Absolutely the BEST kept secret in Lancaster County. FANTASTIC food, enormous portions and great staff. It is better than all those smorgasbords.

Eat here for breakfast and it was less than special. The food was greasy. Didn’t finish half of it. The coffee was bitter and there was a large group of older guys that kept givinge the evil eye. I’m guessing they were regulars the way the server treated them but non to friendly. The service was present. But this is a below average greasy spoon.

This is one of those places I’m hesitant to review because I want to keep it secret. Ate there for two meals. Dinner was good. Home style, gravy, lots of carbs, great PA local side dishes(cucumber salad, pickled eggs). Not gourmet mind blowing, but good and reliable. Breakfast was awesome. Huge portions, sausage the size of a burger, pancake the size of the plate. They also avoid the common over flat or over puffiness of giant pancakes. Only complaint was the hash browns– really bland. But I’m getting pancakes next time so it won’t matter. Service is excellent. Joni is a blast. Will be back. And they deliver to hotels!

Really a great«down home» diner!!! As soon as you walk in, and are greeted by Joni it’s as if you’re home… but you don’t have to cook :) Joni’s meatloaf was OUTSTANDING!!! I’m usually not a fan of eating meatloaf outside of my own kitchen. .but I am really glad that I did!!! Portion size was great and really quite inexpensive for all you get! ! Unfortunately I was not as hungry as I should of been and couldn’t finish my dinner… I really, really wanted to. We also ordered just a plain ol grill cheese sandwich that was accompanied by fresh french fries and there too… perfect! !! Because we are just passing through, I now have another mission… get back to Smoketown, PA. If you passing by Lancaster County and are a bit hungry, pull off and stop by. It’s not far off the Hwy, follow Unilocal directions and you will mot be disappointed!!! Wonderfu food, people and great price!!! If you don’t see a lot of people there, you’ve come at a good time and your lucky! ENJOY…

I’ll give some facts. –Nice owner. Especially nice. –Small place, old, kind of dated. This place is someone’s American dream and is a local business. –We were the only ones there. I liked the country music that was playing. Couldn’t have asked for better service from the owner herself. Food: Lots of carbs, minimal protein. (I actually was hungry when I left and ate leftovers when I got home. Part of this is my fault. I’m a fitness person, I eat low-carb, high protein. I maintain low body fat) I ordered the turkey hot sandwich($ 10) which came with fries and was on two slices of bread. I planned on not eating the bread, just the meat. From the reviews, I had to try the fries(like four of them). The fries were homemade. There was about two ounces of turkey. I weigh all of my food and count protein grams, so I’m good at eye balling things. So, there wasn’t much I was going to eat. I was going to offer to pay more to get more turkey but that would have been weird to ask, so I didn’t. The French fries were overflowing. Bread and potatoes are cheap. Protein is not. My husband ordered an omelet with bacon and homefries and toast. This was $ 8. She asked what kind of toast, he said raisin, which came from the list she said, and she asked if he wanted onions in the hash browns. She didn’t mention an upcharge. We were charged .10 extra for raisin toast and .50 extra for onions. I obviously don’t care about .60 but I found that really petty. It was our first time here. Really? Nickel and dime like that?(Literally). So, $ 8.60 for an omelet with bacon, hash browns, and toast. The hash browns were done in some ingenious way, like they looked like an omelet. They can do potatoes here. Will I return? No. I actually called Jennie’s diner after I left to order an open turkey sandwhich. Nobody answered, hence the leftovers at home. I have never had to get more food after eating at a restaurant before. When we like a place, we will go weekly and I had high hopes.

Stumbled upon this restaurant on vacation and so happy we did! Chopped steak and mashed potatoes were amazing! My mom was so happy about the cucumber salad — said she hadn’t tasted it like that since she was a kid in Iowa. This is legit, home style cooking at its best. Huge portions, amazing value! Don’t miss!

Stopped in with my wife and daughter for a quick diner lunch. Great home style food, diner style. Try the Reuben. It’s big enough for two. I also recommend the fries. Fresh cut and crispy, moist in the center and flavored well. We will be back to try breakfast or dinner in the future.

Heard her say she is the new owner so if you haven’t been recently it is under new ownership. Good homemade food. Fried chicken was delicious and the Pennsylvania chicken pot pie was very tasty. We shared a slice of Raspberry pie with homemade whipped cream, excellent! The choices of hot sandwiches were tempting. Even homemade meatloaf on the menu. People were very nice and service was good. The only thing negative I can say is they need some fresh made vegetables to chose as sides.

Great service. Very kid friendly. Good homemade food. Very nice people. Good prices. I got the pork chop special while Krisi got the butterball turkey platter. My special included a slice of pie. Lil’B got the kids meal meatloaf. French fries are fresh cut with the skins on. Malt vinegar is available. Very nice experience.

Don’t let the website or ambience keep you away from the incredibly wonderful home-cooked goodness of this restaurant. Super friendly staff, excellent food and great prices. A must-dine in this area!

There’s a comfort in a down home diner, and taking a break from Lancaster Ave, away from the outlets, for a relaxing lunch at Joni’s was just what we needed. Nothing fancy — just good food and a friendly server. We would certainly come back again.

The food was pretty good .very very greasy… even for a diner. The place itself is disgusting inside. It smelled like a basement and didn’t looked clean at all. We almost left before ordering but we were the only people there and both the waiter and cook were sitting at a table near us… very uncomfortable. Again, food was flavorful. If you are craving greasy diner food go for take out.

Wonderful breakfast! Ate here today with my husband and young son… We had two breakfast specials: one omelette and the sausage and biscuits, our son had the mickey mouse pancake. Best sausage gravy I ever tasted! Home fries were awesome, the coffee strong and the waitstaff warm and friendly. Perfect meal.

My family and I have been following Joni to whatever restaurant she’s at for years and we are never disappointed. If crab cakes are on special you must try them! Her cheesesteaks are fantastic too, made with her own special seasoning. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you won’t be disappointed.

Stopped in for lunch today. Wife had tuna sandwich and I had bacon cheeseburger. Both were awesome. Very large portions and a huge side of homemade fries. Service was spot on. Ice tea was a little weak… but not a huge deal. Certainly plan on returning in the future.

Came for a late breakfast with our 5 kids on our annual vacation. A perfect diner. Good kids choices(pancakes), good omelettes. Nice extra thoughts like great sourdough toast(delivered from Philly, I was told). Great friendly service. Looking forward to next year.

Awesome breakfast! If you’re looking a real Pennsylvania style home cooked meal for the family, Joni’s is the place to go! Excellent service, excellent food, prices are dirt cheap. I can’t come up with a single complaint, serving breakfast all day!
