I’ve been visiting lake placid every summer and I look forward coming back to this particular ice cream store. Love the vanilla on a sugar cone with sprinkles. Don’t leave your patience at home you may find yourself waiting on line on a Saturday night.

I love this place! It’s probably good that it’s so far away, otherwise I would be getting their soft serve every single day in summer! Emma’s is known for it’s soft serves and this time we tried the Maple Cream and Chocolate Vanilla Swirl on two consecutive days. Loved both, but the maple cream got my vote for being unique + creamy = winning combination I say! They also have other traditional ice cream options and several different add-ons…sprinkles, waffle cones, chocolate coatings et al… so get creative if you want to. I was a tad upset to see the notice on the window that the business is up for sale. In this consumer world of corporate ice cream kingpins we need more mom and pop shops. Hope someone saves this old world gem.

In the mood for a delicious and refreshing treat? Definitely hit up Emma’s Lake Placid Creamery! As soon as you walk through the door, you’ll smell the chocolate and waffle cones and won’t be able to choose between all the delicious combinations of hard ice cream, soft ice cream, toppings, etc. I highly recommend the soft ice cream — chocolate and vanilla swirl is cliché but perfect. Although their menu is extensive, if you don’t see a combination of something you want, they’ll probably concoct it for you. For example, I wanted chocolate & vanilla swirl soft ice cream with Oreo cookies mixed in, on top of a chocolate-dipped waffle cone. It wasn’t exactly on the menu, but they created it. Best of all, it was only $ 3.50! Amazing! My personal favorite — they have a small flat«dog-sized» cup, just in case your little K9 bestie wants some ice cream too after his big hike!

I got a s’more sundae. Very creative idea and that’s why I ordered it. However, the taste is not outstanding. I’m not saying it’s not good; it’s made of ice cream, marshmallows, crackers and chocolate sauce, and it can never go wrong. It’s just that something stunning is missing. The test ore is little, nice and cozy. Some shirts on the wall are really funny.

Emma’s is one of the places that makes Main ST in Lake Placid special. It has that old school ice cream parlor décor and feel that fits in perfectly on Main ST. The soft serve is amazing. In fact, we haven’t tried anything else. The texture of their soft serve is perfect, creamy, dense and soft. You won’t ever want ice cream again, just this addictive soft serve. The maple crème flavor is really great with a nice light maple flavor throughout. Vanilla is simple bliss. Small is enough for one person at $ 2.50, but trust me, go for at least a regular size(3 $), it’s too damn good! Toppings are only 50 cents a piece and they give you enough for a cavity. The line can wrap around the store twice over, but it’s always worth the wait. The store owner has some great gag gift items around the store which are really fun to look at while you wait(almost bought a couple). Love everything about this place!
