Excellent food! I love the Beef Chow Fun they have. It is delicious! Definitely recommend this place.

I can eat here everyday. They appeal to my hungry man side as their proportions are huge, they appeal to my foodie side as their foods are really good, they appeal to my Silicon Valley side since the place was pretty clean they appeal to my ghetto side since this place is a bit of a hole in the wall as it was really just a booth, and it appeals to my frugal side since it was really cheap for the amount of food that you get.

If you are looking for a quick delicious meal, this is a great place to do it! The menu is for the most part the standard Hawaiian plate lunch. Meat of your choice with rice and Mac salad. I have eaten here dozens of time. The BBQ mixed plate is my favorite and their egg rolls are my favorite on Maui! This is a local favorite!

Looking for some local food on the west side and decided to give this place a try. Huge mistake. The kalbi ribs were rubbery, stringy, and tasted wierd. I seriously could not eat it. The cashier said all kalbi ribs are rubbery. ummm, no. I practically had to beg to change my order to something else. Thought that the chicken katsu would be safe… wrong! It was the worse katsu i’ve ever had. It tasted like frozen chicken fried in old, reused oil. Seriously. I didnt want to complain a second time, but instead decided to Unilocal review it and will never eat there again. Ick.

We asked and we received. Michael Taxi told us to come here for some good local breakfast food. Every morning all I wanted to eat was spam & eggs and loco moco but had a tough time finding a place that served it the way I like. This place was perfectly the cheap greasy spoon I was in search of for all my breakfast desires. For under $ 5, my boyfriend and I shared a plate of white rice, two eggs, and 3 breakfast meats(seasoned spam, kielbasa, and bacon). It was more than enough to fill us up for over half the day, and I am now determined to go out and buy spam in bulk in hopes of recreating the experience of #1BBQ in my kitchen. I’ll never forget you #1BBQ! *reaches out hand*

Whenever we’re on the west side of Maui, we always make sure to eat here for lunch or dinner. They’re prices are fairly affordable, ranging from $ 6-$ 12 for a mini or regular. May I add, they pack your plate! I can barely finish even half of my plates, so I save it for my next meal. Hands down, the best local food I’ve had.

I shouldn’t do it… As a tattooer I hate it when people come into the shop thinking that they know everything about tattooing based off tv shows, but I’m going to do the same in this instance(albeit different platform) because I’ve watched«kitchen nightmares». Chef Ramsey taught me to be leary of restaurants with gigantic menus. And this place has just that. I ordered the beef curry, against every urge in my body not to. But i feel a cold coming on, and I like to eat spicy things to edge off the cold. I don’t know, it’s a dumb superstition I have. But the beef curry was the weirdest thing I’ve ever ate. Seriously, the weirdest curry I’ve ever eaten. And my taste buds are not compromised by my cold yet. It was just the weirdest thing I’ve tasted in a while. And I’ve eaten many curry plates from different establishments. *shrug*

Solid value — I went here twice on my trip to Maui. I had the seafood and chicken combo(Combo C), which comes with a small breaded fish filet, three fried shrimp, decent sized bbq chicken portion, macaroni salad and rice. It was all tasty and very filling. People complaining about the ten minute wait should go to McDonalds — they make your order fresh, which is actually desirable.

We came across this place while trying to find another eatery. it was surprisingly good! Yes it is a very assuming place in a low-key shopping center, but there were plenty of places to sit in the shade and with a breeze it was actually quite comfortable. We ordered the spam saimin, loco moco, and spam musubi — all are very tasty and great value. We went back for the second time and both times the staff at the window were super friendly. They even switched out the pork for chicken for the on-choy stir fry on my request because my fiancé doesn’t eat pork. Also, the young man behind the counter asked if I want the plate(with rice, on the menu) or the dish(no rice, just the stir fry and not on the menu). I was so happy that he told me about it because I have been eating a lot more carb than I normally would on this vacation and was happy to do without the extra carb. The salmon plate my fiancé got was delicious too, nicely prepared and seasoned. I highly recommend this joint if you want a change from the crowded and some times over priced eateries on Front Street, which is very close by. It is fast with plenty of seats under the overhang. Also, it is open from 6AM-10PM, with a small but local styled breakfast menu.

Hawaiian-style fast food. Since there’s no review on Unilocal I thought I’d write one. Open air mini-tables, located in a mini mall a block off Front Street in Lahaina. A VERY local place. Kind of like a Hawaiian Panda Express, hoped it’d be better than that! Two groups of customers say it’s good. Forty or so dishes & plate-lunch combos. Thus emboldened, I ordered gau gee(a fried pastry stuffed with ground pork) because I’d never heard of it. Also won ton soup with shrimp and char shiu. The Verdict? Kind of one step above«meh». Price and portion size was good, meats and veggies were abundant. But broth was pretty bland and gau gee was, well, fried dough with sausage. We goosed the soup up with soy, pepper and hot sauce and it was pretty good. So — a tepid 3 stars, average Chinese. But not the fantastic hole in the wall you always hope to find.

The hubby and I had Spam Musubi and it was meh. In Honolulu we ate it almost everyday and loved it. We come to Maui and see it on the menu at No. 1BBQ and it was not very good. 1st the staff was not very friendly. One woman was off to the side counting big stacks if money and putting them in paper bags. The other person took outer order didn’t say more than 5 words to us. We waited about 5 mins and our food came out. What we are used to is a 2 to 1 ratio of rice to spam and a small piece of seaweed wrapped around it. This was a 3 to 1 rice to spam ration with 2 whole sheets of seaweed wrapped around each piece. Flavor was bland almost no seasoning. I would recommend trying somewhere else.

Chinese owners from China. Foods came out hot and fresh. Showing a Passing Green sign from the Health Department. Had the sweet sour pork ribs and the beef fried rice and BBQ chicken, all good. Heard the garlic Salmon is good!

It’s a plate lunch plate, but they have so many other items. After a week of eating out in Maui this place is alright. It’s starchy food but it’s decent, fast, and plentiful without breaking the bank. We came here twice when it’s too late to bother with something else. Saw a lot of locals eating here.

We were looking for something to eat that was open kind of late and discovered No. 1BBQ. It’s in the same parking lot as Zushi and Ace Hardware. The gentleman who took our order was very friendly and helped us decide what to order. I really enjoyed the BBQ Pork Chow Fun. The order was massive and the flavor was really good. It even tasted the good the next day, when I had it for breakfast. My wife had the Won Ton Soup that she said was OK. One of my sons enjoyed the Mochiko Chicken and some type of Pork Belly in a sweet and sour sauce(don’t know the name), but he liked it a lot. My other son ordered the Chicken Katsu that he enjoyed. Overall, our food had good flavor, good portions and was served quickly. They serve Chinese food and Local food. If you’re in the mood for something quick and want a solid place to grab a bite, you won’t be disappointed.

Really yummy chicken katsu and spare rib bbq. All the combos come with white rice and macaroni salad(which is also pretty bomb!) Sweet little place to eat in a plaza with outdoor seating. Plenty of parking and the service is quick! Love how it’s open and the air is fresh. If youre on vacation with your family, your parents will like it, there’s room for lottttts of leftovers!

Surgeon General’s Warning: The name of this restaurant is a little deceptive… & smoking can still cause lung cancer. It seems they have crowned themselves as the number one Chinese eatery on the island. My taste buds have a different opinion… BUT the good thing about this place, they are open late than a bunch of other establishments. So if you don’t feel like Micky D’s McDouble for the 5th time in a row, hop across the street. The menu is large. A mix of Chinese and Local entrees. Lots of wonderfully bad photographed food images. (Seriously, what’s with Asian restaurants and horrific food pictures?) My friends and I ordered: Beef with broccoli: Came with 2 scoops of rice & mac salad. Flavor was decent, beef was chewy as f***, mac salad was decent. Ate all the broccoli and nibbled on some beef. Chicken with eggplant: Came with 2 scoops of rice & mac salad. Flavor was good. Eggplant was melt-in-your-mouth. Chicken was just like that rubber chicken at your local toy store. Some noodle dish(with chicken pork shrimp and veggies): Flavor was ok. Meats were rubbery once again. Meat filled fried wonton thing: Pretty good. Hot and crispy outside. Seasoned well inside. The verdict: They have no idea how to properly cook meat without it tasting like condoms in your mouth. However, they have cooked vegetables appropriately. If they spend time on improving, this place could actually be legit. If I owned a restaurant I would never put a #1 in the name unless you are Gordon Ramsay.
