Myself and my husband went to Sullivan’s Steak & Beverage Co. on Feb. 20, 2016. We went around 3:30p.m., so it was after lunch and before dinner. There was no one else on the restaurant. First when I was looking on line at the menu it said with entrée you get two side which was not true only one. Service was a little slow after getting our meal she never came back until we were finished. I order a filet medium and rare. I did tell her about it she said she could put it back on the grille, I had finish eating already, my husband shared his new york strip with me. I took my steak home to cook more later. Also my food was barely warm.

I came to eat with my boyfriend on a Sunday night. A sign told us to seat ourselves and we did. Didn’t see a single person who seemed to work there for a while. Finally a waitress took our drink orders, she brought my boyfriends drink but forgot mine n joked how she decided not to bring what I originally ordered. I myself am a server at a restaurant And this was bad service. Our waitress never came to check up on us or anything to ask if our food turned out good. Which it did not the fish n chips were flavorless and disgusting. She brought me the wrong salad dressing, most of my meal looked and tasted like it was made a week before. The only thing worth eating here is the ribs and crab dip and I suggest you order them as a to-go order.

I chose this place for lunch today and things were great! The service was quick and friendly. I got a chicken salad sandwich, the bun was fresh, the chicken tasted excellent! It came with chips and a pickle which were both also fresh and tasty. Thanks Sullivan’s!

In addition to my earlier review, for a group supper, I attend a technical/social gathering that meets monthly before noon at Sullivan’s for breakfast/lunch. The owner, Terri, has been most accommodating of our meeting, providing a seating area where we find quiet, good service, good food, and an opportunity to conduct our meeting business. The food is good, and I always find fresh hot coffee. We feel our group’s business is appreciated, and we appreciate the thoughtful service and good food.

OK — so Sullivan’s isn’t the most classy place to get a steak dinner, but the food, overall, was pretty good. I had the Shepherds Pie and my partner had the steak which was superb. The Shepherds Pie was OK to good. Not the best I’ve ever had, but it was decent. The waitress was top knotch — really friendly and attentive. The place could be cleaned a bit better. The bathrooms definitely need a major disinfection clean up — they were kinda gross. But overall, the restaurant area was very nice and lack of cleanliness didn’t enter my mind, unlike some other reviewers, which I think were unfair in their assessments of Sullivans. I’d definitely go back.

It’s a pub with bar signs, cold beer and food that goes well with beer. Personally, it would please me if this place stays low key because that’s what I like about it on my lunch hour. Terri doesn’t try to pass this place off as a place for stuffy, pompous food snobs, rather it’s more suited for people seeking a relaxed atmosphere with friendly patrons and good grub. It’s nothing glamorous, but it is great for what it is. The 2 for 1 Thursday burgers are a great deal and they cook it less than medium just as I like it.

I wish I could give less then 1 star. I have not been there since right after the Sullivan’s sold the business. It is poorly kept, dirty, cheap products and the service was slow and food sucked. We went on St Patricks Day for corned beef and cabbage. The corned beef was so salty and cut into crumbles. We had 6pm reservations for 4 people. We were sat right away but it took an hour to order. We finally left at 9pm because it took that long to have dinner. They had a band that started at 6pm so dinner conversation was impossible. The band was horrible and maybe should have been Irish since it was St Pattys day. The place was filthy, the table cloth had brown crab paper over a crusty table cloth that has never been washed. Bugs in the ladies room, and the stench of mildew, dirty sinks and floors. People dancing on the carpet in front of the crappy band because dinner tables are on what is/was the dance floor. I’m still trying to figure that out. All the restaurant décor is bar signs and beer posters. This went from a restaurant with a bar to a bar that serves lousy food. With the new places coming into what used to be laurel mall, Sullivan’s better step it up or they will close up. I don’t recommend going to Sullivan’s. It was great when Pat Sullivan owned it.

We were on our way home from DC to Baltimore, and it was taking 3 hours to get from A to B. We gave up on the traffic and looked for some place nearby where we could just get some good food and take a break from the miserable weather and traffic jam. We found Sullivan’s using a quick search on a restaurant discount site, and decided to give it a go since the bf had heard good things about this place. It was early on a Saturday evening, and there were people lining the bar, but not crowded/packed. The restaurant appeared mostly empty, with the exception of a large group in the back(maybe 25 people?). We sat ourselves at a small booth in the bar area, and waited for someone to come over and greet us, take drink orders, and provide menus. And then we waited some more. We literally did not see anyone that we considered to be an employee in the bar area at all. It was close to 10 minutes(no exaggeration) before someone came out from the back and hurried over to us and apologized. She said something about the credit card machine had gone down, and she seemed clearly frazzled. Okay, fine, I’ll give you a pass on that. Our drinks came and we placed our food orders. We had each chosen a draft beer, but the bf said his tasted like the pipes needed to be flushed. The bartender traded it out no problem for a bottled beer instead. My beer was fine, and I had a water, too. We never did get drink refills.(I usually have 2 – 3 glasses of water with each meal.) My meal included a side salad, which was fresh but boring. It was just lettuce, one slice of green pepper ring, one slice of tomato, and some slightly-rye croutons. The veggies were nice and crisp, so that was good. The chef’s knife could use some sharpening, though, because there were multiple chunks of lettuce stuck together where they didn’t get chopped all the way through. My meal was a rib-n-chicken combo, and I opted for the honey garlic glaze just because it sounded interesting and it was a break from barbecue(which I love, but this was a good chance for a change). The ribs were definitely fall off the bone tender, and the glaze was sweet and sticky. The chicken breast was cooked perfectly. Just a slight char from the grill, but plump and juicy inside. However, after several bites, I started to realize this honey-garlic combo reminded me of an old homeopathic tea remedy I had tried once when I was sick. Granted, the glaze was much better than the tea concoction, but I realized if I am ever back here again that maybe I’ll just stick with the classic bbq glaze instead. The bf is a steak lover, so he had the rib-eye. Unfortunately, he kills it because he likes it cooked medium-well. He was very happy with his meal(and even though it was overcooked for my taste, it was still juicy and flavorful). Both of our meals included fries, which were hot and crunchy and seasoned well. I would say it’s worth another go if we happen to be back that way again. I would be willing to try some other things on the menu, but I really wouldn’t mind having another rib-n-chicken combo again.

I’d rather eat in a prison cafeteria. Probably looks better kept. Still the same old crack heads hanging around out front begging for money. Bartenders look like they’ve been bartending there their whole life. Would be nice to see some young ladies behind the bar. Place seems to be on its last leg.

I went into Sullivans on a Saturday for dinner. The bar was packed, the restaurant was completely empty(save for the older gentlemen that sat us getting a back massage from, what I thought was a customer but could have been a waitress). I was at and the waitress came out. She was young, seemed new but, i had no issue. She was sweet. Looking over the menu, nothing really jumped out at me. I got the Prime Rib Sandwich. Described as, a prime rib sandwich served open-faced on Italian bread with a side of au jus; served with fries. For just under $ 12, this sounded great. When the plate came out, it was a slab of prime rib on top of Texas Toast. I told the waitress I ordered the sandwich and she said, ‘That is the sandwich. The bread is under the meat’. I’ll be damned! There was a piece of soggy bread under there. However, if you were to take this plate ANYWHERE on the planet and ask ANYONE what kind of sandwich it was, I dont think anyone would say a prime rib sandwich served open face. They’d say, it was a prime rib on a piece of soggy toast. When the older gentleman was done his back rub, he came up to the table and I explained to him the difference between a Prime Rib on toast and an open-face Prime Rib sandwich on Italian bread. His answer was, ‘Well, this isn’t a New York Deli’. Yeah, I can tell. Look, getting a Prime Rib for $ 12 is a good deal, but, it wasnt really what I had wanted. I’m sure I’m not the only person that has told them that the menu wording was misleading. I also got charged for the fries. The waitress did fix that, however. The misleading Prime Rib sandwich notwithstanding, I wasn’t overly impressed. While there aren’t many great options for dinner in this area, there are better options. I don’t think I’ll be back.

Came here because reviews were good. I am disappointed. Good steaks. Sad salads(except for the croutons). Onion straws are rings cut in half. Service ok. It’s a bar, first and foremost. Redskins and beer. Not going back.

I hadn’t been to this place in years and was visiting the Dutch Market across the street and decided to stop in here with the MIssus for a bite. It was probably about 2-ish and there were people at the bar but not too many people in the booths and tables. They were getting ready for the evening event which I can’t remember might have been kareoke or a small band. In any case, we were squeezed into a table for our late lunch/early dinner. It was good. SInce this is a steak place, we order the steaks and they came out just like we ordered them and the baked potato and coleslaw was good. The ambiance is strictly honky tonk bar which is fine because you don’t need to get dressed up to have a decent meal. Prices are decent and the persona who waited on us was great.

Came here on a Sunday evening for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Sitting at the bar, we ordered a rack of ribs and the shepherd’s pie. Both were enjoyable and good. The bartender was extremely friendly, cracking jokes and helping us with the best items on the menu. The biggest surprise we had was learning that the restaurant purchases all of their meat from the fresh Amish market across the street. That explains why the ribs were so good! Stop by here if you’re looking for a friendly environment filled with locals and good, fresh food to boot.

Nice friendly neighborhood place. When I go, it is for the entertainment(Thursdays — great music starting at 7) and live Trivia on Wednesday evenings. Thursday night has a two for one burger that is really popular. The wings and the crab dip are really good. This is a super place to meet with friends and enjoy a nice casual atmosphere.

There are times when I’m in the mood for a really elegant dining experience. And then there’re times when I want the down-home experience: good home cooking Americana style, with time-tested traditional favorites. It is in this area that Sullivan’s shines. I’ve eaten there a few times now and every time it’s been a sumptuous meal. Terri, the owner personally attends to every customer whether it’s taking their order or just popping by their table to see how things are. For lunch I love the shepherds pie. Very tasty and definitely sticks to your ribs. For dinner you can’t go wrong with the New York strip and a baked potato. We love the décor too. The fireplace makes you feel like you’re in your own family room. I should also mention that starting at 9 o’clock on the weekends the restaurant turns into a live music venue. It’s not the typical bar scene filled with drunks. The patrons tend to be real music lovers that are there to see the bands not just hang out and drink. Sullivan’s is definitely one of those places that we hope doesn’t get too popular. We like it the way it is.

I’ve eaten at this place twice. The first time, about a year ago and it was just was maybe a 3-star rating. I figured I would give it another chance just recently. Boy was that a bad idea! First impressions when you walk in, is that this is a bar primarily, that just so happens to serve food.(I told myself not to get my hopes up about this meal.) And lets just say my expectations weren’t far off the mark. The restaurant side of the house was large and empty. We walked in and seated ourselves with no hostess or servers in sight. The décor was dark and gloomy and gave no indication of the sunny day outside. We placed our order and began the wait… it took about 40 minutes before we saw any food at all. My little girl was getting agitated over the long wait and so was Daddy! I got the fish and chips and the wife got a burger and fries. We quickly noticed that all the fried food tasted like fish and burnt oil. This is an obvious sign of a frie’er that hasn’t had the oil changed out in a VERY long time. To be brutally honest I was disgusted with the food and couldn’t eat it at all. To summarize: Décor– Dark and miserable Service– Mediocre at best Cleanliness– Not good, even for a bar! Food Quality– Poor! In my opinion, this place needs a face-lift, some added lighting, a thorough cleaning and a new chef. Dine here at your own risk people. ~The Guru
