Brought my girlfriend here and we really enjoyed the ninja tacos as well as the ninja fries! I definitely recommend this place, especially if you want to grab a quick bite to eat.

I absolutely love this place! James was so kind and helpful to give me recommendations as it was my first time here! All the selections look amazing but I had the death taco because I just love spicy food and I must say it is really spicy! So for those spicy-lovers out there, come here to try their death tacos!

I ate the Death Taco… Or did it eat me? The ninja fries were very good and I wish I could have enjoyed them before. I recommend them for anyone looking for a quick snack

Hmm okay. So walk up, B health rating… okay but the Unilocal people really love this place so I gotta sacrifice my health and try it. The menu is very interesting… fun to read! And good thing bc it took freaking forever to get my food. Also I’m positive that people who ordered before me got their food first, which was seriously weird. Didn’t think I ordered anything too crazy. The guy at the counter is for sure high and just doesn’t give a shit. At this point, I had kind of already pre-determined my Unilocal starrage based on service itself. I will say, their food was pretty good. I did enjoy it. But did it blow me away enough to bump up in stars? Nope, sorry. The ninja fries are pretty good, furious chicken kinda standard teriyaki bowl.

I finally got back here — they’re not so good that they’re worth driving all the way out from DTLB just to eat here, but definitely good enough to visit if you’re in the area, so I’d been wanting an excuse to try them again for forever. Finally got one, in that they’re not that far from Total Wine, where we were yesterday. We ordered a sweet potato fries to share, and each ordered 3 tacos for ourselves. The sweet potato fries were still excellent — 100% recommended. Knowing what I learned last time I was there, I got my tacos medium-spicy, which last time I was there, gave them a nice kick without being overpowering. I feel compelled to update this review mostly because either they messed up last time I was there, they messed up this time, or they changed something, because holy *crap* were the«medium”-spicy tacos this time freaking kick-your-mouth-in spicy. Jeez. Never doing that again. They really need a «medium» spicy sauce that’s actually a bit spicy without burning your face off, dang it. Other than that they were great, though… Unilocal checkin right now is just a free fountain drink… which I was *very* happy I got, after discovering how hot the tacos I’d ordered were…(all the sugar helped a little.)

Time to post an overdue review. My best friend and I were talking one day and he tells me «My son brought me here and man you gotta check this place out!» So I met him there one day and have been back twice since. SERVICE: Order and pay at the counter and they bring it to your table if you’re dining in. Staff has been friendly so far and food comes out of the kitchen quickly, like 5 — 10 minutes. FOOD: Prices are reasonable at $ 4-$ 10 per item. The Ninja tacos or Teriyaki sticks are just $ 1 each. A large beef & chicken combo«bowl» is $ 6.95 and I’m thinking the udon was $ 5.95. They also offer /are known for their«Zombie taco» & «Death taco» which is supposed to be super-über-crazy-dissolve-your-flesh-spicy. I’m sorry, I have no desire to cause myself extreme pain, so I refuse to even go there. Chicken teriyaki sticks — simple but good. Ninja Tacos — they come with both chicken & beef and are small, so order at least 3 or 4. They’re full of flavor and are very tasty, having a just enough heat to warm your mouth a slightly. Large chicken & beef teriyaki bowl. Nicely cooked, great flavor, very good. I prefer the chicken over the beef, but that’s just me and both are good. Udon noodle soup. Somewhat plain and simple, but also very tasty. Served very hot, I had to let it cool for more than 5 minutes before I could start enjoying it. One visit I decided to try a Pink Guava juice drink. I know it’s just a product they re-sell, but it was nothing special. OVERALL: Great little place with delicious Japanese inspired food, which apparently started life as a food truck.

Soooooo I wanted to have an epic bromantic date with a friend I haven’t seen in awhile. He heard about their ninja fries and how good they are. Before heading in we read some reviews and stumbled upon their dreaded death tacos. We made a firm decision to order ourselves one for the sake of keeping things epic. It was LEGEN-…wait for it One thing that needs mentioning is their zombie taco. It used to be 5x bigger and 10x hotter than their death taco. However, due to the sheer and overwhelming number of times their customers were vomiting after their first bite upon many other things, they had to reduce its level of spiciness. Which is why their death taco is now their spiciest item. The ambiance is nothing special. It is what you would consider your average Joe. The whole Korean, Japanese, Mexican fusion was fun and interesting in our mouths though. All we needed was a Japanese buddy to complete the equation. We started off with the ninja fries. I would rate it at a solid 3.8. It was visually pleasing with the colors so vibrant. The fries were a great crunchy texture which contrasted well with the other components. The cheese used is nacho cheese. Where some wouldn’t consider it to be a legitimate cheese, I stand and proclaim that I do not care. I think nacho cheese is aweeeeesome! With the ninja fries being minimally spicy, I found its flavor profile to be well balanced for the most part. Something I didn’t appreciate about the fries was its level of sweetness. With the overall item being on the heavier side, the overly sweet aspect made it difficult to eat towards the end. DEATHTACOOOOOO!!! The moment of truth has come!!! We started off with the ninja fries to prep our stomachs for the cute little dose of DEATH! We were told upon purchase to make sure we throw up in the bathroom or we’re responsible to clean up after ourselves. Apparently someone was sent to the hospital because their throat closed up. Perhaps the shear pain activated too much histamine release. All in all, the flavor components and visual presentation was pretty similar to the ninja fries. There didn’t seem to be too much variation in ingredients and flavor profile. Now, I must confess. My friend and I only had a half each. Considering how small it is and how it took a good 10 seconds for the heat to kick in, I can say with full confidence that we could had definitely eaten a full death taco each. Here’s our experience with the death taco. The first 10 seconds were really pleasant. We worked the taco around in our mouths to fully appreciate all the flavorful components of the taco. Soon after swallowing, the heat rushed in like a sexy beast on a hot summer’s day. Everything else became white… everything was so white… The next 30 minutes were a bit hazy and vague but I’ll do my best to recall. All I remember happening was crying profusely, taking off my shirt, running back for water countless times, and feeling an intense rage towards my friend for taking, what felt like, 10,000 years of suffering to pour me my cups of water. The next 6 – 8 hours consisted of sensations of dry heaving and nausea followed by multiple trips to the restroom to pass through ring of fire down under. The last of it was the the residual pains towards the fundal portion of my stomach and one last ring of fire the morning after. It t’was a rough night. Would I do it again? No… Unless it’s for my future wife. –DARY!!! The whole experience was LEGENDARY!!! So go treat yo self y’all!

This close is very low key(in a small parking lot) but it has a certain kick-ass vibe to it! What most people don’t know is that besides their novelty items like the ninja fries/dogs ect(which by the way are ).. They also have a healthy menu! Teriyaki, beef bowls, undon. All at a pretty reasonable price for the quality. And they make their own teriyaki sauce daily! No MSG ect. It’s a good alternative to flamebroiler

My friend told me about this place, but I didn’t have any chance to be here because they close on Sunday and on weekdays they close at 7pm.(I come to this area only on Sunday or Thursday after 8pm.) Finally I got a chance to try their infamous«death taco»! I have pretty much tolerance toward spicy food, but it totally got me!!! You have to sign a waiver to order one, and it is extremely spicy!!! I finished it but my tongue, then my stomach was burning!!! Maybe it’s a good idea to take a carton/bottle of milk with you. I’ve never sweat this much before… After you are done with your meal, don’t head back to your car soon. You might need to use bathroom later, or end up cleaning your car afterwards…(My friend’s friend was using right after eating it) By the way their service is okay and their teriyaki chicken bowl was average. Table top was a bit dirty. I’m deducting a star off because their reusable plastic cup was moldy. Eww! It’s better to use stainless cups. If you can handle it, they also have«zombie taco» which is spicier than«death»… I warned you!!! and I mean it!!!

Tried the ninja tacos here and they were pretty good! They’re only $ 1 each and can be finished in two bites. Super small but very flavorful(and a little sweet) but you can also taste a hint of spice. I’ll opt for the next level of spice next time! Didn’t get to try the ninja fries but definitely will next time I’m back!

I’ve always been a sucker for chicken bowls and this place hits the spot(minus the drive to get here) I normally to-go food here whenever I go next door to Genki Vape. If you are strapped on cash and want some good food then I suggest this be one of your first stops. Tip: Order the Furious Chicken if you would like something slightly spicy(I order the spiciness at «epic» too scared to go any higher)

The teriyaki beef bowl is BOMB.COM The teriyaki sauce goes well with it, and I like how they serve it with green onions makes it even yummier(: the inside is clean with one bathroom. Sometimes it’s hard to find parking because of the small parking lot

The food, service, cleanliness are all great! Ninja fries were pretty good, I wish the fries were more crispier and more in amount for the pricetag. Ninja taco were good! Worth the $ 1 Quality of food is great! The guy in glasses brought my food very kind! great service. If you sit on the left side, there is a wall of fame of those who succeeded the zombie taco challenge, you’ll spit out food if you catch a couple of the funny ones.

I tried their death Taco while I was a junior in college and I conquered it with no problems at all. I’m a 5’3 Asian girl and I handled the spiciness like a champ while the buff guy at the table next to me needed to step outside. It was funny because he brought friends and before was boasting about how it would be a pice of cake. Last week I tried their ninja fries and nachos and OMG, this is like one of my favorite food spots now. I can taste the teriyaki and Mexican fusion. Both are cooked just right with the sauce and seasoning being out of this world. My favorite of the two are the fries but I think that’s personal preference for fries. Overall, I highly recommend stoping by for a challenge or just a fusion food night.

I initially wanted to order the death tacos just to try them out. Sadly, they are only available for dine in because you need to be at least 18 to eat them. Maybe next time. I ordered the Epic taco and the Ninja fries. The Epic taco is one notch spicier than the Ninja taco. The sauce that the meat is drenched in had a nice kick to it. The Ninja fries were fries drenched in a bunch of toppings and sauce. The sauce was really sweet, like a teriyaki sauce. The fries don’t have any heat so make sure you ask for a side of sauce if that’s what you’re looking for. Being the sauce fiend that I am, I liked this place. Their sauces are really sweet. The hot sauce they gave me on the side was a nice balance of sweet and spice. For those of you who like aren’t into meals that are characterized by their sauces, this isn’t the place for you. I’m fairly certain I wouldn’t have enjoyed any of my food had they not been smuttered in sauce.

Death tacos? Really? I laugh in the face of death! HaHa! Spicy? I’m Asian, I grow and make my own chili! Challenge you say? Sure! The 1st time I tried the challenge 2 or 3 years ago I was able to take the taco down easy peasy. 30 minutes after I got home I was balling on the floor seeing stars, sweating like I just ran a marathon unable to move. «Never again!» I said. Fast forward to now 2015 and the ZOMBIE tacos are no longer available. They stopped it a few years ago. Instead they have the DEATH taco which you have to sign a waiver and must eat there, no sharing! Same rules apply for the challenge as they’ve had for the Zombie tacos. First bite into my death taco(this is like the hot sauce I have at home except they used like 10 times more than I normally would) I was ok. 2nd bite I turned into the devil/demon as my daughter and friend described it. My face completely red, eyes glossy and yellow than red. I quickly took the last bite. Than I chased it with a ninja taco. ½ way through my ninja taco I had to go to the bathroom and get all the sweat off my face. I came back and finished my ninja taco. All of a sudden I was nauseous! Yes nauseous and we had ordered Alot of food. So the smell of everything made me even more nauseous, I didn’t feel like puking or anything just started having trouble breathing. I sat their with my head down and an arm sprawled out sweating and taking deep breaths. After 2 minutes I was fine and dandy, pale with a glow my friend said lol. So we ordered even more food to take home to my Pa, Mommy, sis and Baby. I ate some soup and ninja fries while waiting. And out the door we went. Challenged completed… Or so I thought. Right when I got home everything had started up again. My stomach had an intense burning pain as if a hole was burning through my stomach. I was sweating, nauseous, in need of fresh air but not too cold so the AC was a no go. I stayed and napped for like an hour when I got home.(I worked graveyard and haven’t slept yet so might as well lol) I finally went inside my parents home, a 1200 Sq ft living room and I felt nauseous again, it felt really hot and compacted. My sister had to turn on all 6 of our living room ceiling fans. While my dad stood there yelling at me for taking such a stupid challenge, the room started spinning and it was getting harder to breath. I ran outside and Yack, puke! It was like the exorcist! I didn’t even eat much at Genkiyaki so I’m assuming yesterday’s and maybe the day before meal is out too. My whole mouth and lips started burning and the smell burned my nose. My dad was not happy I christened his banana trees with Genkiyaki and more. I took a long, warm shower after that ordeal and enjoyed some Gelato, I was hungry after all that food I just regurgitated. LoL =p. My dad looked at me kinda mad and relieved with that«Don’t you ever do this again» look. Poor daddy was worried(^_^) Now that I have warned you about the deathly experience I had at Genkiyaki let’s go on with the rest of the menu. Beef and chicken are marinated, tender and cooked perfectly. So no matter what you get a plate, tacos, or yakatori it will be Yummy! The Ninja anything will have a kick to it, I’d say it’s between mild and medium depending on your tolerance. The shrimp tempura is super yummy! My daughter gets it as a taco but with Udon soup is yummy to. The prices here are great and the service as well. I would definitely recommend this place and will continue to come back as it’s one of my daughters favorite! I puked in the face of death and will no longer put my tummy through this again. I promise my tummy this time lol(^_^) Only yummies for my tummy from now on!

I’ve been here two times now. The first time was a few years ago, and I tried the ninja taco and a little bit of the death taco. I remember the ninja taco being good, but not great. My friend ordered the death taco and I tried a piece of the chicken that was covered in the sauce. The problem with the death taco is that they another the entire thing with the sauce. My second time coming here was last week. I ordered the furious chicken bowl with a spicy level of 2. It had a pretty good amount of heat in it. The flavor were nice, but I wish there was some more texture to it. It’s just rice, chicken, sauce, and cilantro. They have plastic and metal water cups here that they reuse which is okay, but all of them were dirty. My plastic cup had some black mold inside, so I grabbed another one. I then realized that all of the cups were like that. I then grabbed the metal cups, but those were also dirty. I noticed black smears inside the metal cups so I grabbed a napkin to wipe it off but was just disgusted. I looked at a few more cups and they were like that as well.
