I didn’t think that I could enjoy a Dole Whip even more than I already do. Then Animal Kingdom goes and offers Dole Whips with rum. Not just rum, your choice of dark or coconut rum. I’ll take two.

Food quality aside, when the girl taking your order(Lizmarie) has a heavy accent, and someone misunderstands what you’ve said, I highly doubt that the disney business model says it’s okay to scream at your customers. Yeah. We called your out on it right there, and we are putting it here, and it’s being sent to corporate.

This place does not offer dole whip anymore! Instead, it’s a pineapple sorbet like whip. Not at all creamy like dole whip. :(:(

Dole Whip is special and remarkable alone… but Dole Whip and RUM… beyond words. Their chocolate waffle too. Tops. This place should be in every major city and was a highlight of the sweets in all of Disney.

After spending the day at Animal Kingdom with my other half, I was in a serious need for a cool treat. It was 90+ degrees and I went to AK on an unusually busy day. I was tired, cranky, and I desperately needed to cool off. I was in Asia exiting the Kali River Rapids ride when I realized Tamu Tamu closed at 5pm. It was 4:51, and I had a measly few minutes to get over to Africa. I RAN. I must have looked so bizarre running through the park but I was desperate. I made it a few minutes before closing and purchased two Pineapple whips(sans rum, although I probably really needed it). I sat on a bench under one of the fans that also blows a mist of water onto passerbys and I was in heaven. That was pretty much my favorite part of that day– Sitting on that bench eating that amazing Pineapple whip. Next time I’ll try it with rum. I should also mention pineapple whips(or dole whips– Doesn’t seem like there’s a difference) are a healthy low calorie option and are dairy free, too! The other menu offerings looked pretty good. Bonus points for having a vegan option!

One of the better restaurants in the Disney parks. Great chicken curry(not too spicy either) and yummy pineapple ice cream.

Chicken curry is a high quality lunch with the portion size a bit on the small side. Generous real chicken chunks with good quality jasmine rice. Only improvement would be to serve properly baked naan bread(currently out of bag cold) given the price of $ 9.49. Goes great with safari amber draft next door at Dawa Bar($ 6.50). Warning — the shakes are not. They are soft serve ice milk like McDonald’s and not good. Instead get Hagen Daz near African entrance.

Edit: 12÷9÷2015 After our last trip to Disney we found out this food is no longer offered :(Tamu Tamu now services drinks and snacks. Behind this location at Hambre Market they serve food– non that I was a fan of. I would recommend Yak and Yeti quick service or sit down. Our go to spot in Animal Kingdom for lunch. Some members in our family are gluten free so this is a great option for them as well. We love the Quinoa Salad and Pulled Beef Sandwich. They also make a great chocolate milkshake.

I would say that this may be the best quick service dining option in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. No burger, hot dog, sandwich, or any such like can compare to here. We had the chicken curry and chicken salad, both of which came with warm soft pita bread. After handing over the $ 10 per plate and seeing what looked like a small serving, we sat down in the seating area, which is all outside. Then the awesomeness happened. The flavor of the curry, juiciness of the chicken, and amount of chicken caught us all by surprise. Not only was there plenty of meat to have with every bite of rice and sauce, it was also filling and REALLY good! My daughter ate half of her chicken salad, so I experienced the same surprise when finishing hers. It too had juicy chicken and was full of deliciousness. While we were waiting for the food, I went across the path to the bar for a sugar cane mojito to accompany our(except for the little one) lunch. It was cool, refreshing, and delicious. This was definitely one of my favorite theme park meals ever, as the taste and value was well worth the price. You should definitely try here!

After getting stopped by a Disney Surveyor — we surveyed him to see what have some of the people’s faves at Animal Kingdom — Ah Ha! He told us that not too long ago Disney scraped the whole menu at Tamu Tamu in ‘Africa’ and refreshed it with a new menu with more of a African flare. We had the African Chicken Curry that was about 10 dollars including tax. It comes with a two quartered pita bread that was super soft and tasted fresh. The Curry was decent and spiced well. I love that the curry used dark meat cause that added to the tenderness of the chicken. Also at this stand you are able to buy a veggie curry and a chicken salad(I think). They also have a snack pack for the little ones that includes drinks and a few snacks to keep them occupied. All in all a good curry midsnack/meal while you’re exploring the countries in Animal Kingdom!

They recently updated their menu so I’m assuming the meh reviews are from before that. Like Kim, I had the spiced beef in a pita and it was delicious! I was definitely surprised this was a counter service meal. The meat was flavorful and tender, pita was fresh, and the yogurt sauce was refreshing. The kettle chips were delicious and also had a little kick to them. Perfect! Like Matthew said, grab some food here and head over to the seating by the Dawa Bar if you want a drink. However the seating right behind Tamu Tamu is really cute and picturesque.

Pulled beef pita sandwich with cucumber mint salad. That is why you should eat here.
