Petstop Pet Salon and School of Dog Grooming

I’ve been going here for years now with my 2 dogs. I do have to give them credit that the grooming they do is good each time, but I have asked the front desk personnel to include in my dogs permanent notes/​records to clean their ears out with each full groom. These are professional groomers and they still can’t clean my dogs ears out, it’s a hit and miss situation, sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. What gives? Maybe I need to find a new dog groomer that is able to clean ears. Every. Time. I shouldn’t have to check their ears for cleanliness before I leave the salon.

I have 4 dogs. 3 have ‘issues’ so I was worried when we moved knowing that I’d have to find a new groomer. I called and explained that one gets bad ear infections when water gets in her ears. One has a torn cruciate ligament and a ruptured disc in his neck. He is very delicate and not stable on his feet. One was a puppy mill mama and shuts down with rough handling or loud voices. The fourth, luckily, is fine. Petstop didn’t seem put off or impatient with our needs. I took the ear dog and the healthy one first just to gauge things. I was very pleased with their concern for the dogs and how specific they were in asking about my grooming expectations. The first two came out perfectly. Just adorable and I think cuter than any prior grooming. They did not seem scared or overly anxious to leave which was good. They smelled fresh and did not have that overpowering floral smell that we’ve had from some places. So far so good. The next day I took scared mama and mister delicate. They again asked about the grooming expectations but they were so gentle and sweet with both babies. They both came out smelling fresh and looking so cute. As with the other two they did not seem frightened or stressed at all. Did not try to escape the salon. That pleased me most of all. Is settle for a second rate groom as long as the dogs aren’t afraid but at Petstop I didn’t have to settle. The grooming was great and the groomers are wonderful with people and pets.

I love this place. I have been taking my 3 year old Maltese, Lilly, here for 2 years now. They have done the best job with her haircuts! I have taken my dog to Petco and PetSmart on other occasions but Pet Stop by far surpasses both of these places.
Not only do they do a great job… they have always been really sweet to my dog. Lilly is terrified of going with strangers but they always are so sweet to her and make her comfortable.
You cant beat the prices either. I have been paying $ 38 for a full groom/​bath and «expressions». Unfortunately I have moved to Chandler and wont be able to keep coming back :(

I’ve been taking my dog, Barney, here for almost two years now. No complaints, he leaves smelling fresh, in good spirits, and they do a great job brushing out his thick coat during the winter seasons.
Friendly staff, great location, great prices.

When I first brought my Dachsund and my great dane/​lab to them I thought the price seemed fair (paid like $ 70 with tip for both) Dachsund is a long hair so she needed to be shaved down etc, Great dane lab is just a giant puppy but hes the most loveable dog and super hyper still. After our first appointment they looked great and seemed happy. So I thought it was a great place (even though when they took our great dane/​lab they put the choker collar on him with the metal spikes, which I do not like). But they said when we left after our first visit that out great dane lab growled in the cage at people. Still to this day my dog does NOT show aggression like that to people at all! Should’ve been a clue. Then I took them a second time charged me over $ 100 this time for both dogs, said my dog tried to bite a groomer?!. Again never does he act that way and now makes me wonder the way this staff treats the animals after they are dropped off. I no longer feel comfortable with them and my dogs.

I must start by saying I have NOT used this company for grooming. My rating is based upon PRICE (outrageous) and the rude tone in the email I received from them.
The prices on their web site are not spelled out. I emailed asking how much it costs to shave a long-​haired cat. I included a photo taken when my cat just had been groomed. My cat is bad at self-​grooming and we have him shaved by professional groomers twice per year. I do not want him bathed, just shaven into a «lion cut». He doesn’t fuss, squirm, scratch or bite. He freezes and does nothing. My old groomer in CT would brag about how easy it was to groom him. She groomed him by herself and never needed a second person to help. She would be done with him in under 15 minutes and charged just $ 25 for the groom, including nail clip. That was in CT, where EVERYTHING is expensive. I told all the above info to the woman at Pet Stop Grooming in my email. I also thought that perhaps since they run a grooming SCHOOL, customers could pay less if they used a grooming STUDENT who is doing his/​her practicum work. That is the case with hairdressing schools, massage schools, etc. I did not inquire about using a grooming student, however.
I received an email response from a woman at Pet Stop Groomers. She wrote, «We charge $ 65-​$ 85 for cat grooming, depending on the length of the cut… I’m sorry if you think our prices are high… Our prices are LOCKED IN and do not change». I never wrote that I thought THEIR prices were high in my original email. I didn’t know what Pet Stop’s prices even WERE because they aren’t specified on their web site! (I HAD said that other area groomers charge $ 55 just for a quick cat shave and that I thought $ 55 was too much). There was no reason, however, for her to assume I was going to try to barter with her.
SIXTY-​FIVE TO EIGHTY-​FIVE DOLLARS??? It’s a 15-​minute shave job, no bath, no scissors, no scratching, squirming or biting. My cat has no mats or snarls in his fur. He is an indoor-​only cat. His hair just looks «messy» and if we don’t shave it, matting can eventually occur. What I’m looking to have done is actually an easy, painless job for any groomer. It doesn’t matter that Pet Stop — according to the email — has the «best groomers around». Even if that’s true, it doesn’t justify asking $ 65-​$ 85 for a service that is fast and non labor-​intensive.
I can get a partial foil highlight in my hair at Salon De Cheveaux for $ 65, and that IS intricate work and takes about 90 minutes. There is a reason that a man’s quick buzz cut at a barber costs way less than a woman’s salon scissor-​cut that needs straight ends or bangs and maybe some layers.
I’m not looking to groom a Bichon Frise who needs scissor work done near her eyes and must have a perfectly-​level fur trim on her face. A «lion cut» shave for a cat goes nowhere near the face. No scissors are needed! I would shave my cat myself if I had any training or confidence.
I really do not understand the prices charged by businesses here in the west valley. It’s not like there are millionaires walking around here. I guess at Pet Stop Grooming, business is so good they don’t need or want my money. Even though there are some really nice areas in LP, where they are located, I don’t think most people in LP would actually pay $ 85 for a quick cat shave.
Just beware: Unless you’re super wealthy, you’ll get sticker shock at this place and someone will probably talk down to you.

Heather grooms my dog and always does a great job. Staff is always friendly and the time I’m quoted is always accurate. I’m forever a customer to this store. Keep up the good work!

I’d just like to update my previous review — they do a great job at grooming my dog, however they have an issue answering their phones. I’ve called during regular business hours multiple times in one day to try to schedule my dog’s appointment, and it ring and rings, and eventually goes to voice mail. I’ve left messages before, and no one returns a phone call. This is the only reason that I’m thinking about switching to a new groomers. It’s kind of annoying having to call multiple times just to try to make an appointment. It’s not very professional. Answer your phones!

Best place for grooming! They are always so friendly to work with and clearly love animals! My schnauzer loves going and looks great afterwards! They are pretty quick as well which is extremely important! You won’t regret taking your pet here!

First time here. Found it on a drive by.
Being new to AZ I was still on the lookout for a new groomers. We have been to 2 in the west valley and not happy enough to go back.
We called on a Sat afternoon and was actually able to slide in on a cancelation but wound up missing it anyway. They rescheduled us with no problem following Tuesday. Of course I forgot. Even though they called me to confirm the day b4. They called again when I didnt show. They still let me come in even though I was a half hour late. The staff was wonderful. All very nice n caring and seem to really love animals.
Since I was late they could have kept my dog extra long but they didnt. He was done in under 2 hours. This is a huge deal for me since I dont like my dog to wait that long.
I wound up bringing in both my dogs. So I dropped off the 2^nd while picking up the 1^st. I was called about 3 hours later becuz I was an hour early for my appt.
So overall I am very happy with the service. I added the free lanolin treatment to my pom and he is silky soft! His backside looks absolutely perfect as does his paws. I sld note, I only got the brushback service for my pom. I would have liked his mane trimmed up a bit.
They were very throughough and made sure I was happy b4 leaving. I asked for a minor adjustment to malteeses face and they promptly adjusted.
I would definitely recommend them to anyone!
However they are not so reasonably priced. I paid $ 80 for both. And one was only a trim.
I usually pay 25 to 30 for one puppy cut.

I have been taking my bichon here for just over a year. Generally I would give it 4 stars but this past time I asked them to clip her one length shorter that I usually get done. When I came to get her, her «eyebrows» (on a puppy cut) were gone and she had more than a few bald spots and her skin was red from irritation! Poor girl, it’s a good thing she’s an indoor dog or she’d be sunburned this summer for sure! Granted I did request that length, I just wish they had called me and told me what was going on. It wasn’t even the shortest length.
Also, if you get your dog groomed ANYWHERE not just here, please, please, PLEASE do NOT let them express the anal glands. That is a job for the vet’s office only. The groomers are only permitted to do «external» (without being TMI) and they can’t fully express everything in the glands due to this. I worked for a veterinary clinic for a long time and dogs would come it with infections as a result.

They do a great job grooming. However, customer service is bad. During one visit I was given the wrong dog. And a second visit charged more than previous times. They claim my dog is bigger than standard.

Well apparently first time there was a fluke. Took my shih-​tzus back. Granted they were matted and needed to be shaved. But I got them back and they did a horrible job on one of them. But my problem is they were groggy for the rest of the day like they had been sedated or something. Later that evening they started getting back to their normal selves. For dogs that are constantly happy and running around… it makes me wonder. My son is extremely upset of how the ladies talked to him about his dog and refuses to take his dog back. i may be wrong about sedating them but if you are going to — you need to get permission from the owner.

This is a great place to get your dog’s groomed if you can get them in, the wait for an appointment is ridiculous. It’s almost worth the extra price to get them in sooner. :(

They are professional friendly and did an awesome job on my German Sheperd! The best lion style cut I’ve ever ad done on her

I love the staff and the wonderful job they do with my doggies. The price is spot on and they have a loyalty program that rewards you when you earn enough points. The groomers always doing an excellent job and are very helpful with recommendations.

When we moved here, I was rather bummed to have to leave our old groomer
I’m such a large city, I was hesitant to leave our Baxter with just any groomer
We gave Petstop a whirl and I have been greatly pleased
We’ve been here several times and they do a great job with him
He never seems stressed after a visit and the haircut has looked great both visits
It’s a little bit of a distance to drive (30min each way) but very much worth it

This place is an awesome place to bring your pets! The staff was super friendly and helpful and the prices are decent and fair! They like to give to the food drive so if you bring I believe 4 or 5 canned goods they will brush your dogs teeth for free. Pretty good deal if you ask me! I would recommend this place to anyone. I save $ 30 – 40 going here instead of Petco or Petsmart. Plus they do a better job here!

Absolutely love this place and so does my dog! Been going here for awhile now. They were able to advise me on the right shampoo to use for his dry skin and they put a cute little bandana on him.

We love Petstop. We have been taking our animals here for years. Cats and dogs. This was the one place we went to that our dogs actually liked coming in the door and didn’t put the breaks on. They have always been great to our animals. Old english Sheepdog, Pit Bull, Terrier Mix, and Persian and Domestic shorthair cats. The only time our children were cut shorter than we liked was when WE let them go way too long without a groom and their mats had to be cut short in order to make it less painful for them. The prices are fabulous and I refer everyone I know here! Love Cheyenne, Domino and Speckes!
