This is my second reviewing this sushi spot and second time around is deferent. The place has improve but the costumer service is slow and not very inviting. The sushi is tasteless and bland at best. Fist thing, the rice ratio is bad, they make it seem like they don’t care about their craft. Many people have build a relationship with their favorite sushi chef but I’m not their to make friends, I’m there to eat and hoping to have a great time eating sushi. This place has taken that joy from me. Thanks. Believe me, go else where, this isn’t the best place for your sushi fix.

The wait for my order took terribly long, probably close to 35 – 40 minutes. My table only ordered a sashimi appetizer(4 pieces of tuna, 4 pieces of white fish, both unappealing and lacking freshness), shrimp tempura, a salmon skin salad, and a caliente roll. I can’t forget to mention as I chewed my first bite of the caliente roll I found it a little odd. There was something mixed in the spicy salmon that didn’t taste like anything and had an almost wet thin cardboard like texture. I knew it definitely was not spicy salmon so I carefully took it out my mouth and whaddya know… It wasn’t wet cardboard but it was a piece of paper towel. Great. Called over a server and quietly pointed it out, making sure clearly that I was not going to finish the rest of the roll. The server nervously paused in shock and goes«okay» and walked over to the kitchen without any indication of what would be done next. We got our bill after we were finished, thinking the roll would be comped but no such luck. We had to flag down another server who apologized and returned with a new bill, caliente roll comped. I appreciate the comp but it was still a mediocre roll even without the piece of paper towel inside.

Usually love this place! But service has really gone down! Of course we’ll be back because of the food, always good and tasty but service needs to improve.

Amazing sushi. One of my favorite places to come. They even do Togo orders. When you just want some for your lunch break or dinner for yourself lol

I had to come back to my review and revise this because I was trying to hurry as I was sitting there. First off, when we first got here, we got seated right away. Great, even with there being a full house. I haven’t been here in years and have noticed that this place was remodeled and is much more spacious and more bright inside. I was honestly excited because my bf and I was so hungry. Lol We ordered baked green mussels, sunrise, dragon, millennium roll and salmon sashimi. Not only did it take a long while for us to finally get our food, we even finished our drink and edamame prior and wasn’t asked if we wanted any refill. Inattentive waitress. My bf and I tried to flag the waitress down and when I got her attention, I asked if she can check on the status of our order. Finally, it came. The sushis got to the table first then followed with the baked green mussels that were cold, the mayo was hard and it wasn’t enjoyable at all … Second, the dragon roll had a random piece of tuna stuck under and in it? Not to mention, it wasn’t nicely rolled. There was a big slob of crab meat on each end of my roll that didn’t look appetizing at all. Plus the eel on my dragon roll was cold. Oh! And the rice was undercooked… My bf asked if I wanted hot sauce to drench it in so I can eat it and heck no. Lol we had so much left over I didn’t even want it Togo … So disappointed. Never again.

The rolls are awesome!!! Been coming here for years with my friends! But I have to say since they remodeled the place and gotten new employees the service has changed big time! & not in a good way, rude servers and lagging service I usually get it to go now!

I just had my worst dining experience here. It took 40 minutes to get my food! I was starving and very unhappy. There is no organization whatsoever. People came in after we ordered and they received their food before us! When we told the manager, she didn’t compensate for us waiting that long to get our food. She only checked to see if we received the rest of our food. The service was bad, we were asked how we were doing and she would walk away before we could even answer. They need to their customers or they’ll be out of business sooner rather than later. I will not come here ever again. The sushi is not worth the wait.

So my sister took me here for lunch today and we took a seat at the sushi bar. The three young sushi chefs I guess, are a team and must be new because they are super duper s l o w. We ordered #C Combo, two hand rolls, 4 pieces of sushi and we got our first piece of sushi about a half hour later, no lie. This usually is a great place to stop by, but this day was trying. And they got the order mixed up. Bad day but I’ve had more better days than bad here so yeah, of course we’ll be back.

Service has not improved at all. The staff is really friendly, but they are so dam unorganized ! We keep coming back for the food which is good, if you don’t mind waiting 30 mins to get your order and at differed times, we want all of our order at once!

Okay another shot, now to try their shabu since it took them a long time to open it, i was super excited to try it even though I had a bad experience last visit, but I love shabu too much to pass on this one, unfortunately another bad experience, what happened Mamma’s? You used to be my favorite but everything just fell apart, there were tables that are empty and not cleaned, customer service was better before. First, im not sure if they’re short staff but we came in a lot of space but no one to help we sat for a few and someone sat us down, she took our order, and of course looking through the menu I saw Waygu? and I asked the lady who was taking my order whats a Waygu? and all she said was«Oh, i don’t know, not sure.»(really? i thought staff should be trained first and foremost? I think its really important knowing what your restaurant serves and what it taste like because I know people sometimes would ask what you recommend the most.) But, I said nvm, and ordered the ribeye instead with the kombu. I googled«waygu» and found wagyu, and of course I would’ve ordered that if I knew all along what it was. We waited for our order for quite some time, she served the kombu first and turned on the stove, expecting for the meat, veggies and rice to come out asap, but no, I joked around saying ahh we’ll end up just frying our food, lol because it seriously took them about 15 – 20 mins, even my parents said maybe we should turn it off first because the water’s almost gone, finally she brought the rice and sauces, shortly the meat, and finally, the vegetable but had to ask her for the last plate of veggies, she had to come back twice for our vegetables because they were still cutting up the veggies, I only had 3 people in the table including me. Anyway, their goma is not the business, it tasted like rubber to me, or maybe I’ve had way better ones from a different shabu spot, but out of all of the shabu spots I’ve tried they have the worst goma sauce, I liked the ponzu, it tasted just like the other ones. The garlic, onion leeks, and radish, the garlic is not completely shredded?, there was a huge garlic that was not shredded all the way it was like small medium large type of thing, the onion leeks, was not cut thoroughly, and I asked for a refill, she gave me a tiny plate of leeks, I’ll post some photos. The meat was ok, I’ve had better. I was really hoping to have a better experience compare to my last visit. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I know for a fact it will better the business in the future, esp restaurants like this. Maybe I’ll come back and try once again or maybe not, idk we’ll see.

So ever since our beloved Tokyo Hibachi closed :(, my favorite guy and I have been on a quest for the next great sushi bar. Next on our list was Mama’s Sushi. We gave it a trial run last week with a take out order and decided that it was tasty enough for a dine-in experience. Mama’s sushi has two sides. One side is the sushi bar with table chairs and booths. On the other side is a Shabu restaurant which I will have to try one day. From what I’ve read on Unilocal, the place has recently undergone a makeover. It’s décor is cool with kind of a modern theme. We arrive around 9pm and there was no one at the sushi bar, so we were able to sit front and center with a super cool sushi chef. I immediately ordered my fav albacore sushi and it was really good, so I ordered some more. We then had 1 Quail egg shot, 2 Quail egg on smelt egg sushi, tuna poke with avocado, 2 pieces of yellowtail, firecracker, monkfish sashimi, asahi beer and a large sake… all for a grand total of =$ 53. 25!!! Oh yeah… we like some mama’s sushi!!! :)

I’ve heard about this place for many years and finally decided to give it a try. Nice looking place inside and open walkway into the Mamma Shabu Shabu next door. I believe every roll, including the specials were priced under $ 10 which is a plus if your on a budget. Quality of the sushi was good. Had a hard time eating some of the rolls as the seaweed wraps would come apart several times. Service was good, however I had to ask for wasabi and ginger as it was not presented with our meals.

The first shabu shabu that has soup with FLAVOR! Get the Sukiyaki! It comes with Ponzu sauce which is pretty good with the egg as dipping sauce for the meat :) I recommend any of the beef, prime or choice. Happy hour is 2−5pm $ 10.95 which is really cheap for shabu! Otherwise the regular is about $ 14 – 15

Mama’s is one of the better sushi places within its locale when it comes to taste and quality. As far as service, it isn’t the best especially if there are a few occupied tables. Ok, so it’s definitely a hit or miss each and every time! Kitchen items can take a little longer versus sushi coming from the sushi bar. Though that really depends on what you order and how many people ordered before you did. Price point is reasonable and comparable to other sushi restaurants. Their recent renovation was a success. The space in the sushi area didn’t get any larger but the new shabu wing is nice. The décor to both areas is sleek and modern. I’m sure many people are happy to see Mama’s new face-lift! Even though I’m not too enthused about the sushi, I wouldn’t mind trying their shabu out for the first time, so keep an eye out for that review.

I wanted shabu shabu one night so I decided to come here to find out that they’re not starting shabu shabu till next month. I almost was going to leave when I felt like some hot food with soup for dinner. I decided to just eat the restaurant when I already got there so I had the Napeyaki udon it wasn’t very tasty even when I added soy sauce and chili power it was still lacking flavor. This place seems more of a sushi place so maybe I should have ordered sushi then I was craving soup more than sushi. The green tea ice cream was ok not the best I have tasted. Maybe they added too much green tea and sugar that I should have considered mochi ice cream instead. I’ll be back soon to try the shabu shabu and sushi to give this place another chance.

I don’t understand some of you Unilocalers you guys are expecting too much out of these regular ass restaurants if u want better service go to Beverly hills Nobu… mamma sushi has some of the best sushi hands down and the service is great for what u pay for And for u princess customers all u have to do is look up and make eye contact with one of the waitresses and they well come to you! My favorite is the wake me up and lobster roll!!! They have a bomb lunch special I believe it lasts from 11−3p but don’t quote me on the times call first!

We got food poisoning. The service was decent. None of our drinks went empty and we were checked on frequently. Immediately upon being seated, we received the free edamame. We ordered rolls that had raw and cooked fish. Unfortunately, I wish I knew which roll(s) was the one that gave us food poisoning. We definitely won’t be coming back. The parking is plentiful since Fresh and Easy shut down in this plaza.

They’ve remodeled last time I’ve been here — so about a year ago. Interior is now more spacious and more modern. Decent prices and wide selection of specialty rolls. The Sunrise Roll is my favorite so far. A close second is the Sexy Roll, which has cream cheese and mango(two of my favorite things in the world)! I’ve also tried the Crunch Roll and the Mamma’s Special. They are generous with the tempura crumbs on the Crunch Roll, which I love. The Mamma’s Special is… interesting because it doesn’t come with wrap. For dessert, get the green tea tempura ice cream. It’s the best green tea tempura ice cream I’ve tried in any restaurant so far. Happy Hour is daily from 2−5pm. There are daily Early Bird Specials daily from 5 – 7. Sooo, technically there’s happy hour everyday from 2−7pm.
