Burgess Grill

Very tasty burgers and fries. Our waitress was sweet and made sure to check on us often. The building is easy to miss and a little outdated but very clean inside. Be sure to bring cash because my husband had to walk to the atm so we can pay our lunch. I was thinking of taking a star away for that reason but since the food was good I’ll just leave it at a 5 star.

I have been going to this restaraunt since 1998 and only once had bad service. This place is awesome and I highly recommend it to everyone! I am partial to the meatloaf dinner but will not hesitate to order any meal they offer! YUMMY!!!

This is a great diner. I had a chili cheeseburger with tator tots. It was a huge burger smothered in chili. I really enjoyed my lunch here and would be willing to come eat here again.

What can I say it is the place where everybody knows your name! Locals mainly, always know someone there, the food is a good price and served up hot and tasty. It is a slice of Americana having counter service and bringing my cash. Cash only which is fine because it’s worth it!

Excellent old school burger place. Cash only place and early closing hours place. My first time there in 2014 was great. We were there on a Saturday afternoon when they did not seem particularly busy. We haven’t been back mostly due to their early closing hours. The whole experience was what we expected.

This place is always busy. But if you can plan to be there around 1245, you will be seated quickly and your food will be out in no time.
The burgers are large and tasty.

Hodgepodge burger was great service was ok. I want another burger from here just writing down this review.

Ordered the flame burger and it was Amazing! It was a little messy but definitely delicious.

Went for lunch. Great burgers, lots of choices, service is okay, not enough servers. I had the crunchy. Burger, very delicious. The two people I went with got a mushroom Swiss and a mexican burger, they both agree with my previous statement.
They don’t take credit cards, that would’ve been great to know before hand. Luckily I had cash, I had to pay for everybody.

Hands down the best burger I have ever had. I’ve been all over the country and none have topped this place yet, I recommend the hodgepodge, flame, or chilli burgers. If you like cheese get the cheese tots. Man I miss this place and I always look fora reason to get back there for a burger.

I ordered the burgess burger, the menu states it comes with chips… which I did not get. I also ordered the onion rings all 6 of them were burnt. I tried one hoping that it wouldn’t taste burnt but it did… I wanted to let the server know… however, she didn’t come to my table until after I had already finished my burger. The burger was edible though not worth over 4 dollars. By the time I finished it the bun had disintegrated.

The burgers here are amazing!!! The onion rings are definitely an added bonus. Definitely one of my favorite burger places. Service lacks terribly. You seat yourself at a table that may or may not be clean because they never seem to have more than 3 servers. You will never know your servers name because they are basically order takers. The servers are unfriendly!!! At times you can hear them arguing too (which I can’t stand to hear when I’m eating). I only go back because I love the onion rings and my favorite burger place doesn’t have onion rings! Another big downfall is it is cash only.

Great burger! Had the onion burger with the onions fried into the burger and really enjoyed it. Went with a group of about 15 and thought it would take forever to get our food out but they were very quick with turning the meals and not a complaint among the group! Have homemade pies as well, but not enough time or stomach space to indulge. Cash only place with no ATM so be prepared…

GREAT Burgers! i had the Cuban Burger. Its not really a cuban but I get the flavor they were going fors. Food came out very fast even though they were slammed and the fries were great. I will be back!

I was born and raised in Lawton and know Sue/​Dana personally and would’ve eaten here every day if I could have. The burgers and fries are literally the best I’ve ever had in my life and the mark by which I have judged all other burgers and fries since I left Lawton and lived several other places. I still have yet to find a burger that comes close to this.
It is always a treat now when I come through Lawton to visit and this is the place I must come not only to eat but to say hi to everyone and catch up. I must also say that the best chocolate pie I’ve ever had is here and a few times in college I remember buying a complete pie to take back to the dorms at Cameron.
It’s just one of those places that you can’t explain and have to go to with the old school customer service and classic diner ambiance. Service has always been fast and nice people and have never in my life had one complaint about this place. If you’ve never been you’re missing out.

See this is why I always go back to a place at least one more time after a not so great meal. Unless of course its a hospital. Hospital food is only accessible if you are in A Hospital! Helllooooo! Am I the only one that has done that? I mean I didn’t consciously get hurt a second time to go back and retry the menu. Then again maybe subconsciously I did ram my thumb into that chainsaw on purpose because im just that much of a… dedicated Unilocaler.
Had to try the stuffed chicken breast and salad just one more time before I filled out that second hospital courtesy form. (you get it in the mail two weeks after your stay asking how the services and food were.) I wrote down the first time that the food sucked, but maybe its because I was in there for running over my own foot with a boat trailer (…long story.) and not completely conscious after the surgery. My wife says I did not get stuffed chicken, I had broth. More than likely I ate one of those little pillows they give you… Ok but the second time with the chainsaw it WAS chicken and It was damn good…
In any case after recovery (and a very generous hospital review form signed and mailed) We went back to the Burgess grill for a second time and had the best Darn burger I have ever had. My wife agrees her bacon cheese chipotle (I say chipotle because it was some kind of very spicy pepper cheese not sure what kind but it rocked!) burger was better than the first time. If Im going to rate them on sheer burger joint burger nom nom nom It’s a solid 4 star. Service was just great, price eh, but hey the meal was spot on and the service was perfect.
So my advice, turn the chainsaw off when not in use, never let your Chihuahua back the boat into the water and eat at the Burgess Grill if you want a very very good burger!

Food was excellent! Couldn’t have asked for a better burger! This restaurant is extremely busy during lunch time though. We arrived at 12, and didn’t get our burgers until 12:55! After 1 pm it slowed down a lot though. I’d recommend arriving after 1pm. Great choice though. Very satisfied!

The place has wood paneling and some older interior visuals, but it had a real nice old fashioned diner kind of feel. The waitresses were rushing around to quickly serve the busy lunch crowd and I sat down at the counter. Ordered the onion cheese burger with bacon and the wait time wasn’t too bad. Burger was greasy and delicious, but the onions were sliced thin and long, so I had greasy onion strings trying to repel from my mouth hole as I tried to chew. This was the only negative part of the experience. I think slicing the onions shorter will make this burger as close to perfect as it can get. Try this place if you like greasy burgers and are in town for lunch!

HANDS DOWN — The Best Burger in Lawton
I know for Lawton that’s not necessarily saying a whole lot — but with the recent addition of The Backporch, Jak’s Café and the White Buffalo to Lawton’s repertoire of locally owned burger joints as well as the nationally recognized Meers Store/​Restaurant we actually have a pretty decent selection to choose from. And as good (or bad) as any of these places might be they all don’t quite live up to what Burgess Grill has to offer.
Aside from being owned and operated by some of the nicest people you will meet they offer up some of the best burgers you can buy at a very reasonable price. The atmosphere is very relaxed, clean and bright. I would advise avoiding this place during lunch hour as it will be very busy and make sure to bring cash with you since they don’t take credit/​check. My only real complaint would be their early closing time of 4 p.m.
My favorite dish would have to be the Flame Burger with tatertots and an extra cup of flame sauce to dip in on the side. The name might be intimidating but they manage to achieve a perfect balance of heat, spice and flavor that doesn’t overwhelm.
So if you happen to be in the downtown/​mall area do not pass this place up. You will not be disappointed.

I’ve been coming to Burgess Grill since I was a kid. The menu hasn’t changed much and that’s for good reason. You come to Burgess to get a quality burger. Yes, the patties might not be the monstrosities that we are used to from chain restaurants, but the beef is delicious and the toppings are plentiful. It can be very busy around the lunch rush, but if I go anytime after 12:30 I can usually be in and out in less than 30 minutes.
Burgess is a Lawton gem and undoubtedly my favorite place to eat in town.
