Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lexington East – Winchester Rd

This hotel is so new you can still smell the fresh paint. It is one of the more modern, fresh, and airy HIE locations I’ve been to. The common spaces, hallways, and rooms are bright and welcoming.
But as a new hotel there are still some major issues that management has to figure out. Housekeeping seems to be cutting corners. The first room I checked into had red/​brown stains on the sheets. I asked to be put in a different room, which ended up being a suite. Very spacious, extremely comfortable bed, and nice TV. The problem was when I woke up the next morning and was ready to get in the shower, I noticed housekeeping hadn’t left any shampoo/​conditioner in the bathroom, just lotion. I don’t know of many people who clean their hair with lotion. Anyways, I called down to the front desk to have some brought up (there is a sign in the bathroom stating if you have forgotten toiletries they will bring replacements up right away). The guy at the front desk told me that if I wanted some I’d have to come down and get them because he’s the only employee in the hotel. I had just woken up and wasn’t dressed, so I disappointedly declined. When I went down for breakfast there were two employees sitting in the back room on their cell phones. They couldn’t have brought some up?
Lastly, this hotel should re-​consider their doors. They slam very loudly and will wake anyone from a sound sleep. My door (room 420) actually didn’t shut all the way unless you strongly lifted it upwards while closing. Given that this was an accessible room, they should fix this.
I get that it’s a new hotel but some things are inexcusable. Because it was such a nice property I would consider giving it another shot if I’m in the area.
