Delicious sandwiches! We love going there to stock up our liquor cabinet, and every time we do we also grab a sandwich. They also have a walk-in cooler where you can make your own six pack of beer. You may also eat you sandwich there and wash it down with a beer if you so choose. I also love the fact that blues music is always playing!

BESTSANDWICHDELIINLAKECOUNTY! This place is phenomenal & the owner Is the nicest guy with an impeccable memory of his customers & their orders. It’s a deli located within a convenience store. But don’t let that discourage you from enjoying a Boar’s Head meat sandwich! I highly recommend this place!

This place serves boars head meats so they already get 3 stars. Then, They have a great selection of sandwiches and great service. Large selection of booze and beer for last star. Odd location but worth the drive. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Awesome sandwiches and liquor selection. Somewhat overpriced in my opinion. Also owner is really hit or miss. Typically rude and standoffish in my experience but cant deny quality so I will continue to come back

This place is clean, friendly, great beer selection, and the sandwiches are awesome. I’ve recommended people to this business on multiple occasions and had many compliments about Darren remembering their names and who they are. You don’t get service like this anywhere in the area. Would recommend to anyone

Really enjoy the sandwiches, great selection of beer. Prices for liquor aren’t awesome, but you can build your own six pack. He carries quite a few craft beers I can’t find elsewhere. If you want to pick up a deli sandwich AND beer, then support this local business. Owner really loves his shop and treats customers well.

This guy is not the most pleasant person anymore. Had some small talk with him and he was kind of an a-hole, maybe having a bad day. Another time he got into an argument with the people parking next door. I don’t know, three other liquor stores within a ½ mile and the dreaded walmart, Lake Villa liquor guy is always nice and helpful. This guy has lost my business done with the attitude.

This is a locally-owned, small business gem. You can tell the owner takes pride in his store. You literally have everything you need here. It’s a convenience store with a variety of snacks and alcohol, a full service deli counter with amazing sandwiches made with fresh ingredients, also, there’s a walk in cooler where you can pick and choose from tons of local brews or national brands to make your own 6-pack. and if that wasn’t enough, there’s a humidor full of a variety of cigars for purchase. We love this place!

Awesome place! When I lived in Lindenhurst this would also be my go-to place for any beer needs! I love the make your own 6 Pack! The owner would always notice me looking for certain beers. So he asked what I usually like and he would always make sure that there were a few left in the 6pack cooler for me every weekend! Awesome service and extremely friendly!

Living nearby, I’ve stopped in a few times. This place has a lot of selection for beer but I’d pick them last based on the price for craft beer. On one occasion my friend was purchasing a rather hard to get six pack, zombie dust, and it happened to be the last one available. As he was checking out, another customer came in asking for the same beer. The owner then only sold three to my friend and let the other customer purchase the other three. A little unfair? I think so

Great sandwiches. The only thing that didn’t make it 5 stars was the bread. It was starting to get hard. I like soft bread or rolls for a cold sandwich.

Unfortunately, from MY personal experiences, I need to give a low overall mark of satisfaction. Trust me, in that I very much wanted to give high-marks. I was actually the very first person to bring Deli Lama into our workplace. I liked their choice of ingredients and niche combination of deli, pantry, and liquor availability. However, since the standard vegitarian options were minimal, I would order the same menu choice. Each time that I did, something would interfere with my order being delivered, as advertised in the menu. After consistently being unable to get one ingredient, or another, I figured three strikes… and they were out. However, to be fair, I allowed some time to pass and once again, ordered the same item… having the exact same problem. I haven’t been back since, on principle. Four identical problems in-a-row, over a period of months was much too consistent to completely disregard. I do hope they’ve corrected this issue and hope they continue to prosper. However, I have absolutely no motivation to return. Too bad.

love this place! They have delicious sandwhiches and I can get just about any beer or wine that I want. They are a bit on the pricer side though so I only go when I have extra cash. If they were cheaper, I’d probably give them five instead of four stars.

The Deli Lama is a great place to go for a solid deli sandwich at a decent price. The store also has an excellent selection of beer and liquors. Darren(the owner) is a good guy and maintains a clean store. The sandwiches crush anything you’d get at Subway. Sometimes, if it gets busy, it may take a little longer to get your order, but the wait is never unreasonable. You can call ahead if you don’t like to wait. I don’t mind the wait, and usually spend the time browsing the beer section.

Random drive down route 83 brought me to this awesome place. The owner makes a great sandwich and my friend Kevin gets lost between the beer cave and cigar humidor. Hit a snag once when his debit card was declined but he’s been back several times since then after payday! The owner lets you sample alcohol before purchasing which is awesome nowadays!

GEMONTHEROADSIDE I was driving down the road and saw this place on the side of the road. I loved the name and thought it was cute. I knew I would be passing back in a few hours and decided to check it out. Before going here I tried calling. The phone rang and rang and then went to a fax machine. At first, I thought someone had posted the wrong number on Unilocal.10 seconds later my phone rang and it was the Deli Lama himself. He apologized for missing my call and asked if he could help me. Who does that? The Deli Lama does! To me that is amazing customer service and I can just end my review now. I can tell that this place is going to be great just by that phone call. It is little things like that, which can make a business successful. After walking in, there is a lot to see and buy. If you’re in the mood for beer pong there is a giant bucket of ping pong balls available. They also have a ton of drinking tools. Like shot glasses, bottle openers, martini glasses, shakers, etc… The Deli Lama knows how to party! This place boosts a big craft beer cave. You can also make your own six packs by choosing the beers you want. Check out my photos and you will be impressed. They also have a giant humidor full of cigars. There is also aisles of hard liquor too. The Deli Lama really knows how to party! I did not have a sandwich but they sound really good. Plus this places uses Boars Head which is really good quality. Yes this place has much to offer depending on what you need. The guy behind the counter was really nice too. He knew customers by name. Even asking a customer if she was thinking about getting a sandwich for dinner. It was like he knew why she came in. I’m assuming that this was the same guy who called me back. So if you are in the area and you are looking for a unique roadside store, then this is the place. From craft brews to sandwiches to cigars… this place has you covered with all the basics of a party. Long live the Deli Lama… I’m sorry I can’t stop saying it… try saying it out loud… it’s fun and witty! DELILAMA!!! Okay I’m done.

The Deli Lama Café is a fantastic place for craft beer and harder to find liquor options, that masquerades as a typical convenience store, and not quite a café. The owner is awesome and friendly. The deli itself provides delicious sandwiches(using Boar’s Head meats, among others), a real surprise the first time I tried one. But my friend and I met there once for a ladies lunch, and quickly realized that its not exactly a café. I mean, there’s a counter and chairs, but it’s not exactly what we were looking for, in the same way Subway is not a café– albeit the DL has way better sandwiches! There’s a walk-in cigar humidor, and even bigger craft brew walk-in where you mix and match, if you so desire. It’s a few bucks more than a single-product 6 pack, but well worth it for the sampling possibilities, especially if you’re looking for a gift for a craft beer lover. If you’re in the area, I’d highly suggest a stop for such a gift– and a yummy sandwich.

There is an enormous beer selection here, and, as others have mentioned, one can create his or her own six pack. There are a couple of problems – a big one is that each beer is charged individually and it’s impossible to know how much you’re spending until you get to the counter. I could have drunk my personal six pack at a bar for the same price. Another problem is that it’s tough to know how long these bottles have been hanging out in the walk-in. I saw summer and fall brews(it’s February) and some whose labels have seen much better days. My suggestion: Avoid clear bottles.(Well, that’s ALWAYS my suggestion). Still, it’s very fun to look at all the beer. The six pack fills up right quick. It’s like being an English major at City Lights bookstore.
