Jess D ad kid we lived in Taylor on Weddel and Crawly. We used to go to the one on Beech Daily. I just loved the big cheese burger with ketchup and pickle. The when I got older I had to have, {they stopped making it,} the Daly burger plate. Had a ½lb burger with grilled onions no bun and fries and slaw. If love to have one now. Tried a few yrs ago on Plymouth Rd to order one, the waitress looked at me like I was from another planet. It was great times.

I personally have never been to Daly’s. However, my husband and his family are from the area and have raved about it since I met them. My father-in-law has been a customer since the 60’s. That being said, I thought it would be a cool gift to get my husband a bottle of the Daly Sauce I have heard so much about for Christmas. The sauce itself was reasonably priced, however shipping was quite high. I decided to go ahead and go for it and spent approximately $ 18 for one bottle of sauce! I placed my order on December 15th. It did not arrive in time for Christmas. In fact, it had still not arrived by the first of the year. I sent an email to the address on the customer service page, as well as the email listed on my PayPal receipt. I did not get a response. You might wonder why I gave them 5 stars after all of the disappointment and difficulty in trying to get one stinking bottle of sauce!!! The reason for my rating is because of the service I received after the fact. I called the restaurant and left a message with the kid who answered the phone. He told me that the person who handles the online order fulfillment was not in but that he would give him my message as soon as he saw him. Within a few hours I got a call back from Scott. He had to leave me a message, in which he apologized and left me his cell number, along with his contact information at the restaurant. I did not get a chance to call him back that evening due to the 2 hour time difference. The next day at work I was getting ready to call him back when he called me on my cell. He was extremely apologetic and stated they had been having difficulty with their online ordering and PayPal. Whether or not that is true, I have no Idea. It’s the customer service and follow through that impressed me the most. He not only UPS’ed my order asap, but he offered to send an order to my father-in-law as well. Not only did he send my original bottle of sauce, he sent 2AND a t-shirt to my husband AND my father-in-law. I work in retail on the management level and I fully understand the importance of providing good customer service. However, it does not always happen. I want to say thank you to Scott, he truly made my experience a positive one in spite of all the adversity. THANKYOU!

I love dalys. They’re a western metro Detroit classic. Get a Daly burger with Daly sauce and thank me later.

It’s been years since I’ve been to Daly’s and enjoyed their food. I really miss their restaurant in Plymouth very much. When you think about, having only one location in Livonia is really sad, but it’s better than none at all. So in an attempt to rekindle old memories from our childhoods, Steve and I decided to stop by the Daly’s in Livonia in the pouring rain this afternoon. I was rather bummed out by the fact they take cash only, rather debit cards. This is a really rare trend in today’s world. I decided to order a Chicken Club Sub, with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayonnaise. This sandwich comes with some delicious cooked chicken, bacon, and ham. Honestly, this sandwich was outstanding and tangy. I decided to have a hot fudge sundae, with whipped cream. This brought back a lot of memories to say the least. Honestly, their vanilla ice cream was so rich in flavor, it just melted in my mouth.

A family favorite. Service and kitchen is always fast, good prices. They have added free wireless for customers. Can’t go wrong with the Daly sauce

The food is good — milkshakes are delicious. Heads up — it is a cash only establishment.

Big fan of Daly!!! Old school drive in with great food. The salad bar is good, cole slaw is awesome! Shakes are good and old fashioned. Never had a bad meal here. Service is good too. Only reason for 4 stars is the«cash only» policy. It’s 2015… You’ve gotta take credit and debit.

I grew up eating at Daly drive in. I find it sad that the Livonia location is all that is left:(As a kid the Plymouth location on the corner of Main St. was our place. I loved looking at the wall of all the states license plates and on a cold night the fire place in the main dining area was great ambiance for a youngster! That being said the quality of food at the soul surviving Livonia, location is what I remember. Still the same love the chili, daly jr burger and good fries. There is also a fresh salad and soup bar. I won’t even mention the delicious shakes and malts! I always get melancholy about my childhood when I dine here but grateful there is still one left. Long live the Daly drive in!

Been going there for well over 20 years and still love this place. Still the same and that in itself is refreshing. I have seen reviews complaining that the don’t do this or that but bottom line is they haven’t changed so those complaints don’t hold water. I recommend this restaurant highly.

I used to eat at Daly as a kid, through my teens, into my 20’s, 30’s…that being said, I haven’t eaten there in years. Why? Well a mean doctor and some stupid crap about cholesterol stopped me from eating a lot of good stuff. I used to go to Daly for breakfast and eat Daly dogs! Ummm… the memories. I happened to stumble across a reference to Daly drive in on the net while doing a little surfing and thought to myself«hey, why not!». So I popped a cholesterol pill and got in the car. Arriving there, the place looked much different than I remember it. I guess it has been a long time. I, of course ordered my old favorite, THEDALYDOG. It was like a trip in a time machine. I flashed back to my late teens… driving my manual transmission van down Plymouth Rd., eating a Daly dog while coming home from a date. The Daly dog is a pure delight, just like it used to be. Times have changed, but the dog is still delicious. My wife and kid had the daly burgers and loved them. The fries were fantastic, perfectly crispy without being overdone. Obviously cooked by a deep fry master. Free refills on pop, this is good. This is a different experience than a typical today type restaurant. It’s worth the trip. Try ‘em out!

This place is a Detroit area icon. Used to be a whole chain of restaurants with locations in Highland, Plymouth, Livonia, Wayne etc. Food is great, portions good, prices very reasonable. You can’t go wrong. The shakes are amazing!!! I wish they had more locations. Buy local!

Dalyburgers(with sauce!!) are still my favorite! We have been dining at Daly — one location or another for as long as I can remember. In the summer we would sit in the car and eat after working in the garden, in the winter we would go inside. I get the«plate» which comes with fries and coleslaw, but I switch out the coleslaw for a cup of plain chili — which satisfies my inner struggle between a Dalyburger and a Daly Dog. Hubby does the same and saves his chili to top his fries. The kids love the foot long hot dogs — as do the adults when we «switch it up» from the usual Dalyburgers. Surprisingly one visit I ordered a tuna melt — which was pretty good as well — I have had it a couple of times since, and it ranges from good to great based on who made the tuna that day :) Love their iced tea, and if you are dining in they will refill and bring lids so that you can take your tea to go when you leave — best idea ever! I have seen two Daly Drive In’s close in my lifetime, and I hope that this one will survive for a long time to come. Luckily my kids have been indoctrinated with love for Daly so we’ll be there as long as they are.

Food is really good, they give you good size amounts of food, so I is worth the price The service was a bit slow. There was only one waitress. I wouldn’t blame it on her, they should really have 2 during lunch time. All in all is was good.

Unfortunately I have to downgrade from my previous 3 star to a 2 star rating, and barely at that. I stopped in today for lunch and ordered a super Daly burger plate. This is a 1/3# Daly burger, fries, & coleslaw. The coleslaw was just mediocre. Not a lot of anything special. The fries were hot, but of the thinner variety than I prefer(The ketchup is still knock-off). The most disappointing thing was the burger itself. Absolutely no toppings, because you have to pay extra for everything and I forgot that & wasn’t prompted by the server if I would prefer any. The meat was OK, though a little over-cooked for me. The bun was a soggy mess, and what the heck happened to the special Daly sauce??? This is NOT the same sauce I remember from my childhood. This abomination is a mixture of ketchup, mustard, relish, and chopped onions(I’m surprised I wasn’t charged for a topping!). I simply can’t bear to go back and watch Daly’s continue to go downhill. I guess I’ll just retire them from my bookmarks and remember them as they were long ago…

One of the few true«drive-ins» left, though it does have a full-service restaurant too, and we received fast, friendly service. It’s a good, old-fashioned menu with good burgers and great shakes. The bun was a little too much for the burger, but it was buttered, and the sesame seeds are a nice touch. Try the Dalysauce on the side first. It’s yummy, but try it before you slather it on your burger. Onion rings are good, but I have a personal preference for super-thin-cut. There is a great Coca-Cola tray collection on the wall by the kitchen that’s fun to see. It’s worth a trip, especially with a family.

I don’t get it. Why all the high ratings. Never ate here before but Daly’s has a reputation for great burgers in classic 50s Drive-in stuff. But from what I can see it is just BLAH! Not awful, but sure not anything to make a point of having. The 50s sure must have sucked. I ordered the Daly Burger with everything on it expecting at least a bit of lettuce but no. The«special» sauce is nothing to write home about, just OK. Same with the meat itself. The burgers you get from Mickey Ds are even better. But the fries do match the burger in blandness. Only good part was the Cole Slaw, good tangy tast, but still I have had better. Should have known when I saw all the old people, and I am no youngster. The whole nostalgia thing can go too far, bland food, rustic look and no credit cards. Could be ok with mini skirted cuties on roller skates serving to you car. But that is not available. And the kicker, $ 9.50 for a burger, fries, cole slaw and a pop? Really.

Daly’s is easily one of the top 3 places I miss most about Detroit dining and every time I come back home I give it a visit. Not«try» and visit, but physically visit. Daly’s used to be a decent sized Detroit chain until every one of them closed down except for the Plymouth Rd location. I had fond memories going here growing up as a kid with my parents and grandparents. I love the Dalyburger! The sesame seed warm bun is classic, soft and doesn’t over-power the burger. The burger itself isn’t the thickest patty in the world, but it’s a large circumference so it’s not like you are getting short changed. The top thing for me is the Daly sauce, I’m not sure whats in it, but it’s amazing and is the reason I come back time and time again. Once I started to order dessert, I quickly learned that their ice cream products aren’t bad either! The banana split is large, but not to expensive and he ice cream is very old fashioned, cold and heavy. If you aren’t brave enough for dessert, get a shake or malt with your meal! Just a note though, they only take cash so make sure you come with money. They do have an ATM in the foyer and there is a bank across the street.

I have loved Daly’s since I was a little kid… there used to be many locations & I can recall going to the one by my house with my parents growing up. There is something about their Daly dog that just makes me feel good. Their burgers are special because of the Daly sauce which is very tasty though I always get the dog. I LOVE their malts & shakes & the easy old school atmosphere of the joint, if the food wasn’t so bad for me I’d eat here weekly! You can buy all kinds of Daly memorabilia from there as well which is sweet, like a clock or other items with the Daly pig on them. Cash only… they do have an ATM in the lobby though if you need it :)

It’s a nice diner(somewhat like a coney type business) — it was clean and servers came right out to greet me. I order a BLT w/chili cheese fries. BLT — it was EXCELLENT Chili cheese fries — they were OK, I wouldn’t order to them take home; maybe just sit in only when ordering fries. Food took about 5mins to be done. If the diner put more lighting in to make it live, then it might bring more people but it has too many dark colors inside. It reminders me of a western style!!!
