After my initial post, which I fully expected to go unnoticed, the community manager actually reached out for more information about the incident that occurred. They ended up rectifying the situation by refunding us for our water that was used by the landscaping company which was unexpected. Overall I still don’t believe there’s any excuse for taking over a week to respond to an e-mail. The most important thing anyone can do in a service industry is communicate. I’m glad everything was sorted out in the end though, I’m sure most management companies would have just ignored us or asked for concrete proof before implementing a refund.

I have been working with Necole and she’s been VERY helpful. It has been wonderful to be able to talk to someone when we had an issue. She was responsive with emails and followed up afterwards. I have worked with other HOAs and none have done anything close to what Necole has done to help us. Thanks!

I have lived in the sonrisa community for three years now. When I first moved here the properties were very well landscaped and the entire neighborhood was always clean. During the last six months I have made two phone calls regarding the state of the neighborhood and all of the trash that is being thrown out in the streets. There have been no return calls. Residents and their visitors or it could even be strangers are throwing their trash literally out into the street and it is left there for days and sometimes even weeks before it gets picked up. I often find myself just going around the neighborhood just picking up anything I can just to get rid of it. Right outside the gate on the main road there is always broken glass bottles and empty alcohol containers left out in the middle of the street. Also, in front of a lot of the homes, residents are flicking their cigarette butts into the rocks it is pretty simple to know who’s doing it because it is right in front of their house and there are literally dozens beyond dozens of cigarette butts just sitting there. There needs to be more supervision and more communication with the residents about picking up trash. Letting our community diminish like this brings down property values and homeowners find it difficult to rent out or even try to sell because the condition of the properties are so trashy from everyone coming around and using it as a dumpsite. There have been a lot of new people moving in and out of the neighborhood so I am assuming that might have something to do with it but there need to be more diligent in keeping our neighborhood clean and I think our HOA needs to be more aggressive in keeping these areas in a good state of police

What a huge boondoggle working with Colonial as everything was going good when their dictator Trish demanded Heather our Colonial manager dump our association. Out of nowhere and would not give a reason. Heather was a very good manager and she and I had the complex on an easy roll due to good communication and consistant maintenance. The departure was sudden and Trish would not ALLOW any further communication with Heather. Trish nor Heather would attend the last meeting the were still obligated and paid to attend etc. This behavior has left us with great concerns over financial management and thus an audit has been ordered. Run don’t walk from Colonial cuz walks like a duck quacks like a duck…

Colonial manages the complex I live in. My review is based on the experience I had over a 3 month period with a gate issue. First of all the gates consistently have a problem. They do not do preventative maintenance only reactive which is very slow. Due to their lack of obsolescence management our gate was down for nearly 2 months. They dragged their feet getting quotes and then finally scheduling a repair. They did not communicate what was going on until a week before the replacement of the gate computer system. I emailed several times and responses were hit or miss. When I did get a response it was not informative and I had to send follow up emails to get to the truth. I hope the HOA finds another company to mange our properties because Colonial is not doing a very good job.

As a former homeowner in which Colonial was our HOA, I must say the few times that I have had to deal with them they have been extremely nice, professional and addressed all concerns promptly. I honestly can not say anything negative about them.

I have called 3 times since Thursday, and left polite messages. No phone call returned. I have emailed 6 times, to the HOA manager and to his assistant. Reponses have come 1 day later or hours later. Instead of just speaking with me on the phone and resolving the issue, this company seems to ignore owners/residents. My issue? I want a simple pool key. They are 25 miles round trip from the HOA. They close at 5pm. YOUWOULDTHINK, they would be respectful of customers and honor a simple request like mailing a pool pass. Or at least discuss it with me? No. Return my phone call. No. This is why HOA management companies get such nasty reputations, they treat people like crap.

This company is my main contact with my HOA and they have been fantastic to deal with. Sure I still get the usual violation notices but the difference is I can communicate with a live person to get any issues resolved quickly and painlessly. Theresa helped me obtain approval from my HOA in lightening fast speed for a home improvement project. I send her an email and it is usually answers in under five minutes. Kudos!
