Wasabi Sushi Bar

Wonderful place. I have been there many times. Food is awesome and the staff is wonderful. I have a Boxer that we take down to Belmar and walk around. Wasabi’s has always let our Boxer sit on the patio with us and they bring her water. Other places close by there make us keep her on the other side of the fence. Love their happy hour and the Groupon deal is great.

I certainly don’t think that this place deserves all of its bad reviews. Our server was very sweet and attentive! The food was mediocre, but I’m from LA, so I’m used to very fresh sushi. The location is nice. The bathrooms are cool. The tea dispensers are cool.
Worth it for happy hour or the sushi boat.
And the wasabi shrimp is really good! 4.5

We frequent Wasabi and have had decent experiences. We came here tonight before a movie, we were seated quickly, but then waited 20 minutes without a single person coming to the table. We finally went up and asked if someone would be coming to our table and were told they are on the way. After another 15 minutes still no one. We finally just left. The hostess who we had already talked to about no one coming to the table was standing there watching us leave and didn’t say a word. Very disappointing since the place only had a couple of tables, not nearly as busy as usual.

Well that was disappointing. I guess that’s what I get for going to a «Japanese inspired» sushi bar.

The food itself was wonderful and remarkably affordable. Our sushi came out on a boat and it was so good we finished it all! The host greeted us with a welcoming smile and kindly let us know we had to wait for a table without upsetting my parent (Which is difficult to do!) It was a bit inappropriate and unprofessional when a server yelled at the hostess, which is the reason for only 3 stars, but other than that, the food and wait staff and hostess were great!

The restaurant was great. We had outside seating on an enjoyable night. Candy our server was really good and was good with the kids. Very comfortable, great sushi and wonderful staff.

If I could give this restaurant no stars I would! We Come here all the time and after today we will never ever return! Worst service ever! We asked for something and was told no! We needed a straw and water and she rolled her eyes! Made us feel like we were bothering her! Worst part is she followed us to our vehicle to Harass us about the tip we left her! We went back inside to talk to the manager and she was making excuses for her employee which is not ok! After reading some Unilocal and Twitter reviews this isn’t the first time employees and the manager have followed someone to their car to harass them! So lucky I didn’t press charges on her!

This place has lasted awhile, but it is mediocre at best. A few times I stopped in and left immediately because it smelled dirty, like mildew or mold (not fishy). But that isn’t to say I have only negative experiences.
It is a good spot during happy hour. I haven’t experienced bad service like many of the other reviews mention, but the staff could be more knowledgeable. The fish also never seems very fresh, which isn’t surprising in Colorado, as there is no near by ocean. However, there definitely more quality Japanese restaurants in Denver. I also was not a fan of the seaweed salad because I was given mostly cucumber, it would greatly improve if the salad was just seaweed as it is called ‘seaweed salad’.
All in all, not great and not terrible either. If you’re in Belmar its definitely convenient (:

This sushi place is by far the cleanest, tastiest, and most beautiful sushi resteraunt I have ever been to. Try their fried mint ice cream! You won’t regret it.

WOW! Have been here many times in the past and have never had service this bad. Was seated right away, but next to an open door on a cloudy 59 degree day. Service started off fine, then got real bad after our order was taken. Not only did the waitress forget part of our order and not realize it until 20 minutes later. She also made us wait another 20 minutes for a beer which came in a dirty glass. We were not checked on throughout the meal and when it came time for the bill I asked to speak with a manager. Explained to the manager what a terrible experience we had and she said the most she could take off was 30%. She brought the adjusted bill back to the table and it wasn’t even the 30% she promised. So I left her the correct amount amount in cash.
Here’s the best part, the manager and the waitress actually chased us into the parking lot. When we showed the manager on a calculator what the bill should have been she asked us to never return

To be fair, I don’t eat sushi, so I may not be the best person to write a review. That said, there were things I noticed that I’ll pass along.
First, the happy hour menu is pretty extensive and reasonably priced. If you’re looking for a unique happy hour location, this may be it.
Next, the options for non sushi eaters are fairly robust. I had some fried rice, beef teriyaki, potstickers and edamame. Not a bad selection, and there were other items I could have chosen.
That said, there were a few things that weren’t my favorite. The tables are so close together that you’re practically on top of people at nearby tables. I’m well traveled and well aware of the fact that we tend to need/​like more personal space than necessary in the US, but this could be solved with rectangular or square tables versus round tables.
Also, the service was mediocre (my water glass was empty for a large portion of the evening and then filled all of the time-​weird) and the food was SO salty. Super dehydrated today.
Solid choice for value and menu range, but not a place I’ll seek out.

Absolutely pathetic you’re closed on a Sunday night because the denver donkeys are in the super bowl.

Best Sushi in town, great attentive staff, great variety, and great flavors. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for sushi.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE service! The waitress that I had was AWEFUL never came to get our order nor even get our drinks waiting 10 minutes and we left. NEVER COMING BACK HERE.

Great staff! I always have a great experience… But one in particular stands out…
We Picked up take out for New Years eve.
When we arrived the place was packed with several large parties who were lingering far past the norm.
So there was a huge line and wait for seats. People were being horrible to the staff and hostess who couldn’t very well kick people out of seats. There was a 45 minute wait by the time we left. Nevertheless the staff and especially the hostess handled it all with grace and a smile. She was so sweet and deserves to be canonized! The food is always great, especially the tamago and the apple sake!

Went here recently on a Monday night. Walked in and it was packed! Was not expecting that at all. Turns out, they have really great specials on Monday nights. We had to put our name in for a table, waiting about 15 minutes and were seated at the bar. I actually thought the bar seating was great, not your typical high top bar seats and just as comfortable as a table for two people in my opinion.
We ordered some saki & a beer — one of the drink specials that came with both. Picked out several different rolls from the happy hour/​Monday special menu. Really enjoyed everything we ordered, a few of the rolls could have been wrapped together tighter. A few pieces were difficult to pick up because they would start to fall apart as soon as you picked them up.
Overall, I enjoyed this place and its close to where I live. Will def be back and try some of the other sushi rolls from the main menu.

The sushi here is pretty great. I love how it comes out in a boat.
The playboy roll is my favorite. Also if you check in you can get some free edamame!
Last time I was there though it was freezing inside! I was actually worried I was getting sick but I looked around and almost everyone had their coats on still so it wasn’t just me. It was worth it for the food though!

I wish I could give this place 10 stars instead of just five. My wife and I are habitual sushi lovers and this is on the top of our short list of favorites. We recently moved to Denver and we’re excited to find that Wasabi wasn’t far away! On this visit, we ordered the spicy salmon, geisha, spicy scallop and asparagus rolls. All were fantastic! Something that we both mentioned was the spicy salmon was chopped rather than puréed. The sauce in both the salmon and scallops was delicate and didn’t take away from seafood’s flavor. To top it off… Both figuratively and literally, was a smokey spice… Chortle/​adobo mixture possibly… That resonates on your pallet. After meeting Mr. Lee, the owner of this location, we’ve see how passion and appreciation of quality makes for an exceptional Dining experience.

Really Great! The staff was super accommodating, we were 30 min late for our reservation & we mentioned we were running late & they really hurried up! We even had a groupon and checked in and got the free edamame & they were super ok with it and not annoyed at all! The food was fresh and creative and the saki went down smooth, I didn’t get the servers name or the host but both were super sweet and personable! Deft coming back!
