I’ve eaten at this restaurant a few times. Each time was less impressive than the last but I wanted to give this joint a chance, but each time I wish I hadn’t. The last occasion I was here we were put in probably the single worst table in the place, each time a waiter, server or busboy came out of the kitchen they bumped my chair. They looked inconvienced taking our order and didn’t give us a chance to complete our orders. All the while the staff was laughing and chatting up the locals and ignoring our table completely. Also, just fyi either the nachos and mexican pizza are the same thing or I just got the complete wrong order. But even more appalling, I was given a side of salsa and when a server came by asking why I wasn’t eating it, I said I don’t like salsa, he took the cup of salsa away from me and back into the kitchen. It was as if he took it back to give to another table. It was uncomfortable, the food wasn’t worth what we paid for it, it wasn’t what I wanted, and I had serious questions about the sanitation after the salsa incident, not to mention the bruise on my elbow to remind me of this horrible dining experience.

We just moved here a few months ago and LOVETHISPLACE!!! We come in once a week. I’ve eaten at just about every Mexican restaurant in the AV from rocamar to donjuans, medranos, el toreo you name it. This is THEBEST!!! Top quality meats, very family oriented. Great service every time we go. It feels so home oriented we always sit in the same spot. My kids love the food and they’re very picky. Best margaritas around! Chips and salsa are always fresh, I always order something new and am never disappointed. My favorite restaurant by far.

Each time we come here things get worse. Service was better at first since it was empty, which was a nice change from the typical nonexistent service we were used to and the only reason for two stars instead of one. What were at one time the best fajitas around can now safely be called the worst. They were quite obviously reheated and overcooked, which was surprising since several pieces were still cold. Meat quality has gone out the window. The beef was extremely dense and chewy. Rice and beans were fine — never heard of anyone messing those up. The margarita was good, they still have that part going for them. A year or so ago I couldn’t tell enough people how awesome their fajitas were. I honestly hope none of those people choose to go now as they will lose all faith in my taste.

First of all, the owner is a grump. He’s a server also and has 0 personality. He dumped a plate of sauce all over my friends shirt because he was staring at her cleavage as he approached the table. Didn’t even offer to compensate.

Been there many times but each time the staff just doesn’t seem happy to have you there. Many friends and family members have said the same they kind of ignore you until you pay then they actually exchange pleasantries. Food was ok they just need to work on their customer service.

I have been to Casa a handful of times, and without fail the staff seems bothered that you stopped by. Although I guess you could consider the mice that can be seen as entertainment, that’s why they got two stars.

Chips and salsa are the only thing that’s great. Our food was just OK. The service was horrible, one waiter is so unfriendly, no smile or anything. The other waiter was fine but that doesn’t make up for sucky service and OK food. Won’t be coming back.

Luis is awesome! Margaritas, chips & salsa are to die for! Food is always good, but I did get one seafood plate that was pretty tasteless. The fajita burrito is always delish.

I’ve tried so many times to like this restaurant but unfortunately, food is flavorless(taste like everything comes from a can), greasy, leftovers reheated, and service is so so so terrible. Ordered shrimp plate w/rice(a 15 $ plate) and all I got was 5 pieces of shrimp and rice… now here’s the kicker… the shrimps were not even deveined and even when I told our waiter, we still got charged full price of our meals and not to mention 4 cocktails and our two children. Waiter is always irritated and on the phone. The owner needs to get a hold of his staff and setting things straight. Many of my friends are starting to notice the poor service of this establishment.

I have lived in the area for 20 years, and this is only the second time I have been to this restaurant. The chips and salsa are very good and seem to be made on the premises. The margarita was tasty. The hostess was friendly and polite. The good ends there. The server was brusque and not attentive. He may have been the owner or manager. The fare is very authentic, they have a problem with execution. I ordered Tampequina and the steak was terribly over done. Our host ordered carne asada medium rare and it was just shy of well. The facility is clean and attractive, but the food and service do not live up to their potential. This is a remote area and the next nearest Mexican food is more than 10 miles away, but I will gladly go the distance.

Great fajitas but service was pretty slow. It looked like there was one cook, one waiter and one bartender early evening Saturday.

Stopped by here after hitting up the shooting range. Thought this would be a great place to have some mexican food. Food was okay. The usual chips and salsa were served. I ordered the #2 burrito, rice and beans with guacamole and sour cream. It was cooked fast! Service does suck! I agree with many of the recent reviews here. You had to flag down someone to get their attention. Once you have their attention, theres no reaction or didnt ask if we needed anything else. You would think thats when its family owned, they would treat you like you were good customers to gain business, right? Apparently, you probably will get served nicer if you were a regular here.

Situated in the small town of Leona Valley, you find what I consider pretty authentic Mexican food. They have everything from tortas and enchiladas to burritos and your regular taco. Been here a handful of times while I’m in town. The times I have been here, it has been decently crowded with a handful of tables. Speaker to the server, it gets a lot slower in the winter because of the cold weather. The server is pretty attentive. The restaurant in split between the main dining area, the bar area, and the outdoor seating area but he is able to get to all the spots and tend to all the guest with minimal problems. As for the food, I try to order something new each time I come here and I think the best thing I have had is the pork and chile verde. I usually end up stealing food for my family’s plates to grab more. The sauce is a little on the bland side but not too off. The meat is tender and the plate comes with rice and beans and a few tortillas(flour or corn). Also, you can choose from soup or salad. I would suggest the soup(meatball soup) over the plain salad(with your choice of dressing). A few things I would want this place to do is to clean it up a bit. The décor is a bit dated with sombreros around the place and beer advertisements. Also, the lighting could be a bit better as well.(Mainly in restroom) This place is a pretty neat place that matches the laid back vibe of the little town. If you are in Leona Valley and don’t want to drive another 10 – 15 minutes to Palmdale, this place will satisfy your needs.

I’m not sure why everyone is so passionate about this place(positive and negative). Its right in the middle The biggest negative is that the staff openly favors faces they know, and new comers are treated coldly. The food is fine for the price(many entrée’s below $ 10), the margaritas are good. If you’re looking for chips and drinks to watch a game, its not bad. We had three diners, one of us ordered the Carnita’s and that was the only serious disappointment, it was very dry, but very flavorful. The other food was all good, but they do tend to over cook meats a bit, and that can really take away from a meal. The guacamole is probably the saddest thing I’ve ever seen. Mixed with sour cream and flavorless. Service is slow and inattentive unless your face is known. Anyhow, you paid for a $ 10 meal in the middle of nowhere, you could seriously do a lot worse. The restaurant is ok as long as you aren’t expecting gourmet food in tiny town. Chips and Salsa seemed to come from bags and cans… Disappointing, but they were good just the same. I prefer both fresh at a restaurant.

This restaurant has good food and slow service. The staff is generally friendly and good at special accommodations. I love running into friends at this establishment. The outside patio is nice for much of the year. I glad we have two great restaurants to eat at in the community of Leona Valley

Awesome place. Cheese enchiladas are bomb! Chips and salsa are home made. Good stuff! Try the mango margaritas.

I remember coming to Casa Gutierrez for my birthday as a kid. I still have the Polaroid picture of me with whipped cream on my nose, a sombrero on my head and flan with a candle in front of me. It was my favorite place to eat on my birthday. I came back recently. It had been a couple of years. I was a bit disappointed. Not so much with the food though. It was still good. I got a chicken enchilada suiza. There was no shortage of chicken. The verde sauce was good. The sour cream and avocado on the side is a refreshing touch. The rice and beans were good. As was my salad and the traditional chips and salsa. Service, however, could have been better. It started out with when my grandparents and I walked it to an empty restaurant and not promptly greeted. A man finally came from the back and seated us but seemed unhappy to do so. Every time he came back to our table, whether to take our order or to bring our food and water, he had a bad attitude. He didn’t set our plates down so much as lightly slammed them. As he picked up the dishes he through them in a plastic tub near the dining area. It was as if we were being an inconvenience to him. Granted it was early on a Sunday. Around 11:30 in the morning. That should not matter. If the sign says open then you should expect to see customers. It was really too bad the service was so unfriendly when the food was so good. I hope to come back in maybe another couple of years. Maybe then service will match the food.
