Awful staff. Buying a bottle of wine is such a simple transaction. But the staff at the front desk was so unexpectedly nasty that I left my purchase on the counter and walked out. The young man and the older blonde woman at the register verbally attacked me. I hadn’t even said anything to them! One of the strangest experiences I have had at a store. I am a middle age woman getting some wine for a dinner party. Not the sort of person who is used to being yelled at for any reason. Very bad experience.

What a wonderful store! The staff is ALWAYS friendly, the beer is nice and cold, and the selection is great. Don’t forget to check out the wine rack in the middle of the store. They offer a great selection of wines for $ 25.00 or less. *Bonus* It’s close enough to walk to!

Love it here! Pretty much everyone there knows me by name(though that may say more about me than it does about them :-/). Great wine selection, and the staff is very helpful when trying to find something new– I don’t navigate the country-based organization that most places seem to be using these days. Again — my own fault. Huge beer cooler in the back, and the chilled wine selection isn’t bad either. I’m a white girl at heart(er, liver) so I appreciate that! In the«party shop,» they’ve got a really decent cigar selection as well. Not to mention jams, jellies, marinades, and all things mixer. Really, there’s nothing this place doesn’t do for me. Oh, and lots of local brewers and distilleries are sold here too. Definitely worth stopping by! And I can often find better deals than at Royal down the street on the Mo side. Good stuff!

My husband loves this place for beer. He has had trouble with buying skunky beer at other places that don’t keep the beer cold or have enough turnover on the microbrews. Not so here. All the beer is kept in the gigantic walk in cooler in the back. To be fair, the organization of the cases leaves something to be desired, but if you can’t find it just ask. The guys are super helpful and have tried a lot of the wine and spirits and so can tell you about them fairly well. I’d say pricewise it’s about on par with other stores it’s size. Fairly broad wine selection. They also have carts, which I appreciate.

Ranchmart Wine and Spirits has recently(about 3 months) undergone a huge overhaul. What used to a charming little wine shop with character and warmth is now a gigantic, cold wine and spirit grocery store about three times the size of the original. While they still have the same wine selection if not bigger, there is really no hometown feel anymore. The floors are swept concrete and the wine sits in metal racks surrounded by wall coolers accented by the dull hum of florescent lighting. Some of the old wooden wall shelves exist in the west corner, almost like a tribute to the old store. There is a walk in beer cooler in the back where prices are hand-marked, and organized by size, type, import, etc… but you do get the feeling your in the storage room digging through inventory to find the beer you’re looking for. It appears as though they are continuing to expand with what looks to be a half-finished cigar shop. Prices are still similar, as I recall, but I did not receive the same knowledgeable help with my wine search, as I had in the past. The new Ranchmart Wine and Spirits will most likely be a big hit and produce a much higher volume, as to compete with Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits down the road. I guess will continue to shop there; I just miss my little old wine shop.

Ranch Mart Wine & Spirits has gotten bigger — and better. What used to be tiny, a telephone booth of liquor store has grown into a full service wine shop. It’s a little hard to find — tucked next to the Price Chopper at 95th and Mission Road, but worth hunting for.(Look for the purple sign.) Once you do find it, you’ll be happy. The wine section is excellent, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The beer cave is a great place to hang out on a hot day. Bring a lawn chair. Just kidding. But you will find all your favorite imports and domestics. Show up on Saturday morning when Steve is working and you might be meet Bubba, the Great Pyrenees. Oh, and don’t forget 10% off Tuesdays, when every wine in the shop is discounted. One drawback. No Party Shop to buy mixers. But it’s coming.
