I’ve dined here a few times and always had a great experience. The portions are huge! This review is mostly for the happy hour on the upstairs patio. The prices are phenomenal and all of the apps we had were so good, and I believe it goes until 7PM which is a nice perk. Great place to go with friends for a cocktail after work. I plan to go a lot this summer. :) Especially loved the spinach dip, bruschetta and mussels appetizers.

My first time here and I loved this place. The service was excellent, I was not the first to get there from our party and I don’t know what happened but some of the people in our party were kinda snippy…:/ But the wait staff were awesome! Always patient and didn’t get mad at all. But after we were seated everything was fine. We ordered drinks and all were excellent! We also ordered a bunch of apps, Loved the grilled artichoke, tuna tartar, a fried cheese thing and we got a few other things… all were good! I got the ribeye and that was amazing, it was rubbed w/espresso and it wasn’t overpowering at all. The pork chop was also awesome! And everyone else had a good meal too. I can’t wait to go back!

Service was excellent. Wine list a bit pricey. Nice atmosphere. I really liked the deviled eggs. The salad was a disappointment. A tad too much cabbage in it. The Prime rib was good. we split the Red velvet cheesecake which was a good way to end a meal. There is street parking but also free parking in a nearby garage. The outdoor seating can be a bit noisy but not overwhelmingly so. Good date night location.

Average at best. Menu totally plagiarized from j Alexander’s. Over priced for sure. The wines are ok but way marked up. The steak soup is terrible. I think the Couscous lacks flavor. Deviled eggs are fair at best.

We took an out of town friend out for lunch at the Grille. Both she and my wife raved about the high quality food, ambiance, and service. This was the first time I had actually been to The Grille at Park Place. We called the manager over to give him a compliment on this incredible dining experience. Our server also was terrific.

We have not had a better steak in Kansas City. The filet was perfect. And by perfect, I mean a crusty, buttery, peppery, salty, perfectly prepared and cooked piece of utter greatness. The sides were excellent as well. Deviled eggs were utterly amazing. The cured and candied bacon on top was a unique and delicious touch. Mashed potatoes and mac and cheese were serviceable as well. Wine list was good but not a lot of options for bottles under $ 50. However, Park Place does not appear to cater to the casual diner. This is a swanky restaurant and bar for the upscale customer. I would be remiss if I did not compliment our server. She was on the younger side with black hair but unfortunately we did not grab her name. She knew the menu top to bottom and recommended excellent wines, entrees and apps. We will find out her name and request her every time we stop in. Compliments to the chef, staff and restauranteur. We will be back!

Went on a snowy night. Felt like we were in a New York restaurant but with Midwest congeniality. Great atmosphere! Deviled eggs app must try. Superb service. Salads and steak were all good and reasonably priced. Will definitely come back

Birthday choice of my daughter since she enjoyed it on her first visit. All four entrees were great. Prime Rib and Pork Chop were tops. Chris our server was«splendid». Mitch the owner stopped and provided great service as well. Waiting to go back on a Saturday to catch the music!

Great Happy Hour! I think this may be all you need to know about The Grille. There are some fabulous, decently-priced apps on the HH menu including flavorful mussels, prime rib bites(amazing dipped in the horseradish sauce), a baked brie app with poached pears that is simply astounding. They also have an array of drink specials including $ 5 martinis and well drinks plus beer and wine. I’ve been here twice for Happy Hour and both times, it was excellent. I will definitely be returning again and again.

Went for happy hour with a group of girlfriends and had a great time! Highlights were skating rink view, inviting and cozy atmosphere, $ 5 cab wine glasses, and great appetizers. We tried bruschetta, spinach/artichoke dip, brie and steak bites. All were very good. The service was a little lax and we often had to flag down someone when we needed something, but otherwise the experience was excellent. Previous visit(first time there) a friend and I had drinks on the ‘rooftop’ which was very cool, but it wasn’t open last night(Tuesday), although the website says the rooftop is open Tuesday-Saturday. Next visit we’ll check to make sure the rooftop is open. Fun place!

I’ve been here twice. Once with a workgroup and once with my wife. I have honestly had nothing here that wasn’t excellent. The same was said by every one of my coworkers and my wife, who is very fish picky. I just wish we remembered to take pictures. The spinach and artichoke dip was the best tasting and prepared we’ve ever had. The filet was fantastic both times. My wife had the crab stuffed grouper and asparagus, and it was perfect to both of us. We also fell in love with the gourmet Mac and cheese, and think that we saw someone make it his entire meal. The red velvet cheesecake was delicious, and all of the holiday drinks we tried were very tasty and satisfying.

11÷7÷2015 @ 3pm — The décor of this place is absolutely wonderful. The staff were all very professional looking and provided the same professional service. After walking in we were greeted and seated promptly. To start we ordered the best deviled eggs I have ever tasted. The filling was absolutely wonderful. My better half decided on the cheeseburger and I had to have a full slab of baby back ribs(I can never eat enough ribs). She really enjoyed a cheeseburger that was cooked perfectly and accompanied by some really delicious french fries. My ribs also include those delicious fries and some outstanding coleslaw. The slab of ribs they brought out were hanging over the plate. They were cooked perfectly, had just the right amount of sauce on them, and we’re delicious. For dessert she had the red velvet cheesecake and I ordered a crème brûlée. Both were outstanding and we are looking forward to going back!

Over all not a bad place but I hate it when restaurants don’t make the customer their priority! I ate upstairs on the patio to enjoy the live music. I was going to have dinner and some drinks but I was told I could not order from the full menu upstairs and would have to go back downstairs. Why? Poor business rule. When businesses dictate what customers can and cannot have, the business will fail. Who cares if the restaurant is trying to set a certain atmosphere in the upper patio vs downstairs dinner area. Give in to what the customer wants or you will fail like the other local businesses. The last business in the very same building failed because of poor customer service.

I try to give restaurants at least three visits before I write reviews as I feel that even the best restaurants can have a «bad night». That said, as much as I am pulling for The Grille to succeed, I cannot recommend it. Here’s why: Visit 1: Seated on patio so our daughter could run around in the play area at Park Place. Very hot day, only one other table sat on patio, and we were sat in the far back by the fire pit. Fire pit was lit(when it’s 85 degrees out? Why?) which made our table even hotter. Ordered wine and beer with our meal, bartender promptly poured and sat it on bar. Drinks were warm by the time they made it to our table. We both ordered Chicken Club Sandwiches which tasted good. Visit 2: Another slow Saturday night at The Grille, no daughter. We ordered drinks before the meal and this time the beer was skunky(dirty tap?) and server was quick to replace it with another beer. We didn’t see her for another 15 minutes as we tried to put in our order. This time I ordered the Hamburger while the wife again got the Chicken Club. This time the Club was soggy, messy, and had to be eaten with fork and knife. Tasted«off». She didn’t finish it. My burger was even worse. There was a huge chunk of hard material in my burger, about the size of two marbles, that was actually just a bunch of fat. I do not understand how it is possible for ground beef to have a single large chunk of fat in it. Visit 3: Brother in law wanted to have his birthday party on roof of The Grille. Very nice and cool area! There was one bartender and one waitress attending the entire area and there were no more than 31 people(yes, I counted) up there. The bartender spent the entire time facing away from people, messing with the POS system. He looked very frustrated but kept his composure and seemed like a nice guy. Drinks ran dry at our table quickly and after 10 – 15 minutes of waiting I had to stand at the bar for another 5 – 10 before I could put in the order. Overheard a lot of comments about slow service from other patrons while waiting. Put in an order of appetizers in at 7:45pm and by 8:20 we still didn’t have them. Bartender was absolutely overloaded(waitress had disappeared) so I went down and asked to speak to the manager in the friendliest, helpful way I knew how. The hostess(G) insisted that she was the manager and that she could help me. Her attempt to sound concerned about what was going on upstairs was probably intended to convey interest in what I had to say but came across very condescending and placating as if she were trying to settle-down a child. It was irritating to say the least, especially as I had been very careful to not come across as an obnoxious patron. Regardless, Hostess G came through and a bunch of new wait staff came upstairs to assist the poor Bartender(who was still glued to the POS system). Even then, however, service was still slow and we only once, in the 3 hours and 15 minutes sitting at the lounge table, had a server drop by to ask for a drink order. Attempting to get our check and pay to leave proved to be a similarly frustrating affair as, again, we could not get the Bartender(or Manager’s) attention from the POS system. By this time the crowd around the bar(mostly strangers) were starting to turn a little hostile. For what it is worth, my message to management is this: fix your service problems and improve your food’s quality-control. For a great location and a very good menu with fair prices, you guys should be killing it. But you’re not and I don’t think you can continue to play the«new restaurant blues» any longer. Your marketing touts your relationship to large franchise restaurants notorious for good food and service but that is not, at all, the experience I have had. I want to like The Grille but you guys have to try harder. In a year from now, if I see that you guys are as busy as you should be, maybe that will tell me that you have fixed the problems in your restaurant. Until then, I’m going to stick with Pig and Finch.

This was our first visit and we started upstairs on their deck. I loved the vibe there and the furniture. The bartender, Jenny, did a great job taking care of us. We moved downstairs for dinner and Bobby Jones did a wonderful job as our server. He is extremely knowledgeable about wines and the food choices. Julie had the Petite filet and thought it was a 9 out of 10. We all felt that the spinach artichoke dip was excellent, it was definitely a notch above the usual dips. I had the special which was a grouper with mushroom sauce and I really enjoyed it. Hubby had the prime rib and said it was good but he would probably order the steak next time. The crab bisque he had as a starter was really good. We decided to order the chocolate WOW dessert(based on name alone!) and it was an excellent choice to have while we finished our wine.

We finally had an opportunity to try out the food at our new neighbor, The Grille at Park Place. Great location. Nice people. Good food. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip, on the recommendation of our waiter. It was really good. Rather than chips, it’s served with warm pita bread. It’s practically a meal. The chicken sandwich was outstanding and the steak we ordered was cooked perfectly. It was a really good meal. No complaints or concerns at all. I note some of the other reviews mention inconsistent service. We did not experience that issue at all, but as a new restaurant, I expect some growing pains. This is a nice addition to Park Place.

I really want this place to make it. Its not far from my house and the location is fantastic. It is located in the middle of Park Place, next to the open area/ice rink, and the building layout and décor of the place are great. Unfortunately, our service and the food we were served was not up to par with the location. My wife and I eat out several times a week, and frequent many of the places off of 119th street, from Roe to Metcalf. We ate here about 2 weeks after they opened. Here are the things that were not up to par in the area of service: — we were not told about the specials before we ordered. We changed our order after the bartender told the person next to us about the specials(we ate at the bar) — Even though we were there during happy hour, we were never told about any happy hour specials by any of the servers. — My wife’s glass of wine was exactly the price of one entire bottle of that wine. Most restaurants price at 2.5−3X, maybe 3.5X, this seemed extremely high. — My entrée, a salad, was brought out without my wife’s entrée. We had to ask to have go back until they could bring them out together. More important is the food. We were disappointed. I had a Chicken Cobb style salad. I get this type of salad at several different restaurants along the 119th st corridor, including the more casual place across the lawn from the Grille. Most of the lettuce — maybe all of it — was iceberg. The chicken was in cubes. There was some bacon and some kind of nut — maybe pecan — on the salad, but they were cut up so small that they quickly gathered on the bottom of the bowl. I really couldn’t enjoy them with the salad. I would rank this salad at the bottom of the list compared to other salads I get in the area. My wife had the special — swordfish. She found it to be cooked right but bland, and didn’t like the sauce on it. During our meal, the manager came up to us and said«Did we WOW you?». I wish we said something but we didn’t except say it was fine. When someone says some thing like that to me, i feel like they’re trying to just look for a «YES!», not get some real feed back. Especially when its so far from the actual experience. They must know. As a small business owner, I know the importance of getting real, honest feedback. I encourage management /ownership to really seek this out, so this place can make it.

This couldn’t have been a nicer experience. We heard about The Grille at Park Place from #ThisisKC and boy are we glad we listened to their recommendation. The food was amazing and the service and people have now made it a favorite. What else made this memorable? A beautiful day on their outdoor patio while enjoying cool weather and some really good music. Thanks for taking such good care of us… We’ll definitely be back!
