake, but I guess I don’t mean that in a bad way. It’s just always a weird late night experience with terrible service and a bizarre cast of characters but the food is decent and the prices aren’t bad — especially if you have a stack of coupons.

Literally the worst service I have ever received. I dont know if other steak and shakes are this bad but honestly this location alone has fully convinced me to never go to steak and shake again.

I love Steak n Shake but why does your restroom smell so bad that it makes you want to throw up your dinner?
Our server was great however, she didn’t get any help from any one else there. Not even the manager. We waited a very long time for a shake and fries. When I mean a long time I’m talking about 10−13mins long… at 11:00PM!
When checking out we had to wait for the manager to finish her conversation with a fellow employee before she came over to help us.

This branch is filthy. Tables were left at least 15 minutes before being cleaned despite comments being made to the female manager.
Some of the staff are surly, others downright incompetent, although there are good servers there too.

Your typical Steak ‘n Shake. Food was good but I don’t eat hamburgers (or shakes) that often, so it always is. They usually have coupons in the coupons you get in the mail, too, so keep an eye out for those.
Service was not too good, pretty slow to seat us and I never got a water refill, but oh well.
I’d give this place maybe 2.5÷5 stars, it was decent for the most part.

I admit that I do like Steak ‘n Shake on occasion. My little guy LOVES it, although after two not so great visits to this location, he may rethink his position on the matter.
It did take a while to order, but they were busy. My little guy is a purist and will only have a regular chocolate shake. I wanted to try the salted caramel pretzel flavor. The previous visit, his shake had a strange chemical aftertaste that we ended up sending back and they were able to correct — no explanation…
He ordered the chocolate shake this visit and he even said «I hope it doesn’t taste weird again this time». No such luck — weird chemical taste again. It was remade, and then it was fine — but again the server offered no explanation as to why it turned out that way???
The burgers were fine, I love the Salt & Vinegar seasoning you can order on your fries — although they forgot is this time and had to bring it out to the table.
My shake was fine, no earth shattering flavors, but not bad. I think after two bad shakes we will start going to the Ann Arbor location in the future.

I shake in the winter. I shake in the summer. I eat Steak ‘n Shake whenever I pass it.
I just had one of their $ 4.99 meals, a triple no cheese, loaded and fries and a large chocolate shake. This is one good greasy hamburger and very good taste. Always hot and fresh meat. Their grill has gotten the long standing carbon burnt taste to them almost like a pub burger. I’m not a huge fan of the dental floss type fries. Too thin for me, not much taste.
I generally do drive in. It may take a little longer to get your food but it’s always hot.
The staff here has always greeted me friendly.
