Dan’s Coney Island

First experience today. I ordered Dan’s Griddle Breakfast. I chose the waffle and bacon with over medium eggs, with a side of strawberries for my waffle. My companion ordered the pancake special with a side of American fries. As soon as the waitress arrived with our food I spotted concerns that made me want to leave. The American fries where almost black! oh boy, so was the bacon. Our waitress informed me they where out of strawberries and would I like blueberries or pecans on the side… PFFFT, why wasn’t I asked this prior to bringing me this plain waffle. Maybe I would have wanted the blueberries or nuts IN the waffle… I made a comment to my companion, oh your potatoes eewww! He says nah it’s okay I like them a little dark. He proceeds to take a bite and spit it out. They were almost raw in the middle. The waffle was not crispy in the least. It was soft and likely the same batter as the pancakes. Our eggs were brown… I hate brown eggs. All of our food appeared to have been cooked at too high of a temperature. Maybe they should look for someone who can cook… We left without eating the waffle, the potatoes or the bacon. Seriously Denny’s makes food better LOL. Thankfully our waitress understood and our charge was adjusted. We will not be back for breakfast. Who ever says this place is as good as the Golden Harvest is NUTS. The Harvest is creative with ingredients you can not find on the menu here. The food is not cooked properly to measure up to the Harvest. DO NOT believe that post. This place is nothing remotely close. We will try a lunch here at Dan’s and review…
Lunch: Flavorless burger… No seasoning at all. After a few bites I noticed the lettuce on my burger had rotten spots. My companion did like his chicken tenders, but they are just from a bag and dropped into a fryer so what’s not to like right lol. Under his tenders was lettuce with rotten spots. Once again we did not finish our food. I did take photos for my page and I’m debating if I want to post them here as well.
While our service was good on both occasions, I won’t be back to Dan’s. This is just not my idea of food worth paying for.

They replaced Grumpy’s restaurant and they have pretty good food. It is the typical Coney island restaurant. Friendly wait staff and quick service.

I decided to try someplace new. Save yourself a disappointing trip and go someplace else.

Dan’s is truly an undiscovered treasure!!! The wait staff could not be more attentive. The food is OUTSTANDING!!! The atmosphere is casual; you seat yourself and within 30 seconds a waitress is at your side asking what you would like to drink and handing you a menu. Speaking of which, the entire menu is available all day (I had coney dogs at 9:30 a.m. just because I could.) My wife had a traditional breakfast. The bacon was incredible. Dan uses a hamburger press to get the bacon extra crispy. Truly, one of the best casual dining experiences you could have.

I hesitate to write this, because I don’t want there to be huge lines, but honestly this breakfast is right up there with Golden Harvest. I’m not kidding. The service is great, but the food… oh the food. We’ve been there three times, and it gets better each time.
