A real disappointment. I had heard and read such good things about this place that I was really looking forward to coming. Unfortunately, it really doesn’t do anything special. The«famous» pasta sauce was just like a portion of pureed canned tomatoes. We had to wait 40 minutes for a 4 top although there were 2 empty 2 tops which could easily been put together. One waitress, very friendly, had all the tables to cover which meant another 15 minutes of waiting. Not her fault though. I had steak with Bruschetta. Their idea of Bruschetta is to cut up a few cold tomatoes and chuck them on top. I’m so tired of having restaurants claiming to be authentic Italian, only to find yet another mediocre American /Italian, dishing out the same old crap! The Calzone was full of Ricotta which is wrong. I lived in Rome so one thing I know is Italian food and this wasn’t! The special sauce which is to say their bottled sauce plus cheese and butter is like wallpaper paste. Cloying and bland. I’m not a great cook but my home made Marinara is way better than theirs. I won’t be going back, ever!

I’m in this area for work and of all the lunch spots I’ve been to this is by far the best. All my meals have been good here but what stands out so far is the chicken parm. The chicken is perfectly cooked, has great flavor, and just the right amount of crispness. the sauce is flavorful and delicious. It comes with a salad. I got the the house dressing which i recommend. I also recommend getting the blue crumbles on in it for an extra dollar. The free Italian bread that they provide before your meal is also awesome. Overall A+ if this place was in my town is go here all the time.

My girl and I visited Canale’s last night and she ordered the lemon crumb haddock(special) and I ordered the deconstructed chicken cordon bleu. Haddock was dry, fishy-tasting and way over cooked(broiled) My chicken was also way overcooked, so dry I had to smother it in marinara sauce to eat. gnocchi were good and pasta side was good. Won’t be going back anytime soon.

My husband and I came here to use our groupon deal. The restaurant is small and quiet, just like I like it. Menu prices were slightly more than I had imagined but the food was good and lived up to expectations. Hubby had chicken parm which was amazing. I had lasagna which was good as well. Their bread baskets before your food arrives were quite tasty as well. We’ll definitely be coming back for more!!!

First impression was this place is a bit odd so I was skeptical. The sign reads Canales — Take Out so I wasn’t sure if they had tables or it was strictly take-out. I was pleasantly surprised to see tables when we walked in. We were quickly seated(party of two) and the waitress came over and brought bread and a dish of butter packets. We had to ask for dipping oil which was strange since they sell it there. You’d think they’d give you a teaser sample or two in hopes you’d purchases some. We ordered a garden salad with their house dressing. The salad was a plate of iceberg lettuce, a tomato slice, some celery and a ring of purple onion. There was very little dressing on it so we had to ask for more and the waitress brought us the entire bottle. Even with more dressing, the salad was nothing to write home about — very boring and I did not finish it. For my entrée I ordered the morolo(?) combo which was rigatoni, chic parm, a meatball and a sausage link. Everything was delicious!!! Being Italian, I am super picky about sauce but they nailed it — it was amazing! This alone is the reason I rated the restaurant 4 stars. If they work on their dipping oil service and the very boring salad, I’d bump it up to a 5.

Great little local restaurant. We ate at the«mothership» off and on in Oswego since college, so we’re thrilled they came to Liverpool. The sauce is really good. I buy it regularly and guests rave about it. My family loves the buff chicken pizza, chicken Parmesan, meatball sandwich, and especially the salad with their house dressing. There are some dishes to stay away from, Utica greens and gluten free pasta. The greens were inedible and the gluten free is hit or miss on cooking it right. The staff is great and they know our preferences now because we go there so much. I always feel like family when we visit. I highly recommend eating there or getting take out.

I used to order from this place maybe once a month and almost always something is incorrect. The most recent time I ordered a chicken wing pizza and I specifically asked if it came with blue cheese and they assured me it did. On arrival I paid the somewhat excessive amount of 18 for a medium and once I sat down with my bag i come to realize that there is no blue cheese and absolutely no SAUCE. They couldn’t have switched my order because my comment on the receipt was there. It was a bad experience and i don’t think ill order again.

Little pricey for the amount of food you get, buuuuut the food is delicious! Does that outweigh the fact that they overcharge though? I mean, I paid 12 bucks for a small bowl of pasta. TWELVE! ha! wow! If I bought twelve bucks worth of pasta in the store… I could have eaten for two-three weeks LOL… They also charge 2 bucks for a small bottle of soda… I opted out of that LOL…

This is by far my favorite Italian restaurant in Syracuse. I have tried virtually all the Italian restaurants in Syracuse and always come back to canales as my safe zone. The chicken parm is the my favorite chicken parm from anywhere. The chicken is always thin enough that you don’t get that chewy rubbery taste that you get from thick pieces. The staff is great… small enough that one waitress is usually all they need. They are very kid friendly and the kids portions are huge! I haven’t tried the entire menu, but you can’t go wrong with the morolo combo, the black and blue pasta, the spaghetti and meatballs or riggies… or the chicken parm of course. They are also home to the best pepper parm dressing I’ve ever had. I don’t know what makes it so good or even if it’s homemade, but it’s amazing. I ordered the pizza once and wasn’t overly thrilled, but it was more because I regretted not getting an Italian dish. The Pizza is fresh and crispy, but is not my first choice. Overall this is one of the hidden gems of CNY.

Best Italian in Syracuse area. Sauce is incredible. We’ve never had a bad meal or poor service. Morolo combo is my favorite. A little bit of everything: chicken parm, rigatoni fixed, sausage, and meatball. The restaurant is small but quiet and never nearly as busy as it should be.

One of my favorite restaurants, Canale’s is a regular stop for me and my coworkers when we lunch out. They have outdoor tables in the summer, and I regularly grab a jar of their sauce to bring home. I recommend the chicken parmesan!

Went for pizza. Salad and service were good but pizza was horrible. It looked and tasted like premade frozen pizza. The ingredients were too evenly cut to be handmade and the crust tasted like biscuit:(. Very disappointing.

We eat at Canale’s weekly and sometimes multiple times in a week. The red sauce is excellent! Every meal is now served with bread, which is made in house every morning. Our favorites include the stuffed pepper(at lunch it comes with a side and a salad or soup) the homemade fettuccine is excellent, and the Montréal Steak tips are delicious and tender. While the food is solid and consistent, the family atmosphere is what keeps us coming back. Alisa and Brian Canale along with staff like Tabitha, Erin, and Monica, who all know our favorites, make this place our go to place.

I LOVE Canale’s. I have never had a bad meal there. The sauce is phenomenal. The chicken parm is the best I have ever had. They have a chicken parm«torpedo» that is a «Hollowed out heel of Italian bread» its more like a third of a loaf! It is absolutely delicious. Service in the restaurant is good but I usually have it delivered. Usually on a weekend, and when they say 30 – 45 min they mean it. I have never waited more than 40 min for a delivery and it is hot when it shows up. The delivery drivers are extremely polite and are always act surprised and very appreciative when they are tipped.

I got Fish Italiano(baked fish with vegetables all over it). The fish was cooked pretty well and there were SOMANY vegetables, which I was impressed with. Don’t remember much else about the place, but we got seated quickly and there were no problems that I recall.

Shrimp Rigigies are amazing! They are in a spicy pink sauce with peppers, onions, mushrooms, and over 10 huge shrimp. I’d go back just for this but the Conolle was outstanding.
