Some of the best sushi thus far! Plus you have a great view of sloans lake! The one thing I would suggest is patio seating. Hurs if there’s no space that can’t happen!

We arrived at the end of happy hour towards the beginning of dinner time. We tried to order fresh oysters, but was immediately told«no oysters. Finished. No more». No apologies, nothing. Upon noticing the sour look on my face, the server came back and said they had half a dozen left, which they agreed to let me order. We ordered two sushi rolls from their happy hour menu in addition to the oysters. There was minimal fish on the sushi rolls. The fish on top was thin, which was ok. My problem was with the blended fish inside of the rolls which were filled with tempura fillers. There was barely any fish and mostly tempura. Overall, food sucked, service sucked and we will not be back.

Sickening food and customer service. I’ve been ordering and eating sushi for twenty years. I’ve never had a crunchy roll served the way they did. All three rolls looked and tasted exactly the same– terrible. Too salty, void of any fish flavor, DRYDRYDRY. The fish had all been blended with some crunchy carb junk. See photos. I complained, and he said«that’s the way it is.» I told them to take it away and bring my bill. No discount even though we hadn’t touched our dinners! $ 57 for apps, tea, miso, salad and a roll. When I complained about the bill, waiter said, «we’re not the ones who made the mistake.» Well you’re right, I made the mistake of picking your rip-off joint to begin with. Will NEVER be back.

One word: disappointed… in how I never knew this place existed before now! The food here is so good! So fresh! I ordered delivery and went with the Salmon Skin Salad, Saba sashimi, Hamachi sashimi, Chicken Gyoza, and fried bananas for dessert. Everything was cooked to perfection!(Except the sashimi, of course) :) Delivery only took about 30 minutes(even though the estimate said about 45 – 55 minutes), and everything was its correct temperature when it arrived(I imagine it would be hard to keep the sashimi cool, and everything else warm). I ordered delivery this time, but I’ll definitely be stopping by in person soon! PS. Sorry, no pictures this time… everything was eaten before I even realized it! Haha :)

This sushi was fresh, we had eel and salmon that had NO fishy smell or taste. Just beautiful texture. There was minimal rice used and it was perfect! No sticky lump that turns into paste in your mouth. The spicy crab salad is spicy and crunchy and yummy. We also found a bottle of sake that was lychee flavored and it was fragrant, floral and not too sweet, served cold without the typical sake kick. I’m a light weight and I loved it. I will definitely be back!

First and foremost, all-you-can-eat sushi on Sundays! We have had several friends tell us about how great the sushi is at Shiso, and they were not lying!!! Not only did we stumble upon all-you-can-eat sushi, we also discovered a fantastic happy hour. The sushi was P-E-R-F-E-C-T. It was one of the few sushi bars where we could not determine what roll we wished we would have skipped! Ha! The quality of fish was excellent. The staff was super attentive and the overall customer service /customer experience is definitely«best in class». To top it off, the restaurant has amazing views of Sloans Lake and Downtown Denver. I would highly recommend this as a «must try» if you are visiting or live in the area!!!

Delicious! Creative and traditional rolls, prepared beautifully with fresh ingredients! We haven’t been in the restaurant, but had it delivered by Grub Hub– fast and easy! Highly recommend the peppered tuna sushi, asparagus rolls, and the Shaggy Dog– yum!

I really wanted to enjoy my meal… Tonight the restaurant was pretty mellow. As I get seated the waitress puts the menus as far away from me as possible and disappears. When the waitress takes out drink order she figured that water wasn’t enough for my husband and stood there staring at him and asked just water? Yes staring at me won’t help. Once I get my water I ask for a straw. She proceeds to bus a table next to us putting both of her hands inside the glasses that have been used by who knows who. She walks over to grab my straw and takes the wrapping off of it. Mind you not taking any time to wash her hands. Shortly after we watch her clear a table, take the sushi bar and set them down. She proceeds to grab a plate of sushi and deliver to customers. The dirty dishes with half eaten food were left on the clean sushi bar for about 5 minutes before she came back to them. Once she picked them up she didn’t even clean the surface where customers eat. When I asked for a new water and a straw that she didn’t open that was like making a horse drink water. Once my husband explained it twice she understood. The sushi came out… Shrimp tempura roll was as cold as if it came out of a refrigerator same with the tempura sweet potato roll. The one good item we ordered was the spicy garlic edamame(ordered without spice). Again asking for no spice on that was a task. We also asked if one of the appetizers were made here or came out of a box her reply was«we have that here it’s an appetizer». I’d love to love this place but I just can’t.

Really wanted this place to be good. Service was decent but slightly aloof. Food was ok, but small in portion compared to price and either served cold when it should be warm/hot and vice versa. My biggest gripe is the cleanliness. We watched the hostess/waitress clean tables and collect dirty dishes and then directly handle fresh plates of food with out washing her hands. A few tables were left to molder long after the guests left and trash was still on the floor. I can understand if it was busy or under staffed that tables were left dirty but lack of hand washing is uncalled for.

This is the best sushi place I’ve been to in Denver hands down! The service was wonderful and the sushi didn’t take long at all. We had a couple of different rolls and they were all amazing, but the mango roll was definitely my favorite. I will most definitely be coming back here! Also, they deliver! :)

Great place for sushi! Their happy hour prices are unbeatable. The only thing I wish they would change is their music… But I highly recommend the food.

Last night was a blast at Shiso Sushi & Oyster Bar! The sushi was ridiculously delicious. Our hostess was nice, courteous, and highly attentive. We ordered a lot of rolls which included: The appetizer of vegetable gyoza, and the dynamite dish. The rolls consisted of Black and regular dragon rolls, the mango roll, the Las Vegas roll, and the New York roll. Oh, so very impressive! Definitely a worth to take a look at to stop by to dine in. Enjoy!

I’ve been here once, and my view of this place is probably biased because it was uniquely exciting. There was a really violent thunderstorm that night and lightning striking just past the lake, and the lights flickering. However, there were plenty of places that night where you couldn’t see the light show, and it was visible from Shiso because of good interior design and large windows. This place really won me over while my wife was pregnant. She could only eat cooked rolls, and she had a powerful craving for sushi. I called and asked them which rolls were fully cooked, and they walked me through some options and made our order without tobiko/masago. I appreciated their flexibility and care in helping us out. Cool place in my book, and the sushi is great too!

Shiso is consistently excellent. I know every time I go I can expect excellent service and superb sushi. The fish is always fresh and the menu is extensive. I recommend everything really but in particular I love the Shaggy Dog roll. The staff is familiar with me as I go at least twice a month for the last five years. I decided to review Shiso first because I wantend my first review to be positive as I love dining out. They are dependable and also great with children. If you are looking for a place that is low key but not low brow, you can’t go wrong with Shiso!

Since my first post 4 years ago I have been a regular customer of Shiso. It’s my first choice for sushi. I love that they don’t wrap the outer parts in seaweed, their golden mussels are better than anyone else’s, and I’ve met the roll love of my life there… the Mexico roll. Tuna, spicy cream cheese, and jalapeño deep fried with special sauce. The numerous times that I have been I have never had anything except the most fresh delicious sushi. Their lunch specials are among the best and their AYCE on Sundays is outstanding.

I’ll give them 5 as it was my first time in. Daughter and I eat sushi a bit but far from pros. Pleasant surprise with happy hour and great prices on fish and a beer. The unagi everything was delicious we ate 6 pieces and a roll. The tuna was as fresh as it gets and the star was the sea urchin. «Dad, that tastes like the sea and butter». I’m pretty sure I made a foodie. The rolls were good but the fish was delicious so may just stick to that next time.

I’ve been living in denver for 2 years now and I just recently decided to get over my phobia of eating sushi in a landlocked state. Truth is, even in California most of the sushi restaurants use frozen fish so nothing to be afraid of right? Shiso is great because the sushi boys actually know how to make sushi! Meaning they don’t try to cut costs by slicing a small sliver of sashimi and put it on top of a mound of rice. The sushi always seems fresh and I’ve never had a bad cut. They have lunch specials that I’ve been taking advantage of, 2 modestly sized rolls with a side salad and miso soup. Perfect for me, but if you have a bigger appetite get the 3 roll meal deal. Overall I’ve been satisfied every time I come here, even when my baby makes a mess they smile and say not to worry about the mess. Thanks Shiso, see you soon!

We stopped in during Happy Hour and had a great meal that did not break the bank. Oysters are a buck and nigiri selections are $ 1 – 1.50. Of the several rolls we tried the Pacific was our favorite. My kids shared a bowl of udon which they could barely finish. The agadashi tofu is little more than deep fried tofu but this was pretty much the only thing we were unhappy with. Oh, and a Taylor Swift album was playing. Kinda odd but whatevs.
