Spruce Lodge Bed & Breakfast

Have stayed here a number of times with my wife. Always enjoy our stay. And it is much cheaper here than the fortune you’d pay in town. It is so nice that we can walk from here into town and do not need the car. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet. The breakfast, although not a cooked breakfast, is fine for us. We will be staying here again.

When I walked in to check in no one was there. I napped on the couch for a half hour before someone came in. That someone was the owners grandson, who had no idea where an adult was who could check me in. The owner finally came and opened the room and told me I could have just walked into my room. What? Okay so security is not tight.
The room itself was fine but the customer service was awful. The owner was rude and unwelcoming. The only thing she said to me really was «the cats can’t be in your room»
Did I mention the cats? Because neither on the website or during booking did anyone say there were three cats. I’m not allergic but if I were I would have left.
During the three days my friends and I stayed the owner did not talk to us. She was rude. She did not acknowledge us at all. The continental breakfast is honestly a joke.
It’s cereal and bread.
When I paid and checked out she also found out that there were three people in our room. I admit that we didn’t tell her but at the same time we were literally never there. She freaked out and charged us extra. Once again she was very rude to us. I felt as though I was being punished.
The two stars are for the off season price. But honestly I would never come back. I was driving down the road and looking at better hotels and I was so mad at myself for booking this room without doing better research.

First time at this B&B. Its quite large with apartments out back. We stayed in the main house in a one bedroom with a private bath. The owner was just finishing up with cleaning our room which was nice. The walk to Main Street is about 10 minutes not really too bad. All in all we had a very pleasant stay there are several B&B’s in the Lake Placid area that we would like to try however I would recommend this one as well

Just got back from staying at this charming bed and breakfast. I have stayed in at least 10 different places around Lake Placid and this was certainly one of the nicer ones. The breakfast was satisfying and the staff was very friendly. I can confirm the other reviewer’s statement that the cats were very soft as well! I would say a stay here is better suited to families or an older crowd than a rowdy group of friends but I think that can be said for any bed and breakfast vs a motel/​hotel. Lastly, great location and distance to bars/​restaurants without being right on the main drag and still very easy access to Whiteface. Overall, would recommend and would certainly stay there again.
