Original Tommy’s World Famous Hamburgers

Love the burgers here. I remember eating at the one in fountain valley as a teen. Driving Malibu Grand Prix snd video games.

I’ve enjoy the ocassional chili cheese burger and fries from Tommy’s for over 25 years. This location doesn’t disappoint. For those unfortunate souls that don’t get that a chili cheese burger is greasy, messy and not the healthiest meal for you, i feel bad. Tommy’s should not be compared to the rest of the burger joints, from fast food to fine dining. In So Cal they are the ying to the yang of In-​N-​Out. To give the food anything less than, on a bad day, 3 stars shows the lack of knowledge need to appreciate this food. Of course, bad service, could and should effect the rating, but even on that front, until you have used the 3 strike rule, you are speaking without experience.

Delicious chili! My favorites are chili cheese dog and chili cheese fries. This location is always empty though. Service is friendly and nice.

I would like to acknowledge the young lady at the drive through window today. Her name is Arelis. She was so friendly and outgoing. Her personality and friendliness makes me excited to visit this location much more frequently than I ever normally would. She was kind and smart and knew how to make my order much better by suggesting ¼ lb patties and other additions. I can’t wait to see her smiling face next time I visit. Our order was perfect and correct. It’s rare to get that kind of service. Thank you Arelis for the great work! And the food was great too!

Yeah, I hit the gym this morning and undid everything at Tommy’s. Don’t judge me! I had the cheeseburger and chili fries without cheese. The cheeseburger was about the same size as an in-​n-​out burger, but it doesn’t taste charboiled. It’s slathered with Tommy’s signature chili, pickles, mustard, onions, and a slice of cheese. How did they fit 530 calories in a little burger like this? The fries were crisp when I got them, and went really well with the chili. Not something I’d eat every day, or every week for that matter, but it’s a solid burger.

Been enjoying Tommy’s since the early 80’s. Glad they have locations closer than driving to Los Angeles like we did back then. If you want a Chili Burger fast this is the place. Preference us a double or triple (depending on how hungry you might be) with no onion and extra mustard & pickles. Now you can upgrade to ¼ lb patties. Lots of customers will just get a bowl of their chili, chili fries or chili dogs. Worth a try if you need a Chili Burger fix.

The chili on the burger looked and smelled like dog food. My husband and I couldn’t eat more
than the bite we felt obligated to take.

Oh Tommy’s, how I love thee…
When I used to live in LA, I never cared too much for Tommy’s. I don’t even know if it was that big a deal back in the day? A ghetto burger joint on the corner of Beverly and Rampart? But I was also very young so…
Now that I’m older and wiser, I make a conscious effort to steer clear of eating all my allotted calories for the day in one meal. Unless of course, that meal comes from Tommy’s!
#2 Cheeseburger combo w/​fries and a drink for $ 8 will make all your wildest dreams come true. Never has a burger and fry put such a huge smile on my face. There’s a method to eating the messy burger — unwrap, let all the excess chili ooze out from the sides, use your plain fries to scoop up the greasy world famous chili until the burger is «neat» enough to pick up and eat. Enjoy and make sure to ask for some yellow chili peppers!
The location is right by the 5 fwy on El Toro on a side street. Kinda desolate and bleak. But better for me as there are no crowds to tackle like the LA location.

Love this place! Cleaner that other Tommy’s that i’ve been to but has that same taste that you love. Be prepared to wash your hands after eating though or the chili smell will stay on you and others might think of it as unpleasant lol!

I have to give Tommy’s 5 stars because they have fantastic chili cheese fries and chili cheese burgers. I never stray from these two items and I know what I’m getting… a greasy delicious junky feast!

Poor service as I wait at the counter for several minutes while the employees were in back laughing. My was not correctly made along with being over charged. My quick lunch turned into not so quick nightmare. Good thing there is more choices in the area for lunch.

I love the chilli burgers and chilli cheese fries omg! Loosing wait it’s my worst enemy. After my gastric bypass my eating habits have changed except for this place. Only change here is 3 bites and my cravings are gone for a week lol. Can’t stay away

Having grown up in LA I have heard of Tommy’s Hamburgers for many years but just never had the chance to go. I now live in South Orange County and I am lucky enough to live near one. We went there for lunch today and we were not disappointed at all. The prices were not bad and the food was great. The chili was fresh tasting and the fries were hot. Helpful and friendly employees and clean. Do yourself a favor and go there to get awesome food!

Awesome visit last night! Great customer service and cheeseburgers with extra chili reminded me of the DTLA location… perfect!

My first experience with Tommy’s was in my L.A. 80’s club days. Back when I was in my early 20’s and eating a chili burger and fries at 2am did not effect my weight or keep me up all night with horrific heartburn. Oh those were the days. Anyway, when I saw they built one in El Toro I was excited. Somehow it took me 3+ years to eat here. Husband and I git chili cheese burgers and fries (my burger extra pickles as always) they were greasy and delicious as expected. Afterward my stomach made noises like Linda Blair, but that is expected from food like this. I personally like The Hat’s Chili Cheese Fries better but Tommy’s burger are yummy. As you get older Tommy’s is a once a year place to eat. Unless you have a deathwish. Then eat here every day.

Recovering from our voluntary assault to our temples. I had a little taste of all on our tray: hamburger, fries, breakfast burrito and chili. A literal self loathing meal. Chili was like nothing I’ve ever experienced. Even my boyfriend couldn’t do his usual and make sure all was consumed. There’s only so much you can enjoy before the need to walk away! A must try for all!

The original chili cheese burger shack has a location right here in Lake Forest. Their whole menu revolves around burgers, fries, hot dogs, and of course chili. I’ve been to many of Tommy’s chain locations and this one is just as good as the others.
GOOD 1: The chili cheese burgers are amazing. They’re nicely portioned and extremely tasty. Pair it up with some chili cheese fries and a drink and you’ve got yourself one heck of a yummy meal.
GOOD 2: This location has a drive-​thru so getting in and out is fast and easy. They also have a wonderfully clean and comfy dining room and patio too.
GOOD 3: The prices are very reasonable for what you’re getting. A large combo meal with the burger, fries, drink will run you about $ 9.
GOOD 4: The staff is very friendly and really seem to like their jobs. They’re fast and accurate with the orders. In the past 3 years since I’ve been coming to this location I don’t think they’ve made a single mistake at the drive-​thru with my orders.
BAD 1: Honestly, there really isn’t any… I always like to point out at least one thing that could be improved but in this case I really can’t gripe about anything.
Overall this is great food from the iconic Tommy’s that started in Los Angeles around the early 50’s and now have something like 10 locations. This location serves up the same quality food with a smile that all the others I’ve visited do. I go out of my way to eat here at least once a month. Be sure to ask for the little green peppers when you order. They put them on the side and the contrast of hot spice to a bite of delicious cheese burger is amazing. Enjoy !

We wanted to be bad and eat some unhealthy fatty fast food. Very happy that there’s a Tommy’s in Orange County. In LA, Tommy’s are usually pretty busy. Here at OC, this place is always empty.
Husband had the chili cheese burger, and I had the chili cheese dog. The hot dog was a bit too salty. Also It was the lean and skinny kind of hot dog. I remember the ones I had in LA were fat hot dog, like the Costco kind. The chili was good, but I didn’t like the skinny salty hot dog.
Our favorite thing from Tommy’s is chili cheese fries. Love the fat fries with the yummy chili sauce. I probably gained 5 pounds after eating it. But who cares?

The worst service ever by this manager by the name «Ivan» saying bad words talking
Loud. Even cops toll him to calm down an closed for the day… Never seen a employee that mad in a Resturant in my life
This guy haves problems … Some one should know or be aware…
