The Leawood store is a reliable source for coffee. The coffee is great! It’s not my favorite, however, they are quite consistent, which delivers an excellent product. The atmosphere is nice for quick meetings or for studying when it’s not crowded. It’s not as cozy as I’d like it to be, but, it has a function that’s understandable. What keeps me coming back however is the staff. I’m not a consistent Roasterie patron, but, I’ve had some staff favorites when I had come in and they’ve all been great. Currently Joshua is a favorite of mine: he’s friendly and fun and makes a great cup! If you want to get into the coffee madness w/o diving headlong into all the different kinds of beans and brewing methods and being overwhelmed by snobbery, the Roasterie is the place to start.

Great environment and a much needed concept for KC. Unfortunately, if you’re a daily coffee drinker Starbucks has better coffee at a better price.

I love the Roasterie coffee! My husband and I just moved to Kansas and have never tasted coffee this good. The staff is friendly and quick, however, ensure that each cup of coffee is excellent. Although I’m a Starbucks fan based on convenience, I would definitely say that this coffee is better.

Great coffee and food but HORRIBLE music. Top forty… What about a little jazz? A little Ella Fitzgerald maybe? I hate hearing Maroon 5 when I come in here to work.

I am a big fan of the Roasterie and this location does not disappoint. Complex flavored blends, delicious pastries and adorable custom chocolates. Although I love using Apple pay at Starbucks, the actual coffee at Roasterie is superior.

We had some time to kill between appointments so stopped into this Roasterie the other day, on the advice of a clerk at the nearby Crate & Barrel. Walking into the Roasterie was a breath of fresh air– very clean and bright, music not too loud, easy to read menus, and a helpful eager staff. We ordered one of the specialty lattes(I think it was called ‘crunch’ something) and 2 hot teas. I love that they serve Harney and Sons Tea– it’s my absolute favorite tea brand. My daughter also selected a brownie, that was very moist, rich, and dense– I ended up liking it more than she did. My mom deemed her latte ‘wonderful,’ but my daughter and I couldn’t try out our teas because they were too hot. Like surface of the sun-type hot. This was beyond boiling. The water was so hot that it was hot to the touch even through the cup and extra sleeve. We took our teas to go and ended up not even being able to sip them until almost a full hour later– so crazy! We will gladly return to this Roasterie– it’s very welcoming and has plenty of places to relax and unwind, plug in your laptop, etc., but if I order tea again I’ll tell them to lower the temp a bit, add some ice cubes, or maybe serve it in a larger cup so there’s room to add some milk to cool it off.

My aunt got their specialty coffee drinks and I ordered the chai latte. I would say both pretty smooth drinks. The coffee wasn’t too sweet and didn’t have that«burnt» taste. Chai didn’t taste artificial but I felt it was missing something. I didn’t have that«ahhh» feeling. If I came back, I would definitely grab a coffee.

Do the smart thing. Buy the coffee and drive home and brew it yourself. It took 20 minutes and 4 visits to the counter to remind them that they forgot my order. Horrible service at this location.

This is my go-to coffee place when I’m in the area(and I’m in the area often since my in-laws live a few miles away). And although I prefer this place to the Brookside location, I’ve had a few experiences that keep me from giving this Roasterie a better rating: — Twice I’ve gotten cookies or brownies in the display case that were rather dry and stale. — I came in once asking for low-fat(rather than non-fat) milk for a drink. The barista taking my order asked, «Non-fat milk?» And I asked if they could combine the whole milk with non-fat milk. «Yeah,» she stated. What did I end up getting? Non-fat milk. — Another time I ordered a chai tea latte with almond milk. Now, I’m not a chai tea latte connoisseur, but i’ve had chai tea latte at a handful of other places and besides the differences in spices used, they taste the same. What I got that day tasted like a fruity tea with almond milk. So it tasted just… weird. — The place to stand while waiting for your drink is just is an odd, cramped spot. I’m always moving over to let others get cream or sugar and trying not to stand directly in front of people who had the misfortune of getting seats in the busiest part of the café. Now, the Roasterie does have redeeming qualities, such as lots of delicious coffee options, excellent Christopher Elbow chocolates, pleasant baristas, 2-punch Tuesdays, and a convenient location. I think the key to an excellent Roasterie experience is to order a fairly normal coffee drink without any crazy bells and whistles, order a Christopher Elbow chocolate truffle for dessert rather than a pastry, and learn to make friends with the guy who is sitting *this close* to you while you wait for your drink. And honestly, that doesn’t sound like a bad coffeeshop experience to me.

The 3 stars is only a rating on the service not the coffee. Generally speaking the staff was great but this is the 2nd time it took nearly 20 – 25 mins to get my drink. I love the coffee here but if you’re in a rush and are grabbing a cup to go you may want to plan extra time.

Great coffee, friendly barristas. and they have truffles?! This place was fantastic, the staff is great, they have Central American coffee(which is a win for me. its my favorite coffee region!) And there isn’t much of a wait, they run extremely efficient behind the counter. SO if you are near by and on your way to somewhere, stop by grab a cup of coffee and continue your journey. You will not be disappointed.

The coffee here is phenomenal. I had to take a bag back to California with me. Best coffee in the Kansas City area. Best coffee in any area. I work in offices walking distance to Sightglass, Blue Bottle, and Barefoot and I’m still missing The Roasterie.

Sorry, Roasterie Café, you’re falling off your game. I’ve been here a number of times to grab coffee before heading over the Trader Joe’s and it used to be better. Lots better. Service seems to be very slow as they never seem to have enough people working anymore. This never used to be a problem, but it has been the last few times I visited. The last time I was there, the barista was a very nice young lady who didn’t seem to have a clue what she was doing. There were a lot of people waiting on coffee and each cup came out slowly, one by one, by the name of the drink, not the person who ordered it, even though names were taken at the time of ordering. This made things more disorderly than they had to be. Also, when I finally got my coffee after over 20 minutes of waiting, it was cold. MInd you, I would not have been disappointed if I’d ordered an iced coffee, but I did not. When you pay about 5 bucks for a fancy schmancy cup of coffee, it really should be done right… or even close to right. But 20 minutes was enough of my day wasted, so I didn’t do anything about it. Due to the convenience of this location, I’ll probably still visit every now and again, but it’s truly disappointing to see the decline since this place first opened.

Great, great, great coffee! My blueberry muffin wasn’t bad either. I came here in the morning before an interview and it was mostly businesspeople stopping in on their way to work. The baristas were super nice and helpful. I sat for a while on my laptop. There’s a nice atmosphere, upscale, contemporary, modern. I like it.

I’ve been to The Roasterie Café a couple of times and don’t really have anything to say good or bad. The coffee I had was good(I had different drinks both times I visited) but not as great as I was expecting based on all of the reviews. Like I said it was good but probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go here again.

Best coffee in the KC area. Hands down. And if you feel you’ve been good today, get the wake up call. Excellent wifi Rows of plugs along every wall Two doors down from the apple store Great service from a cool staff rounds out the experience.

They have coffee… The coffee is flavored and such. They have cocoa and tea. They have beverage specials(not prices but selections) and rich people chocolates. During fall they have Chai-der. It makes me smile and tastes good to my palate. Sometimes they swirl your beverage to be pretty. I like pretty.

I love The Roasterie’s coffee, and this was my first experience at the Leawood location. It wasnt that crowded at 2 in the afternoon, so we were surprised and somewhat annoyed when it took almost 20 minutes for our order to be made. It wouldn’t have been a big deal if we were sitting down to read a book or work, but we were stopping through on a way to a meeting and almost had to cancel our drinks because it made us late. If you’re looking for a casual coffee shop with plenty of comfortable seating and spot to plug in your laptop while enjoying good coffee, The Roasterie is the best place in town. However of you’re stopping through in a hurry, the baristas at Starbucks are a little more on the ball.

Espresso two doors down from an Apple Store. Is that legal? Chrisopher Elbow chocolates in the front case. That’s just about too much temptation. But… Dear Roasterie, realize you’re KC based and I love ya, but you’re starting to feel a little like the larger corporate coffee houses. Nothing wrong with the concept of build one successful location, repeat many times, but the issue is quality starts to suffer as was the case with my visit today. Me: «12 ounce latte for here.» Comes out in a paper cup. Uh, thanks. Next time I guess I’ll state I want it in a ceramic cup for here. Temperature somewhere between lukewarm and what it should be. Flavor, very good, consistent with other Roasteries I’ve visited. Very smooth, nutty flavored espresso, not bitter. The house Panama, slight bitter, robust, full flavored. No complaints. Think the issue today is the staff, one of which appears to be in training. Nothing wrong with that, but when you pay good money for a coffee you should get a great product. The bar in the metro area has been raised in the past year. Three years ago this would have been a Kansas City 4-star experience, but I’m sticking with 3– stars here. Don’t doubt you can have a better experience but it wasn’t in the cards for me today. If I’m in the area I’ll stop again, but if I’m looking to hang out and do some work I’ll head downtown to Quay or midtown to Oddly Correct where I know I’ll get my socks knocked off.

One of my favorite places to hang out on a Saturday or Sunday morning for java and a crossword! The 119 Roasterie isn’t as «hip» as it’s older brother in Brookside, but the service and the coffee quality don’t disappoint. The Roasterie(company) has the best coffee in Kansas City and to be able to share it at their satellite café locations is an even better way to partake in the caffeine party. I’ve tried numerous concoctions on the menu, but in all reality, you can’t beat a good old fashioned drip coffee here. Fanciness and whip cream aside, the Roasterie is a company for coffee lovers. Save the blended coffee drinks and extra whip cream for Starbucks, the Roasterie IS Kansas City coffee.
